Re: Me too!
Stamp Cancellation

Glad to see our UK friends are receiving letters. Seems to clarify that the delay was due to international postage delivery time and nothing else, and it should encourage all other global players to send in their coupons to play.

Yay! That means I will get mine! Very Happy or maybe I was too late. :/
But if all those who got the letter saying someone else already had their astronaut name, and had to send in a new one, then it probably isn't too late.
I can't wait. Sad

Why would "ALWAYS USE ZIPCODE" be stamped in reverse on the back of my envelope? Its correct on the front.

Because it was placed on top of another freshly stamped envelope

Solar eclipse/ Importance of "zip code"

Badion;

To show solar flare from behind the moon, the moon would have to be a "new moon" so that it would appear as a complete circle.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solar_eclipse

As far as the zip code's importance, I doubt it 'cause foreign outgoing mail is separated (for a number of reasons) but in order to verify correct amount of postage, and the postal "mark(s)" and "killer(s)" can work properly. If it (zip phrase) was to have meant something, you would have assumed (and tested) outgoing mail requiring more than one stamp.

Raises a question, though. Has anyone sent more than one coupon in per envelope (so all the kiddies can help Coop)?

"Are you ready to begin?" asks the letter...

Yasureyoubetcha!

So,i'm guessing it would seem that whatever adventure we are going on will be co-ordinated thru the RP website which should become active now soon..

It seems that we are involved in a few different scenarios..

UK Popeteer

London here. Packet arrived today as well, seems like an age since they started to be delivered in the States but snail mail so that explains it.
Would add my scans but I don't think there's anything different from those I have already seen, other than the fact that I have three stamps because it is more expensive to post to Europe from the US compared to internally.
Still wondering about the Speedflier Fleet comments.

I'm assuming that the Superflier Fleet is just a different series of popsicles sold by Rocket Poppeteers. They have a different, slimmer shape (that's much more similar to real world Rocket Pops) as opposed to that of the standard Rocket Poppeteers.

I said the same thing yesterday when someone else brought up the eclipse idea. It just ain't astronomically feasible, folks. Very Happy

Why are you assuming that message is another popsicle flavor they have? I honestly think they just used a picture of a Bomb Pop (Jr. as I was informed earlier. Smile ) instead of redoing the art for a Rocket Pop. Just because that message is next to that picture doesn't mean that's what it is, and if it was, why would it be there anyway? I would assume it would say something like "Try our new Super Flier Fleet"

It has a meaning, but I don't know what it is yet. Smile

I gotta agree with monkeychow on this one. It's just a straightforward response and it's down there by the popsicle and is probably ad spiel for another line of pops (not flavors). On its face the whole thing is a standard face value reply without any need to overanalyze it. How many stars on the page? This many. What kind of pop is this? This kind. What kind of astronaut do you want to be? This kind.

If there's a hidden message I think it'd either be a cipher embedded or a number clue, for the stars and as was suggested before, if it has any relevance at all it'll come in handy down the road.

IMOHO I think this is more just about a pacifier, giving us something to pass the time til they're ready. I think the hook to the RP aspect would far more likely come from the STIES angle.

Ah but we will anyway Cool ... In reference to my previous point there are no overlay permutations: direct, indirect of tangential. But there's still new info in the letters, besides count the stars!

Okay, so here's a point that was previously made (waaay back in the stack by Ras originally I think) which I thought I'd bring up again with the shiny new pictures and mootings:

Anyone else think that the "moon" doesn't really look too much like the moon??

If you compare it to the Lunar Atlas the concordance is pretty poor. This could be artistic license but still... And what's with Saturn, bit random or blatant clue?? The letters clearly give us 1/2 an inch more to work on....

So with that in mind I've gone and looked for matching lunar bodies (list included for reference). The only ones that seem to match are:

    Moon
Included due to proximity and HLM maps, but poor overlap
    Mimas
Mimas' most distinctive feature is a colossal impact crater 130 kilometres (81 mi) across, named Herschel after the moon's discoverer. Mimas was one of the Gigantes of Greek mythology. Like the other giant sons of Gaia, Mimas had serpents for legs and was born fully armoured.
    Tethys
Tethys is named after the titan Tethys of Greek mythology.

NB. Latter 2 are moons of Saturn. Attached are the comparison images.

..... Is there a point to this, well maybe.. Now for pure speculation:

Saturn (the Roman equivalent of Kronos in Greek mythology), was the leader of the Titans. The Titans ruled during the golden age, before they were overthrown by the younger gods. Gaia, rightly a bit miffed, convinced the Giants to rise up against the Gods. Eventually they (giants) were defeated and buried by the gods beneath the earth, where their writhing caused volcanic activity and earthquakes. Man was born from the blood of the giants

Panspermia hypothesis anyone (Impact crators, gods, titans)??
........

Additionally I've been looking for a matching Rocket. Though I can't yet find a precise match, it is pretty similar to the Saturn generation of Rockets. Any advances??
