I gotta tell you, I think a lot of this is just hearing things that aren't really there. Perhaps we're over-analysing some of this stuff. I think it's worth picking apart, but be careful of making assumptions of what you hear, and if you do think you hear something "groundbreaking", ask what other people hear first before posting your thoughts. The power of suggestion can "make" you hear something that wasn't there.

i totally agree, half the stuff that people say u can hear...i cant hear, it might sound vaguely like it starts with the same letter...but usually its nothing like what people say...we are hearing things we want to hear half the time, what we have established we've heard is pretty much right, but now we are really stretching what we think we hear...

Also, do we all think that the recording is a puzzle for us to work out in order to get further, or do we think its just for storyline purposes?

i just received this email:

Quote:
Dear BetaTest applicant,

On the evening of October 31st, a large electrical storm passed through a
portion of the Pacific Northwest. Power surges and outages were reported in the
Redland area in particular. Our own backup systems survived the disturbance.

It has come to our attention that our MetaBroadcast server (which has remote
connections to outside providers) momentarily went down, resulting in automated
phone calls going out to a portion of our current applicant database.
Metacortechs and its affiliates would like to extend sincere apologies for any
confusion or inconvenience this might have caused for you.

Our technicians are currently securing all telephony circuits and lines. Your
information is valued, and secure, and we do not anticipate any future
occurrences.

Thank you!

MetaCortex Beta Test Team

Awww, just when it was gettin' fun someone comes along to spoil it Sad

You're right of course Very Happy

Which was part of the reason for the silly titles to some of my attachments and this can be demonstrated with the "dude" clip which couldn't possibly make sense reversed right?

But at the end of the day, the idea of the forum is to discuss things and compare ideas which would be difficult if no-one says what they hear.

So just to be fair and clear, I'll re-iterate that the opinions expressed in my posts are mine alone and are not intended to reflect the views or opinions of the management or shareholders Very Happy

Cool

Hmm... So the scrambled MetaCortex page and the phone calls were the result of this electrical storm. Interesting, but it still doesn't give us any hint as to what the content of the phone call was.

This would also lead us to believe that perhaps Scratch had nothing to do with the phone call. Clearly he's a part of the phone call in some respect, but perhaps it's just a recording he left on a server somewhere, that somehow became part of the phone call. I'm wondering if we won't eventually start finding some of these audio files on some of the various game websites.

So here's how this all went down:

Electrical storm hits, causing the MetaCotex web page to "mess up", as well as sending out a bunch of automated phone calls. The phone calls consist of a bunch of miscellaneous stuff we're not "supposed" to hear - either previously recorded phone calls amongst MetaCortex and it's clients, or other recordings such as security recordings on various servers that are in-game.

I'm wondering if some other unexplained stuff might eventually come out about this "storm", and perhaps end up as part of the string of unexplained events in Beth's archives.

Oh, of course there's also the possibility that this is just MetaCortex's "excuse" for what happened, trying to downplay an attack on their systems.

I'm almost more inclined to believe that than the electrical storm.

sounds like a cover up to me...i doubt it was the storm that sent those calls out, most likely coz of scratch or something...but either way, they are still trying to cover things up, either way they didnt want us to hear those recordings...but we did Smile

The "storms" were responsible for the flash discrepancy, and they replaced the file with one that did not mention the labyrinth

The e-mail mentions that the MetaBroadcast server has remote connections. Could still include Aquapolis.

No I meant the start of the phone message, the posted one apparantly has a bit missing.

I have the entire message sitting on my answering machine, including the part you missed. Can anybody suggest how to get it on my computer?

The beginning, which I could mostly make out, is:

*noise* - sounds kind of like Matrix code

###### this message is being left for you 5:39 am Friday morning ###### ###### people Aquapolis

The ###### are words I couldn't make out. My machine time-stamped it as 9:42 pm eastern time, so it could be a reference to a time zone difference (probably wherever Greece is).

Hope this helps everyone who is working off the mp3 that just starts too late.
