Received mine today as well. I am very impressed with not only the quality of the paper but the detail of the printing as well. My youngest son wants me to frame it, haha.

I got my letter today. I sent out the form without the maze the very next day after that night when the form was found.

However, on the back of my letter reads the following:

*Dear Poppeteers Astronaut Candidate:

The Astronaut Name you have chosen, "Slusho?", has already been submitted by another candidate.

Please resubmit your application with your new, unique name to:

Rocket Poppeteers!
ATTN: Astronaut Admissions Committee
P.O. Box #1331
Minot, ND 58702

(Note: There is a star next to "Dear" at the beginning of the letter.)

I wonder if I should go ahead and send in another application with a different name?

Interesting! Yes, I definitely recommend submitting a new name.

This is a good indicator of online registration/account use in this ARG, since players must have distinct 'astronaut names' — thus avoiding duplicate accounts.

But geez, how many duplicate letters will they be sending out at that rate — with handwritten names, no less? Surprising.

Totally agree, you should go ahead and send out another name!

They call us candidates. Lol I guess we'll definitely have to prove to them we're good enough to make it fully into the program!

I'd say no. If they want me to resubmit my application, that looks to mean that they're still taking them in.

Go for it... the game has barely begun.

And as noted, if those who already sent in their form are still considered "candidates", then none of us are "in" the program yet. New players will be joining for quite a while... they'd certainly hope so.

They are probably going to wait a little while longer to open up the RP site. Perhaps not. But the majority of the first wave has theirs today. I'm thinking the soonest we will see anything is tomorrow.

The best part of this is that this means the viral for Super 8 is already going to be much more interactive than Cloverfield was. I liked what we learned from Cloverfield, and it made the film much less of a 'dead document' and more of a world to explore, but real, individualized response to all the players is way more interesting.

Just got mine! SUPER excited!

One thing of note:

When I sent my astronaut name in it was "SGT. Starborn" (I couldn't fit the whole thing)

my letter (hand addressed, natch) was to "Sergeant Starborn".

If these are meant to be log ins, I wonder which I'll have to use?

Also, sergeant being spelled correctly (and the vastly different handwriting on mine) proves that multiple abused Paramount interns had to work on this project! <3

Canada?

I'm in Canada and I want to send in my coupon to become a candidate. However, I notice the address only asks for a ZIP and State. Has anyone from Canada sent in a coupon and received a letter back successfully?

I agree, send it in. That goes for everyone else who hadn't initially sent in the coupon. As it says on the form: "Send Coupon Now!"

Decided I might as well scan mine. Letter only. Click for larger.
