I wonder if Ursa Major is visible during the times on Josh's rare fish chart? Or high in the sky during those times?

Anagram maybe?

Wonder if there is some hidden message in the text at the bottom of the letter? The letters ends asking if we are ready to begin then gives

"Remember, kids: Real Spacemen Love Rocket Poppeteers!!!"

Is that the correct punctuation to begin that sentence?

Running the sequence of white and black stars as binary. One set with white as 1 and one with white as 0. Will edit with results...

Edit: After running a few different variations I got some where both characters were regular text and some where I had to translate one or both from ampersand codes the translator spit out.

--First one in each set is WHITE = 0 and BLACK = 1, and then I swap them--

Left to right across the page: 1101100001111000 = Øx
Number swap: 0010011110000111 = '‡

Left column of stars then right, then bottom: 1100110110011000 = ͘
Number swap: 0011001001100111 = 2g

Clockwise starting on right of Coop: 0110011000110011 = f3
Number swap: 1001100111001100 = ™Ì

I cant really make anything out of these, but my favorite attempt is the first try of that last set. F3 is the key frequently used to activate a search function...maybe a message to some of our seaworthy posters? Laughing

What if there is only 1 star? Perhaps Coop is the only star.Star as in famous?

Edit- Also by saying how many stars are on this page, page sounds to me to be referring to the RP.com page.Plus its asking that next to the RP.com page picture. So perhaps it only has something to do with the page itself?

How do I do this trout thing?

Hey guys,

I worked in a print shop for 5 years and just wanted to say that most high-end paper companies watermark their paper. It can be used for other things, such as matching paper with envelopes, but ultimately it's a mill's way of branding their paper. That said, they used quality paper, not the cheapo stuff you buy at Wal-Mart.

I got my letter today, and I'm in NY. I didn't mail out the form until sometime last month, which makes me think that they must have waited until they got a specific number of responses, or waited until a certain date before sending out all of the letters.

This confirms the theory that was floating around that they where waiting. I had sent in mine very shortly after the print out was discovered.

If you think of Ursa Major as the Big Dipper, the leading edge of the cup points to Polaris, the North Star, which is easily and often visible in the Northern hemisphere night sky.

So Ursa Major would be visible over many hours in a given night, not just a few specific ones (i.e. tide chart), since the constellation would revolve around Polaris as Earth rotates.

And a constellation having overlapping times of viewing (as the tide chart gives) makes no sense what so ever — a constellation wouldn't rise and set twice in a day, either.

I got my letter today. I sent out the form without the maze the very next day after that night when the form was found.

However, on the back of my letter reads the following:

*Dear Poppeteers Astronaut Candidate:

The Astronaut Name you have chosen, "Slusho?", has already been submitted by another candidate.

Please resubmit your application with your new, unique name to:

Rocket Poppeteers!
ATTN: Astronaut Admissions Committee
P.O. Box #1331
Minot, ND 58702

(Note: There is a star next to "Dear" at the beginning of the letter.)

I wonder if I should go ahead and send in another application with a different name?
