[Social] Introductions So since we finally have a decent forum, none of that CFG forum crap, let's introduce ourselves proper
i'm cyngs...i AM a girl for those who aren't in the know....CFG is my first hardcore ARG experience, but i did a lot of lurking in the past
among many things, i am a writer, and i'm very interested in working in expanded narrative art forms such as args and "experiences"
i have a fine arts degree with a double minor in digital media studies and english
i have a very loving, very forgiving husband who has so far put up with my cfg mania
i might pursue a masters in digital media studies in the distant future...something ARGish
now some you regulars HAVE to introduce yourselves here or I will become an intolerable pest in chat
AND YOU LURKERS TOO!!! (i'm telling you, as a former lurker, it is much more fun playing when you engage socially with the other players!!!)
Do it! Do it! Do it!

Very good, and thank you Spacebass! Gah, now I'm gonna have to check an entire board for our updates. j/k...Not a bad thing at all lol...
Anyhow, SamuelofR247 checking in. I may start a new topic just for people new to CFG to get the hang of things past, present and yet to come so keep an eye out here on this board.
A little bit about me, I'm currently fully immersed in ConspiracyforGood so I probably won't be found in any other ARG's for a while. I've made myself a twitter account that's pretty much just for CFG right now so if you'd like to follow me and keep an eye out for updates it's;
http://twitter.com/SamuelofR247
If you check me out there, you'll see many other members (following/followers) who are actively involved in CFG as well, even characters too.
Thanks for reading and if I don't see you here then.....see ya in the CFG chat!

Okay, first of all, you should know, that there's nothing to know about me.
Why... i have no past, related to ARG... i'm involved for round about 4 days now. But I like it.
If you want to know, what I'm looking like .. check the videos on youtube
I'm too old to be called young and too young, to be called old. I'm in the middle of not anymore and not yet. I seek the new, I like experiments, I try to understand...
For further questions, I d like to refer to the oracle of delphi. I bet ... oh no, my docter has asked me, to stop gambling.
Cya.. at worlds end ... or in hell!

Rinflame 101 So since I really hate introducing myself not to mention loosing that nicely woven shroud of mystery I'll keep this pretty brief. And am doing it just because you guys have won a special place in my heart (and free-time).
So as the keen eyes of our sharp ARG player's have no doubt noticed I am a complete newbie to the genre. The way I got to it is a little bit long story so let's just say it was a game of fate.
I am currently an undergraduate student of Psychology. Apart from that and perhaps closely related to it, I am a philantrop and an unhealthy utopist. To be honest CFG apealed to me first and foremost beacuse of its humanitarian tendencies and discovering ARG was a side-effect. But I have to say it was a side-effect comparable to discovery of radiation or invention of beer soup
Ok I promised to keep this short so if you want to find out more and create your own opinion regarding my humble self join us at CFG chat.

Hey there. My name is BlueMouse222, but I go just as easily as Blue Mouse. I am a guy, just for reference, and I live in the Northeast US. I can cook pretty well. My politics are well off to the left on both axes.
Pasted from my CFG intro thread:
Hello, my name is Paul. I hereby donate a little of my time, but all of my skills.
I can code a little.
I am good at math.
I have a quick and analytical mind, I can learn quickly, and memorize well.
I live on the East Coast of the United States, and may be able to attend events or drops in the Northeast.
As proof of my skills, I hereby donate the following knowledge to the CFG community at large: the CFG logo is, in fact, a trefoil knot, commonly known as an overhand knot.
http://katlas.math.toronto.edu/wiki/Trefoil
Anyway, I'm happy to help with anything, if I'm able. I can even go to events, if they're not too far away.
I've got a bit of an ARG history: I played through the second half of PXC (my first ever) and participated a lot in Exoriare. I've lurked on a few others. I know the basic ARG tools, and can recognize their usage.
I look forward to freeing the CFG from BB!

Hi guys, a certain person insisted I post an intro so here it is.
Discovered CFG 3 days ago through the Mainframe Liberator and got drawn in. A lot to catch up on and working my way through it.
Looks like a lot of hard work has been done already and I hope I can be at least slightly useful in future puzzles! Got a computing background so might be able help out with that kind of stuff.
Other than that I am twenty-something and live in London so looking forward to the events coming up soon.

Hey! I'm Rin, known as Claramata on the CFG forums and chat. I'm mostly a lurker, but I'm interested in digital literature and this is a fun thing to do. I'm thinking of writing my senior thesis on ARGs and other forms of interactive storytelling so this isn't just fun for me! It's research!

Hi! I'm TechTaylor... I'm based in London working in the Streaming Media industry. Been lurking and occasionally playing ARG's for years.
I'm kinda out of practice though... wouldn't even have known about this if one of my friends hadn't called me to find out what I thought of it so far... long story short: I love it and want to help any way possible!

@cyng I'm an English major with a focus on writing and composition theory. My idea for my senior thesis involves examining the rhetorical strategies that are needed when there is an immediate audience response and when audience can change the outcomes of the story. Actually, if anyone knows any who's run a game (obviously not for games still going on I wouldn't want anyone to peak out from behind the curtain), I would be interested in interviewing them to see how the process of story creation and presentation is effected by the audience.
Ya'll probably think I'm nuts now, don't you?

i don't think that is werd at all, claramata
i have a huge academic interest in args
if you haven't checked out jane mcgonigal's site avant game out, already, i'd strongly recommend this page for a starter reading list: http://www.avantgame.com/writings.htm --i would definitely also research "rhizome" theory and how it relates to narrative...( i hope i don't offend you if you already know all this already, i just get excited about talking the "theory" end )
currently i am being mentored by a well known writer (a former prof of mine), and I did a presentation for her on arg's at her Experimental Writing class at my university....she got so keen on the idea, she wants me to work on an experimental cross-media platform/participatory narrative along for an art's festival that she's on the committee for coming up in September
so i don't think you're nuts at all...just a bird of a feather
p.s. anytime you want to talk theory or bounce ideas off of, i would LOVE to

Cyng that's a fantastic site! Thank you! I'm working with my boss on how to adapt elements of digital storytelling and gaming into learning environments, because I've found myself learning far more about critical thinking and analysis from games like CFG than I have sitting in a classroom and we want to see if it might work as an educational tool... think about it, a game based on a college campus that gets students from all disciplines together and sharing knowledge in order to solve a mystery.
EDIT: Speaking of sources that discuss ARGs in an academic way, Cyng, have you looked up Henry Jenkins from MIT? He's got some interesting things to say about participatory culture and new media.

Prowler I'm Prowler,
Im 22, male and work for the University Halls of Residence. A decent console gamer and interested in pervasive/ARG games.
Have played a couple of GoGames and other Pervasive games with Tech Taylor and followed "the lost experience" loosely back in the day.
This is my first proper ARG and i really enjoyed saturdays event. Looking forward to next sat!!
