Just curious - anyone take it a step further - look under the stamp?

Let's see: I took two seconds, held my postcard up to a bright light... nope, nothing under the stamp except postcard and dried adhesive. Very Happy

Has anyone else looked at the front of their postcards under a blacklight? I wonder this because on my Vice Squad card, there is a series of small bars on the right side that can only be seen under a blacklight

I suspect that you, like me, didn't whip one out because it's just too much trouble to pick an old post to serve on the side.

Try using the Search function for this forum, search for blacklight or postcard or barcode and you'll discover the answer for yourself. It'll be just like playing the ARG, good practice for you! Idea

Looking at it like that kinda makes me think about the Scavenger hunt they did at comicon lastyear....

Which had a total of 17 items...

This would be on a bigger scale though when compared to:

Interesting that they would possibly give us the locations, but not what to look for....

Got my postcard

Just checked my mail. I got the Vice Squad postcard.

I read a lot of the posts but I can't tell. Did you solve the puzzle?

Not sure if I should serve up some trout here, but I know we definitely discussed this theory a few pages back...

nope...not solved..there are quite a few theories out there...but nothing definite....

most of us are waiting patiently for either more postcards to show up...or something found online...or Comic Con to get here ( alot of people think that the cards have to do with Comic-Tron...er...Con)

just out of curiousity...what is the post marked date on your card?

I believe mine is June 28th, but I'm not sure (I'm not near it right now)

As soon as I can get a good photo of mine (Kraz-bot) I will post it. Unfortunately I don't have a blacklight, and I can't get the dots to show up when I take a picture with my dad's cell phone.

thats ok..we have plenty of pictures...im just curious to see if the late postcard-receivers have the same postmark date as everyone else...or if the powers that be are starting to send out a new round of cards..

and for those keeping tracks...monday will be the 2 week mark since the cards were in circulation ( going from the June 28th postmark)...now, im a little fuzz-brained right now...is 2 weeks a long time between anything happening ( not counting the breaks)..?

If ''I'' was doing this, i would be making sure most of the cards got shipped around the world before i start with leg number 2. Given that the cards have now gotten as far as Australia, it is good to assume that the next round of clues or next leg of what ever will be coming out this Sunday, tonight or at least Monday. I would want maximum awareness going on for this Viral before i do the next thing in the ''PLAN''.

Still can't figure out even the dimensions of the grid... trying something else.
The black grid is exactly 1 x 14 cm, and each of the dots seems to be 1mm square. So possibly a grid of 10 x 140?
So I worked on this further and after three do-overs (first I was trying to eyeball which 1mm space each dot belonged to without a second ruler; then I flubbed up measuring, putting some dots before or after their proper space Bang Head) each does in fact work out to a precise spot on this sized grid.
Anyone else have two mm rulers and want to try this with the three other cards?

I'm not trying to be pushy here, but doesn't anyone at all care to at least give this a try while we're waiting?

Since we'd be going from guessing which spot to fit the dots on in a erroneous 6x104 grid to a precise spot on a larger 10x140 grid (or 8x136 with the blank border), it may change this puzzle from seeming unsolvable with not enough information to possibly a connect the dots sort of deal. If nothing else, it will at least give an accurate representation for when/if we get more information on it.

I admit it's a little bit of a pain, especially if you don't have a blacklight, but it's not that difficult. You just need at least one ruler that shows millimeters and another straight edge; a second mm ruler is helpful, but just a sheet of paper is enough to line up and show which mm the point belongs in.

So, please? Humor me? At least see if this works on the other cards. Thanks!

I was just thinking that with the "coming to an arcade near you" thing that maybe these dots are actually keys that let only someone with that particular postcard to play that game and that there is no secret embedded message to be decoded. Maybe.

There may be something here. I'll be going to CAX next weekend, and even though it has been mentioned before, methinks that the closest thing to "Flynn's Arcade" will be the CAX event itself. Perhaps Disney/42 will be having some sort of pre-SDCC event, showing-off the ENCOM games that are on the postcards. A shot in the dark, but I'll report from CAX for sure!
