Some quite clear sounds in there...woman (prolly kat) definitely says Marcus. Can almost make out exactly what the guy says about the security bit (he starts by saying "i have no idea where the something something tester came from" (i think its tester at the end), definitely can here someone say aquapolis in a greek-ish accent...we need someone who speaks greek to listen to that bit, its quite clear, they shud be able to translate hopefully...good stuff

Mine was 5:38pm Pacific. Mine got sent an hour before yours, Montevino.

Edit: beyond that, the title of this thread says 6:42pm EST. I guess it's different times for lots of people.

k, im a "longtime" (two days, but i read the whole thing, heh) reader, first time poster, yadda yadda.
Everyone seems convinced that the lady's voice near the end says "Be assured Mr. Ormond" or something. I can almost 100% guarantee that she ends the name with "ick" or a "K" sound. I have excellent hearing, and even with repeated listenings, I am positive the lady says "Be assured mr. Ornick (spelling?)" or "Arnick" (or even 'oernick') but it doesnt end with a "d" sound.
Its just been bugging me, heh.

Well that doesnt matter, coz at the start she 100% says Marcus...so its MLO either way, if not clarified twice, at least once.

I still think it's Ormond, only she says it like "Ormind"... If you say "ormind" quickly and really crack off that "d" at the end, it can be pretty sharp, almost like a "k"

Combine that with less than optimal audio quality (we're talking about phone lines here), static, and whatever else is going on in the background, and that can lead to some consonants not quite sounding like they "should".

Either way, I agree with some of the previous sentiment here that I don't think it's entirely critical that we completely pick apart this entire audio file. I think the most important parts are the alarms, the Aquapolis, etc.

ya know what makes these recordings more chilling is the thot that man possibly was drowning at the time they were recorded.

Listening to the message, almost sounds like another voice is saying 'stand by to transmit' or 'stand by to transfer' before the woman's voice begins saying 'Marcus, this message...'

Is it possible that this is the beginning of a ham radio transmission?

Don't know if that's relevant or not, though.

possible link?

^^^^^^^^^^^ YES now that is true... When I saw those pics on the aquapolis incidentlogs folder I was a bit... freaked... They look very realistic. I can't work out what angle the camera's at though to pick up all those light reflections... I wonder how they took the pics... There's another question to be answered.

But yes, those matrix-warpy-digitised sounds that I thought originally sounded like the noise that Neo makes when he exits the matrix, the long one at the end could be the audio of the guy being removed from the matrix automatically as he goes past the point of death...

Another thought.

i also hear the voice that says "prepared to transmit" at the beginning.

the muffled voice after the klaxons (when Scratch's music is playing) sounds very much to me like a voice mail recording. I can hear "leave a message, and I'll try to get back to you".

MLO's voice mail says "This is Marcus Ormond in R&D at MetaCortex. I'm away from my desk. Leave a message and I'll try to get back to you when I can"

I am 99% sure I hear "I am away from my desk, leave a message and I'll try to get back to you..." in the phonecall.

fwiw I am using the .wav of the phonecall from Kat's MetaDex.

Just to clear some things up, I did some DSP work on different parts of the phone call to clean things up, and the results were given in one of the Katgirl update threads here:
http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=3177
(about 5 posts down)
To summarize, indeed the phrase "I am away from my desk, leave a message and I'll try to get back when I can" is in there, but modulated. Have no idea how Defy spotted this without doing any demodulation work...

In regards to "prepared to transmit", I still get "da dah da da detected" or sometihng like that. I also did some minor DSP work on that section.

Just wanted to post this, because a lot of the phone call discussion exists on the Katgirl Metadex [Nov 13] forum.

pooh, somehow i missed that other post. Thought I'd stumbled on something groundbreaking!

I guess I just hear different things than everyone else. Or maybe it's because I've been listening to this thing over and over for hours. But I picked up the "leave me a message" at first and the more i listened to it, the more it became apparent.

BTW, after listening to Ormond's voicemail, i am 100% sure it's the one in the call.

After listening to this a few times and reading the PM's reply about us missing something in it, I have a feeling its a portent of the future.

The phrase "what are you guys doing" (or something like that), could be Katgirl being trapped in the Aquapolis.
So we have some kind of future/past/present combining going on.
