At the same time, this is a series that is making them bank. I mean, with DVD sales and with Ad support, it seems like a small thing to be able to go to NY. I doubt they DID, but if they did it wouldn't be too hard to believe.

I think you GROSSLY overestimate the "bank" they're making from this.

Not positive on this, but when the first season came out on DVD, didn't they make 1000 copies and sold out within the first week or something like that?

Selling them at $11 a piece, that would be $11,000 right there. That doesn't even include the rest of season 1 sales and even season 2.

I understand they gotta pay the producer and what not but still, that's a pretty good amount of money.

$11,000 After paying the producer and paying for the production of the DVD's they probably also split the money up among everyone involved. I doubt they'd keep it in an "MH fun" plus they still have to pay for gas to go to filming locations, personal stuff, etc etc.

I might be decent money for some college kids but it's not that much

Not to poop on your parade, but this is old news broseph. It was the main reason people kept saying the entry 22/23 basement could be revisited (although I fail to see how going back there would be anything but repetitive at this point)

Let's estimate that they sold 5000 copies between season 1 and 2 (which is lowballing). Shipping costs are already paid off by the purchaser. Production costs on DVDs are fairly cheap, I'd estimate it costs $2 avg to make one of the season boxes and discs. That leaves $45k profit at least ($11 selling price - $2 to make x 5000)

Kiril probably takes 10% of that (even though I don't really understand what he does besides manage DVD sales, I don't get why he would still be writing for the series, plus he lives on the other side of the country IIRC). That still leaves roughly $40k to split up between the three, and that's assuming kiril is taking a large 10% of the profit. I highly doubt they pay anyone, as they really never use anyone else in filming. I also highly doubt brian/seth/sarah got paid, as they were only on screen for a little bit and were friends before the thing started. Jessica is probably the only paid actress and if she was paid it wasn't a lot (probably a few hundred at most for all her stuff)

So yeah, they deff made some nice money on DVD sales. I could be severely botching the cost of making a dvd, but I don't see how it could cost that much if you have the equipment. Lightscribe DVDs are less than $1 a pop, and the DVD box is simply printing something on material. Even if it cost them $3 to make each and $2000 to rent the equipment, they still made bank.

That's also assuming only 2500 people bought season 1 and 2500 bought season 2. Those numbers are really low considering the number of subscribers they have. (almost 300k)

Pretty sure once they started monetizing the series the actors would want royalties, even Seth, Brian and Sarah. I'm guessing Troy, Joseph and Tim are decent fellows so they indeed cut them all in on royalties. So you have to account for them for a small portion.

I would could the minor actors in for a small bit since the series is monetized.

Plus they're not making the DVDs themselves, someone else is making them (proof being the fact that my order was shipped from California not Alabama). Plus the site for buying the DVDs is run through PayPal, so they take a cut. Plus royalties for the artists who designed the boxes (though to be honest I don't know 100% if either of the artists got or wanted royalties).

Also Tim and Joseph are still in college I believe (and even anything Troy still has left to pay for). If they were smart most of that money would go towards school.

Yeah they made a lot, but at the end of it all they probably don't have as much as people seem to think.

Don't think much more needs talked about in the location's thread
