I do sort of agree about the slight disappointment, to be honest. I love the trailer, but the fact that it was a standard Yahoo! website was a little ehh...

looks like the whole identity raid online game was kinda sponsored by Yahoo. Flickr (subsidiary of Yahoo) and Yahoo mail...or am i just seeing things?

I would assume so. Flickr is popular, but I feel like Yahoo! is so outdated now, that it must've sponsored. I loved that puzzle though Very Happy

Probably brought in revenue for the ARG and helped give Disney a monetary break. Who knows, maybe Yahoo paid for the Identity Discs or something in return for the advertising?

I wonder what the purpose of the photos at each poster is? They were oddly specific about how those pics were to be taken.

Maybe that is part of the "identity" raid? These pics are to be used to identify those people at another point in the future?

I bet it's just to make sure that the right person gets a package, as in, they actually followed the directions and played the game. There were probably a bunch of people who just bypassed the poster and ran straight to the package pickup spot, to try to be one of the first 32. The picture would verify that the individual was indeed at the poster.

Not so sure about that..... They also took down our email addresses and part of number from either ID or License (The last part I suspect was to help keep people from getting more than one.) There has to be more to it than just to make sure we went to the first spot first because otherwise why would there be two spots...

I didn't take part but it makes sense to me. You had to get your pic at the first location in order to get the package, otherwise it would have just been a mad dash to be first to the drop. It made it more of a challenge. I think they took down info just to make sure folks didn't repeat the challenge and grab multiple packets for scalping purposes. As far as taking e-mails, it was probably just to add you to the FL mailing list in case it was your first FL event.

Again, just hypotheticals, but they have taken this info at each event and nothing else has come of it.

Actually, now that I think of it...If they wanted your email address, and a picture of you, face forward (did they keep the picture, or did you just present it as evidence?)...maybe they want to digitize you into the game grid, so to speak. You might get an email sending you to a URL, where you input that photo, and it puts you into a program avatar or something. it makes sense, seeing as you already have an identity disk.

As for why there are two spots, to prevent a major mob scene. If they give out the packages at the same spot as the poster, there's going to be people pushing and shoving to get in line to get the goods, along with people trying to get pictures taken. Having them run an extra block will spread that potential mob out over a short, but managable, distance. I know most of us are decent folk, but sadly that's not true for the rest of the world, and people can do some pretty strange things to get their hands on something they perceive as valuable.

Cool idea, but they did not keep the photos -- just looked at them to verify location and identity. (I don't want to think about how much longer it would have taken to process each person if they'd had to try to figure out a way to upload digital photos from cameras and phones and whatnot...)

Meant to point this out earlier as I noticed it in the new trailer we unlocked last Thursday but forgot until today. Probably means nothing other than a nod to the ARG, but check this out:

Then, good news! They were shown to be upcoming toys at the Tron booth at Comic-Con. The white one was listed as:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Kevin Flynn's Lightcycle

I think it's less likely of a nod to the ARG, than the ARG using visual cues from the movie itself. Either way, Awesomeness!

(I keep finding myself hoping that, somehow, at the end of all of this, we're going to get a set of buttons in the mail with the various badges we've earned... or maybe patches, to be sewn onto some kind of sash or something like we're scouts...)

Certain folks around here might be working on such a project and already have all the files finished...They might even have a sample batch done...

wild idea, the personalization would make it pretty damn near impossible. at the end we all get a Data Disk with our online code accomplishments on the disk. Our "stored data", record of what we accomplished and learned while "on the grid". Hmmmm, a shirt with the Data Disk logo on it and the list of our accomplishments would be cool. Kind of like a concert tour shirt, logo on the front and our badges on the back(tour dates). An official data disk would just be frakkin sweet in my opinion. Smile
