[OT] Afraid of the Dark on History Channel

Does the style of this commercial look familiar to anyone?

I'm almost dumb-founded by the similarities.

Why think of a new ad when you can ripoff the look of a movie trailer? Very Happy

Don't you get it, that show is the train wreck, the viewers just don't know it yet.

Crazy right? I have it recording so I can watch it later. Who knows, it may be good. Gotta be better than that crap on SyFy.

The commercial style is very similar to the Super8 trailer in the wording and the way it dissolves away and the flashes of images. It's just missing a train wreck but makes up for that with a moon that looks like one on the Rocket Poppers website. Probably wont be long before someone hacks this up and makes a fake Super 8 trailer.

I think you guys are just seeing Super8 things everywhere. I mean, really? The moon looks like the Rocket Poppeteers moon? You realize that the moon is like, the one and only moon for this planet right? So, it's only natural that it looks like itself. Plus, the Rocket Poppeteers moon is a crescent moon, where the one on this commercial is a full moon. I think it's just a commercial that they're trying to make look like a scary movie. That is all.

Twoden, the similarity is much more in the visual way the titles dissolve in the same manner (different font) from the SUPER 8 trailer.

I agree that the moon is the moon, but the stylistic crossover in this ad is fairly certain as intentional. Good news for JJ that his teaser trailer (not even footage from the film yet!) is already attracting imitators.

I'm guessing nobody noticed the last few frames of the video then...

Super 8 influenced indeed!

guys. its just a style… kinda like how those commercials go with a statement, but alot of people say it and it over laps showing different people with the same idea for a product.. kinda like that. only this one is supposed to play on fear, so they went with scary. Obviously not related to super 8, MAYBE there are similarities, but you could really say the same thing about anything…

and yeah.. we only got one moon, its the EARTHS MOON, not the ROCKETPOPPETEERS moon.. lol it was full in the commercial spot, not crescent.
