Here are my pics from Flynn's Arcade

http://www.flickr.com/photos/31774061@N02/sets/72157624588258818/

Visitors to San Diego during SDCC 2010 (San Diego Comic Con 2010, as if you didn't know, silly!) were treated to the immersive experience of Flynn's Arcade.

Located offsite in the Gas Lamp District, Flynn's Arcade was part of Disney's marketing campaign for it's upcoming movie, Tron Legacy.

Note, there were TWO different experiences; one for visitors who participated in the ARG and the other for the general public. Below is a description of what the general public experienced, but the photos I'm sharing is a mash up of both experiences.

Visitors started their journey into the digital world with a visit to Flynn's Arcade, a fully built out 80s arcade, complete with classic coin-ops as Space Invaders, Marble Madness, Track and Field, Galaga, Asteroids, Pac Man and Kevin Flynn's most popular game, Space Paranoids!

After 20 minutes of free play, visitors were taken through a secret passage behind a Space Paranoids machine. Through the dark, they uncovered a room that Kevin Flynn used to create the grid. On one side of the room is Kevin Flynn's dusty terminal, which has been counting up for 20 years. On the other side is what looks like a laser.

After a minute or so of standing in the small dark room, the laser activated and visitors were transported into the digital world! Doors were swung open and visitors walked through a tunnel with swirling light. As they turned the corner of they entered a light and music filled club, the End of Line Club.

Yeah, the mini-identity disc is my favorite Flynn Lives swag so far. I had to try three times to get it, but it was worth it!

The Identity Disc is such a great prize to give out for the scavenger hunt. I'm really liking the End of the Line Club posters too - haven't seen many of those go up on eBay yet.

I finally got around to loading the video I took @ the End of Line Club. It includes the Tron multimedia that was playing on the giant screen behind the bar.

While you had to be their for the full experience (synchronized lighting, stereo sound and thumping bass), you get to at least a taste of the End of Line Club.

NOTE: it begins sideways, but I quickly turn the camera the right way.

I was stuck in panels at Comic-Con while I saw the messages coming in. It was killing me... so around 4:30, I started wandering downtown. Head to Flynn's Arcade, and asked the security people if they were still doing the drops for passes that night... they said they can only say to follow the twitter stream. Wouldn't you know it, right then a call came in... and the drop is about three blocks away. So I start running there... only to realize that I'm freakishly out of shape. I stagger up to the site, there are already a dozen or so people milling around. Get the pic after a few false starts, then lurch to the drop zone, my legs cramping up and my lungs refusing to accept air... but I'm about the twentieth person, so I get the disc!

Then I nearly pass out.

LOL! I realized how out of shape I was as well. Plus, I was wearing sandals and had a backpack on. I really didn't plan ahead.

I love the disc. I've watched the hi-def trailer over a dozen times.

I just have to plug my cycling here. I was able to run the 5 blocks faster than anyone and get there 2nd for the 2nd drop. Granted, I was eating lunch next to Flynn's, so I only had to go from 6th & J to 6th and F, but it was still not easy with a full backpack.

Just hop on the bike and pretend you're on a light cycle, that's what I do. Smile

Here is something you won't see on other sites (at least I don't think so).....an unobscured video of the Tron multimedia clip that was playing on the wall of the End of Line Club, without the walls of the bar and the top of peoples heads.

Oh, just ignore what that person in the background is saying at the end of the video.
