Dude, the ARG and the plot for the movie confirmed that Tron took place in 1982.

I believe this 'debate' (argument clinic? LOL) came up because people were trying to assign release dates of all the ENCOM arcade games. Fixing the year of the movie's events was part of developing that timeline. So not really OT at all, though it became a verbal tug-of-war perhaps much longer than merited by the results. Smile
