Oh yes, I was very untrusting of his assistant in TV2, though nothing came of that. I would side with the governor as well if I were in the game. I do wonder if you're right about the assistant being the invisible hand.

In TV2 several ghosts tried portraying the Governor as evil. It later came out that they were the problem but only after a good bit of unnecessary grief. This is a new game so anything is possible, but in the past two adventures the Governor has been benevolent and hardly visible until the end. He usually lets his underlings do all the work and shows up at the end to clean house/straighten things out. For some reason he has a bad history of hiring unscrupulous ghosts, but he himself has never hurt the residents of the village.

You're worried about your new friend, but you're more interested in what is going on in the Sketchy Museum, so you take the car keys and head over to the door.

"Wait up!" your friend calls, and you turn around to see that the catatonic state has passed. The two of you approach the museum together.

There, you knock and wait.

And wait.

And wait.

A strange sound comes from inside. It sounds like someone crying. Or laughing? It's difficult to tell with the echo.

There is a broken window to the right of the door. You might be able to squeeze in, or you could try knocking again.

Havent drafted a reply yet but I'm probably taking the window. Wink

Welcome to all of the new travellers! I hope to see you around. There should be another spot opening soon, if all goes to plan. Very Happy

Quote:
Taking on your job as only a true pastry chef could do, you command the kitchen and whip up not two pies, but three. All this in time for you and Mr. Garden to have a nice drink together.

But he is not interested in whiskey.

"I must go out for just a moment," he tells you. "Please watch these pies, and I will be back before they are done. I would not recommend you leave the oven alone, whatever you do."

And in less than a second, he has vanished.

You are alone in the kitchen/lounge inside the oven. You are drinking whiskey.

Upstairs, a battle between Mrs. Swelter and Miss Sepsis wages on.

I really had no idea what to respond with, so I followed the old adage: "When in doubt, make bad puns."

Quote:
With nothing to do but sip whiskey while I wait for Mr Garden to return, I decide I may as well take a seat. Sitting down in the warm glow of the sub-oven, I keep a close eye on the pies as the meringue mixture hardens. There appears to be something... strange about the three pies, something that I can't quite place my finger on. Realistically, though, it wouldn't come as much of a shock if they were magical pies; the ovens in this Village are very strange places, after all.

My mind begins to wonder what Mr Garden is doing while he's away. I must make a point to ask him when returns. Surely he can trust me; after all, I do owe him my life. "It must be important," I intone quietly to myself. "For him to leave while they continue fighting above-oven. Aboven. Hehe."

The sound of the battle upstairs fills my ears. "Don't worry, Fractal. It'll all be over soon." Removing a pair of sunglasses from my pocket, I mutter, "They don't have - " I slide the sunglasses on, and continue, " - a ghost of a chance."

I was wondering if ol' Mr Garden was off at the moon tree meeting, but then I realised we still have a few days to go until the meeting begins. If I manage to get out of this oven-lounge, I'll be waiting there, pie in hand.

Showing great kindness, you ignore how eerie it feels to touch a ghost – cold and hollow – and you comfort the child.

You promise to come right back or to let the boy come with you as you search for the doctor, but he clutches your shirt. "NESSA! No," he cries. "Don't leave! It isn't safe out there. They're taking people and making them do things. They'll take you, too!"

Right then, someone else appears in the room. He is another ghost. A nice looking older man, he nods hello at you and then says to the boy, "There you are. It's time to come back home."

The man looks at you and smiles. "I'm sorry if he has been troubling you. This young boy tends to be a bit of a nuisance when travelers come to the village. You mustn't let anything he's said bother you."

You look at the boy. His eyes are wide, and he keeps his fingers wrapped around the end of your shirt.

My Reply
Quote:
Whether the boy is right or wrong, he seems to genuinely believe what he is saying, unless he's a very convincing actor. And though the new ghost appears to be kind and polite, I'm not in the habit of letting children go off with people they're obviously terrified of. On the other hand, I'd rather not draw the ire of the villagers if I can help it... Dilemma.

I smile cheerfully at the new ghost, hoping he hadn't heard too much of our conversation. "He hasn't bothered me at all, actually. I believe he was looking for another villager, and I think he must've thought I was a monster or intruder. Unfamiliar faces and all that."

"But where are my manners? My name is Nessa- might I know who I'm speaking to?" I offer a handshake to the older gentleman, not to keen on touching another ghost, but not wanting to be impolite.

And through the window I go:

Quote:
"Oh look, a conveniently broken window. Fancy that." I hesitate for just a moment, wondering whether Transition Village law enforcement authorities are tied in with the FBI's automated fingerprint identification system (AFIS), but the hesitation quickly passes like last night's curry dinner. It sounds like someone's in trouble (or possibly something is really quite hilarious), and I'm determined to find out.

"I'll see if I can get the door open from the inside," I offer my fellow traveler.

Careful to avoid any broken glass, sharp corners, and other jagged edges, I hoist myself into the Museum.

