Nice idea. Noticed yesterday that one of SemperF8's followers (Blade1_1) did exactly that on Aug. 7th so here's hoping he gets SemperF8's attention. Also, have been RTing SH's tweets for other Argers to see and join the fun.

[META] lack of players

I realized I'm really not comfortable talking about promotion or lack of it, or comparing it to other ARGs I have played in the game thread itself. I'm not sure how to get more players. If anyone is interested in continuing this part of the conversation--which I am really not--I suggest it might be best to start a thread in the META section of unfiction.

I don't know, because I'm not involved in decisions to promote games, but I am pretty sure the lack of interest in this game dooms it from getting its own subforum - there really isn't a need for it. When I thought the game would be picking up more players, I did request a subforum from the admins as some people had asked earlier in this thread.

But this is fine, there is no reason we can't use N&R.

Well, you never know when a late joiner and lurker will crop up with a stunning observation that solves all the outstanding puzzles. Sadly, I fit most but not all of that description. The only observation I bring to the table is that the "onomatopoeic" solve for the tweet doesn't quite work - it's krjhojkmknip. Not that I think this makes any difference, it seems to just be a pointer to the alphabet uasge in the profile pic's name rather than a puzzle in and of itself.

What do you mean by this? I mean, I understand what you're saying about how it doesn't quite work out to be "onomatopoeic" because of the "J" being used where a "K" should be. I don't know what you mean thereafter, though...are you saying you think this was just a mistake and that we found the clue anyway, or do you mean you think there's something more to it?

Because at this point, all bets are off. There well could be.

Sorry, tying my own tongue in knots. My guess is that onomatopoeic is nothing to do with it, and I would go further and make a bigger guess that the only meaning behind the letters is to point to the vaguely similar codetalkers way of defining an alphabet. But as you say anything goes right now, hence throwing it open to everyone else.

Excuse me while I go and stare at scrolling, pulsing morse code some more.

We're having the same discussion over on Serial Huntress' forums.

Personally, I don't think the letters translate to Onomatopoeic. There's just too many things that look wrong with it. (ie: "j" would have to equal "o" in one place, and "t" in another. "i" would substitute for itself.) Plus the substitution alphabet used to translate that is pretty random. I can't imagine that the PM's expected us to just guess that (with some letters subbing, some not, and a misspelling) without any sort of key. It just doesn't feel like a solid solve to me.

That said, even if they DO translate to Onomatopoeic, I don't think that has anything to do with the Navajo Code Talkers Translation. The navajo code talkers used Navajo words as letters. They're not onomatopoeic - the Navajo words don't sound like the letters they represent. They were just paired up using pre-existing Navajo words.

Onomatopoeic words are words that represent a sound like "bang" or "meow"

I just don't see the two relating.

Just my 2 cents - not saying I'm right and that anyone else is wrong. I totally think ALL avenues are still as valid as any and worth exploring.

We also have "I am the key" on SemperF8's profile that might mean something. maybe the letters don't translate and they are a key or password to something else?

Lastly, I also noticed that the letters (KRJHOJKMKNIP) are all lumped together in the alphabet. It's pretty much all of the letters H-R except "L" and "Q" - and nothing outside of that range. I find it odd that they are so lumped together...

New briefing video is up. Also, Showtime is finally telling everybody there is a Dexter ARG on Facebook, though you'd have to know what ARG stands and dig further to get into it.

Fine for me. Would be cool to go down that storyline with Dee not knowing exactly what happened and we figure it out.

This is what I have so far, there's the infinity sign is on a bullet casing. We are looking for the brother of the victim, who's homeless in and out of housing centers. Police can't find him, neighbor of Colonel mentions Rebecca Gladow.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
So searching Rebecca Gladow on Facebook you get:
http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100001393789929&ref=search

She was mentioned in the third video as a person of interest. I can't make out what it says on her shirt. New Promise Harrier? New Promise Barber? New Promise Hanbor?

damn, nothing comes up! I'm stumped.

EDIT: removed part of the spoiler

If we're following the substitution cipher idea, it could be a case of substitution + jumbling of letters... Given that the red-highlighted word in morse code is DYNAMITE (---> interesting to note that Dynamite consists of 8 letters - furthering the other "rel8ed" clues hehe), this could be the word used for the substitution, giving us the following codex:

ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ
DYNAMITEBCFGHJKLOPQRSUVWXZ

...which then gives us the letters of:
KRJ HOJKMK NIP
OTN MQNOEO CFR

Regarding the letters, it seems odd that they are formatted like this:
KiloRomeoJuliet HotelOscarJulietKiloMikeKilo NovemberIndiaPapa

So this could mean unscramble the letters to get three words? Honestly though, the 'Q' I get throws me off any meaningful unjumbling Sad

Honestly, first thing I thought of was a Haiku - maybe the letters are all acronyms for a saying (well known or not) in Haiku format...

KRJ
HOJKMK
NIP

Well, here's your answer:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
http://www.newpromiseharbor.com

When you call the number, they tell you to call between 4 and 6 CST and someone will pick up. Unfortunately we only discovered this at something like 5:55 CST and nobody was able to reach a person, so uhhh, no one answered.

Ahhh, I didn't catch it. I think like three of us figured out what it said at the same time and amandel found the website.

This reminds me, from now on, I am going to just start typing it in as a URL whenever I find a clue, because that's the second time this week it has been an obvious URL when I spent way too long googling it.
