As a collector of classic arcade cabs (working a deal on a TRON cab and hope to have one of my own VERY soon) my first reaction was "You need to call grift out for defacing a classic cab" but I really didn't feel like being a troll. Glad to see someone else brought up the subject.

All I know is that if it were my TRON and someone had done this to it... well, they would no longer be allowed near my machines or in my place of business.

Any defacing of these machines is bad. There are a limited number of them, and limited number of replacement parts. You think it would be good? fine.. explain that to the owner of the machines/location. Erasing some graffiti is one thing, but erasing the graffiti AND removing a sticker without damaging the artwork underneath it is even worse.

Very uncool.

Fair enough, point taken. Shame on me. I was just trying to improve a dire scene, covering up some offensive language with something that was both related to the game and would give a smile to some of the people playing the ARG. I'll leave my badge at the door and de-rez myself as punishment.

I wish this bar would have the same amount of drive and care that you all do. I do ask though that you take this energy and contact the bar to get them to restore their machine. Looking at the quality of everything else in there, plus my experience in the past trying to get bars to just repair the actual working parts of pinball machines, it's gonna take a miracle to convince them to spend a dime on it.

lmao Your new avatar looks pitiful! It would be better if he was writing on a chalk board, "I will not deface the Tron machine." a hundred times.
I'd say you've learned your lesson and can come out of the corner. If you promise you won't do it again (unless it's a Discs of Tron game Twisted Evil ) then it's all good.

Hey Grift, didn't mean to start a witch hunt at your expense. Sorry about that. From a avid collector, you are forgiven. If you really want to pay penance for your crime, I say you offer to buy the TRON off of the operator and then restore it to it prior (and proper) glory. I can't imagine that the game earns much for him now. Given the upcoming release of the new film, I am pretty sure that the value on these cabs will go up once the general public jumps on the bandwagon later this fall. Think of it as an investment.

Where's this bar at? I collect and restore games and I'd love to pick up a Tron and restore it back to as close to original as I could.

Good luck with that. TRON machines go for anywhere from $400 - $700 these days.

Just confirmed that I will be picking up my very own TRON arcade cab this weekend from a fellow collector here in New England. Stay tuned for pics. Cool

Nice! Rock On are you going to reset the highscores or leave them?

Most likely reset them. Not sure what the battery/hs save system is like on the TRON Machines, so will have to look into that.

About 3 weeks ago someone posted an article about Encom's Video Pinball 2.0. Many here thought it a hoax. It wasn't but it sorta was! It was real, but it was built by a couple of guys in their spare time. Took them 2 years to build it, but man was it gorgeous! Check out the pics I got during the unveiling when I went to CAX. You cabinet builders may get a kick out of this! Sad Sorry for the poor quality, but all I brought was my older iPhone 3G. Sad

I would literally KILL for that VP! That is very, very cool. Picking up my TRON cab tomorrow. Will have pics once it is home and in my arcade.

Hey folks, look what I picked up today.

Cool

The game plays fine, but needs some love (new paint, shroud, side art, control panel overlay and T-molding). I plan to restore this beauty to her formal and full glory. Stay tuned for updates.
