FLYNN'S ARCADE 2010 - THURSDAY NIGHT

I forgot about the video I shot on my flip camera. This is video from Flynn's Arcade on Thursday night. For those that visited the Arcade on Friday and Saturday, the experience on Thursday night was slightly different.

Unlike the experience Friday and Saturday, Thursday's experience closely replicated the scenes from the Tron Legacy trailer, with visitors entering a shut down arcade, with the games all under plastic tarps. Also, when the visitors were finally transported to the End of Line Club in the world of Tron, the club was populated by programs (wearing actual costumes from the movie) and a there was a live DJ.

The DJ wasn't just a DJ.... It was Jason Bentley the music director for Tron Legacy. He told me some interesting stuff about the soundtrack.... The reason it's taking Daft Punk so long to write it is that they're not just doing techno like we know from them, but they're doing the score to... They're writing the orchestral parts too! and as this is different for them, it's taking longer. Jason said he is pleased with what he's heard so far and if I recall correctly, he said they've turned in 17 tracks so far.

I have noticed that both trailers and the official Tron website tracks do include "classical" elements. I'm stoked for Daft being able to work in a "new" realm of music for them. However, I still think they should have brought in Wendy Carlos (The original Tron film composer) as a creative consultant or some such. Wendy did the score for the game Tron 2.0, and I think that was one of the best video game soundtracks to date. It could have easily blended right into the TL "feel". Wink

Not to end the lovefest for Shad0, but I just got around to adding some of pics of the clues hanging in the End of Line Club. While there were more than six hanging in the club, there were six codes.

You had to use the EOLC coaster as a decoder and place it correctly on the clue to get the code. You then used the codes on http://www.helloflynn.com/ and uncovered new images, including the pic CB was referring to of Kevin's wife and son.

I found one more pic of one of the clues hanging on the wall of the End of Line Club. Here it is:

So, I'm missing pictures of two of the six clues.

I found one last photo.

I Had A Dream...

Sorry if this is waaaaay off topic, I wasn't sure where else to put it. Last night, I had a dream that Flynn's had come to a (non-existent) con in MD. It took place in a hotel and flynn's took over an entire hallway, except there were no videogames, just a display and door that led to EOLC. There were no people around and so I decided to go into the entrance to the EOLC, but it was pitch black. There was light switch outside the door and I flipped it. The whole laser sequence from the actual EOLC started and I walked inside, only to be stopped by Joe Kosinski. We spoke for a while then I had to leave. On my way out, I saw that there were boxes of swag (t-shirts and a tube of token with pouches, shweet!). I decided to grab a handful of tokens, but they all had these red, flashing lights on them and they were beeping. A Flynn Lives guy came running towards me and told me to put that stuff down. I shmoozed him over and started got a couple pouches of tokens and a FL t-shirt (there were different colors like green, white, brown). I chose a green one that said "Flynn Lives" and had a message under that, but I don't remember what that message was...
