Or something to tell us to quit searching for exact numbers.

I have a theory I can't test right now because I don't have Photoshop on this computer and I dislike GIMP.

Typing in rotation gives us the same set of numbers. Maybe we need to rotate the star image. I'm wondering if we lay out a circle with 26 radii, each lettered with one letter from the alphabet, then rotate the star image counterclockwise at the specified angles if the planet seen in the picture will line up with letters that spell out an 8 letter word.

I really don't want to install GIMP here and then spend a bunch of time trying to figure out how to do something I already know how to do easily in Photoshop. Anybody care to give it a whirl?

Using this circle:

I did what you described and got WVUTTSPN if I reset the angle of the image each time and got WUQKFZQE if I let the angles build off the previous ones.

If they represent planetary bodies or celestial bodies, then yeah they're constantly in motion. But that would mean Maxis is using current figures rather than average ones, which would make this very difficult.

Thanks! I also shifted the alphabet so that letter A aligned with the planet with the image at 0°. Didn't help though. I even reversed the alphbet as if the image was moving clockwise rather than counter-clockwise.

Maybe I'm on the right track. Maybe not. Something tells me that we aren't looking for any type of data, though. First, star produced 10 numbers. Then when orbit was added it gave only 8. Since then the numbers have been changing pretty regularly.

It does appear that the numbers have changed by 1/100th again. Dunno

Startup and star changed.

Star now gives:
0.00001585 light distance per solar orbit

Number of Orbits:
-21.39 -38.00 -54.44 -70.36 -72.52 -89.23 -127.71 -150.92

So the "Number of Orbits" thing is probably helpful. And the startup also changed, including Trust. Trust gives:

They're letters, but they're really hard to see.

I tried but all that I'm pretty sure of right now is:

NOW WE UNDERSTAND...THEY WERE...HAPPY TO HELP...WE RISK EVERYTHING ON THESE BEINGS...NEXT STEP

I'm too tired to stare at it any longer so if it's not solved tomorrow I'll give it another go.

I think the part after BEINGS? and before WEMUST is ALLLIFE.SIR?

It sounds stupid but I believe it's the only thing that makes sense.

Attached is the complete list of what that part could be.

Got it.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Quite Unexpected Earnestness Surely Trust Is Our Next Step. = "Questions" gives "Trust questionable. THANK YOU."

The only real anomaly was the ZZ so I was focusing on that and the phrase quite unexpected earnestness was very odd.

I think I'm on to something with star. Orbits might equal years, in which case:

-150.93 ~= Aug, 30 1859 ( http://www.solarstorms.org/SS1859.html )
-127.71 ~= Nov, 19 1882 ( http://www.solarstorms.org/SS1882.html )
-89.23 ~= May, 12 1921 ( http://www.solarstorms.org/SS1921.html )
-72.52 ~= Jan, 28 1938 ( http://www.solarstorms.org/SS1938.html )
-70.36 ~= Mar, 26 1940 ( This one doesn't seem to fit?? )
-54.44 ~= Feb, 25 1956 ( This one doesn't fit either?? )
-38.01 ~= Aug, 1 1972 ( This one didn't seem to fit... but it did more than fit )

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
After looking deeper into the last one above, I saw there was a huge solar flare that day, not a solar storm so I entered solar flare and it said "Star identified... THANK YOU"

For completion sake there was a huge solar storm in 1989 the last date mentioned.

ETA: The mystery of the changing numbers is now solved Wink

ETA2: Ooo, now that they're all solved a few things on the site have changed. Given the new message I typed in "Midnight" and it said outreach connected, we never had that explained here did we?

But AWESOME job, though! Wink Maybe when it says "We'll contact you soon," it's going to send emails to people with the emails that we typed in.
