Elsewhere Philatelic Society
protip: it's about stamp collecting.

http://stampsfromelsewhere.com/

The Elsewhere Philatelic Society meets every first Monday of the month at 5:30pm to photograph, admire, and possibly exchange nonchalant stamps from the realm of Elsewhere.

The meet-up is located in the former site of the Jejune Institutes Aquatic Thought Foundation, now called the Rincon center, at Stuart st and Mission St.

The next monthly meeting is May 3rd @ the triangle space between Steuart, Howard, and The Embarcadero.

Be sure to bring your LBBoN envelopes so you can share your stamps with others. If you don't have one it's highly suggested that you get one from the EPWA's website www.elsewherepublicworks.com command &_support . this, of course, is completely optional.

Ooh, I have some catching up to do before May 3rd! I should probably warn you guys in advance that my LBBoN came with the most awesome stamp ever. It involves kittens. Hopefully there is enough time between now and May 3rd for your jealousy to subside so we can all admire my kittenish stamp together.

Does any one find it strange that the meet-up is at a former JI site?

yeah it is kinda odd. though i guess you could see it as the EPWA saying "We're in your foundation, tradin' our stamps"

honestly i think it's amazing they found a building that has dolphins on it and is also a post office. talk about fortuitous.

Excellent.

Did other LBBoN include stamps in the box? The only stamps I have were used as WSPO postage.

update: the site has been updated with a map of the location, an RSS feed, a twitter feed, and a new PO box in SF (as opposed to the old one in Oakland). even though the post office with the dolphins on it is on Stuart and Mission it seems like we're going to meet initially in an open space along the embarcadero. i guess this'll make it easier to see the group.

UPDATE: Website added - Seven new stamps for portable listening devices added to the website and appears that they are looking for sixty applicants for Monday.

Oh man, this is the first time I've ever actually been a part of the story as it unfolds. I am super excited.

This looks to be an audio tour. Kinda like those mp3 dance parties that imepv everywhere does. If this is the case I would highly reccomend you make a playlist for these files and if possible put them on a regular mp3/cd player and NOT on your phone. The reason being is because at least for iPhones it will courtiously pause the music for you so you can take a call. You do not wanna find yourself behind in all the instructions because of a few stray calls. If you have a headphone splitter and a second pair of headphones bring them just in case someone finds themself unsynched. This is ginna be good :3

Good point. I'd recommend putting an iPhone into "Airplane" mode before hand so that this won't be an issue. Wink

Well.

I, for one, will look at stamp collecting in a whole new light now!

I have a few craptastic iPhone photos from the event here:

Anyone else have their pics online?
