Everything is protected, even if (the)...

A little low-pass filtering to take out the high frequencies of Scratch's Flash music and I can hear:

"everything is protected, even if (the)..."

and the rest is pretty unintelligble. Once you know to listen for it, that's not too hard to hear in the original. I've uploaded my filtered version ... it's a .wav, about half a meg:

(EDIT: Link removed ... much better versions available now)

Man, I hear all kinds of stuff...

I thought it sounded like "have you been detected?" or "have we been detected?"

I did a little bit of noise reduction and a little filtering... It's not much better, but it's a little clearer.

Just a off-topic comment; the sound at the end sounds like something from the first Matrix movie. I can't place it, though.

In any case, my thought is that this data was possibly captured / transmitted by the MetaCortechs AI system at the Aquapolis. I think it's trying to warn us of something the people are up to.

You guys, I swear I hear a bit of that background music from that one file...It's killing me, I can't remember what it was, but remember, it was a picture and it had some background music, and it was kind of spacy, know what I'm talking about? Listen for it, it's like a synth-bell sound, almost halfway through. What the hell was that file!? Ah, it's killing me!

tracked where it came from, more content, I'll check

On my headphones that's a lot clearer! For work like this, I use earbuds ... no way to get that sound any closer to your ear Very Happy

The first guy talks too fast and with an accent (Greek?) ... seems sped up and slowed down in places. He sounds excited/concerned ... deep breath in the middle. I've used pitch shift to slow him down a bit:

"(name? something -man) tracked where it came from, more content, I'll check bay security and logs".

Here's my file, a little over half a meg .wav. I'll start working from your new version now Very Happy

That's much clearer! Wow!

I hear "...object based security analogs."

I also hear that garbled lower voice say something like "______ department, the/your projected five hundred percent, was wrong."

Yeah, I like that better ... something like:

"Everything is projected, even if this 500 percent (proves to be a{ccurate?}) ..."

Board meeting talk ... looks like we're getting a broad cross section of the data one can glean from MetaCortechs in audio form ... a collage if you will.

When I heard "Zeus, What are you doing?" and the voice that answered, reminded me of Hal from Space Odyssey 2001.

Re: "Everything is projected, even if this 500 percent

In response to xnbomb's low pass filter:

OK, now I hear "Have you been protected/detected? Here's an extra five hundred percent. Good luck."

[SPEC] Rampant speculation

Please forgive my inevitable foolishness.

Okay, sounds like Scratch hit Metacortechs pretty hard. In the audio log, we hear Scratch's music (a later addition to the recording, or was the music actually playing during the event?) in the background. It seems reasonable to conclude that Scratch was involved somehow, and probably that he either caused the events recorded in the phone call, was responsible for the phone call being sent out, or both.

So, the question is...why?

The phone call is so garbled that it's difficult to get any real information from it about exactly what happened. If I wanted to reveal a specific incident, I'd try to find another way.

I consider two other possibilities, though:

1) It could be an attempt to discredit Metacortechs or cause its customers to lose confidence in the company. The tone of the message is rather disturbing. However, I don't think it likely that any Metacortechs customer who recieved this call and /wasn't/ a paranoid puzzle hunter would draw any connections. Of course, that's assuming that Scratch doesn't specifically know about us.

2) It could be Scratch saying, "HEY! LOOK WHAT I CAN DO!" Now that he's broken ties with Ceaser, and since he's already demonstrated the ability to compromise Metacortechs' security with the bigmclargehuge, he might be having a little fun (or, if he knows Ceaser to be directly connected with Metacortechs, he could be going for a bit of revenge).

So, what does all this mean?

Damned if I know. I like the idea of Scratch hacking Aquapolis and/or Metacortechs and causing their speakers to play his music, but that could just as easily be an addition afterwards. And of course, I'm only looking at Scratch's possible motivations and not any meta-game reasons.

I guess I'm wondering how significant the actual content of the call is. I wouldn't be surprised if it was just Scratch's way of saying "Verily, thou art 0wned." ...not that that will stop me from trying to understand the REST of the message....

You are right, Yanka. I have the message saved on my voicemail. It starts with some weird music and then a female voice says "Aquapolis" or "Aquapoli". Can't check it right now, the phones being used.