Well, Robbie, looks like we've bumped into one another. Here's what I got:

Quote:
You exit the nursery, going back the way you came and making sure to grab a life bead on your way. You grab the other door and walk out into the hallway. From the corner of your eye, you think you see something (someone?) materializing in the room you just left.

The hallway echoes with the sound of another door shutting just as you step out.

There is one door to your right. To your left, there are four more doors. There is also a stairway leading down across the hallway to your left.

And here's what I sent:

Quote:
"Wait... what was that? Maybe it was the servant girl!" I spin around and throw open the door, startled to find a man in a jacket and fedora opening the closet. "No, wait! There's horrible smelling laundry in there! Don't!" But it's too late. My puny car freshener barely masks the scent of the rags that I am wearing, and there's no way that it can protect both myself and this new traveler from the horrors beyond that door. I plug my nose in anticipation...

Hey Guys, sorry for not posting this before now, but my work is trying to prevent me from getting onto unfiction...-.- And I suck at timezones. So most of this happened yesterday/today.

Quote:
A spot has opened, and you are next in line!

You are in a small, dark room, standing on a cold, wooden floor. In front of you is a thin door. To your left is a tiny bed. Someone appears to be hiding under the sheets. To your right is an old dresser and another thin door. There is a closet at the back wall.

You notice that the thin door in front of you is covered in numbers.

Welcome to Transition Village! This is the Servant's Quarters of the Governor's mansion. You have a purpose here; try to figure out what it is. There are ghosts, so stay on guard. If you see other travelers along the way, be sure to say hello! Any changes you make to the town are permanent until someone else changes them, so please be considerate... and careful.

My response yesterday:
Quote:
"Well this is pleasant.." I murmer, glancing around the rather gloomy looking little room. A shiver runs up my spine as I register that the room is, infact, freezing and I am in no way prepared for this. I look around for a source of heat and/or light, but a quick glance leaves me with nothing. I turn to my left and notice the bed, tossing up whether or not to make off with one of the sheets, but quickly decide that the very little warmth it would provide is not worth being labelled a thief or some sort of fiendish stealer of sheets....that and the sight of a person shaped lump hiding beneath the covers.

I ponder for a moment, the prospect of exploring the room further. There's an old dresser and a closet and the stickybeak inside of me is dying to look inside. But the idea of looking through someone else's things WHILST they're in the room, doesn't appeal. At all. It'd probably end up being downright awkward. I mean the threat of being caught would certainly be amplified. I inch closer to the bed, looking around for a stick or something to poke the form with, wary of getting too close, espercially considering all the crazy stuff I've heard about this town...

I take a deep breath, once again my observational skills have failed me and I've resigned myself to the fact that I'll have to do this the hard way. Darting forward I poke the lump with my finger and then dart back again, almost to the opposite side of the room, standing in what I hope is an impressive defensive pose. You can never be too careful...

Quote:
Cautiously, you creep over to the form in the bed, dash up, poke it, and dash back. It wiggles.

It sniffles.

There is a person under there, and she is crying.

"Go away," she moans. And then she peeks out from under the covers. It is a young ghost dressed as a servant.

My response today:

Quote:
I leap back....Ghosts don't usually factor into my list of everyday aquaintances. Crying people, I can deal with...crying ghosts? Well...I guess if you're a ghost you would have something to cry about...I shudder.

"Um...sorry about that.." I say quietly. I feel bad for my first reaction. The ghost clearly thinks it's people...or atleast it was people once, so it should really be treated as such. I straighten up a little and hold out my hand, feeling ridiculous, but wanting to be polite all the same. "My name is Mary. And you are...? Is there anything I can do to help?"

Granted I have no idea what I could be getting myself into, but I get the distinct impression that it would probably be impossible to stay out of trouble here.

A Thought...

whilst waiting for a new message from the folks at TV, I decided to do a little research into the back story of TV, ie. purity towers and some other things.

I came across a website called http://www.proscriptparty.com/ and something from one of my emails from the people at TV rang to mind...
I checked one of my first emails from them, and there were pamphlets about the Proscript Party and the Grotians on a desk i checked.
I found a great article on ARGNet about the whole conflict:
http://www.argn.com/2009/09/after_purity_towers_confessions_of_a_double-crosser/
I have been bored waiting to make my next move, so im taking a shot in the dark here, but do you think they may have anything to do with the revolutionaries and the upcoming meeting saturday night? Its probably just a throwback to the purity towers and something to make us go "oh cool" but maybe its something.

Still have no idea who my fellow traveler is, but we are wondering around together.

Quote:
Your fellow traveler takes a cursory glance around the room and finds little of interest. Perhaps if you both looked a bit closer in a specific area, you might find more, but maybe not.

Responding to the traveler's initial request to go downstairs, you choose to head out. "If you say we should go downstairs, then downstairs we go!"

With that, the two of you turn and head back to the hallway and down the stairs to the lower level. You are in the same hallway you were in before.

The stairway behind you (where you came from) leads up. A stairway in front of you leads down. To your right are three doors, and to your left is one door. At the far end of the hallway are more stairs, one set going up (presumably to the same level as the stairs near you), and one set going down (again, presumably to the same level as the stairs near you).
