18007082151 Ok, I did post this under hooklineandminker.com but I felt, after messing around with the voicemail, it needed it's own thread. If you call the Evelyn Minker Memorial phoneline, the man on the other line says it is no longer accepting donation and please contact Josh, blah blah blah. BUT it is not a automated phone number but a voicemail. You can record a message, review, rerecord, "append," cancel, or send. Like any other voicemail, however, you can press *star and enter a password. So the race is on: What is the voicmail password and what will we find?
I've tried a few obvious ones. Using the alphabet keys, I've entered:
Coelecanth (2635322684)
Josh (5674)
Minker (646537)
hlm1963 (4561963)
1963
Mom (666)
Evelyn
Hook
Line
Hookline
STIES (78437)
I'm going to look at the CL ads for the dress and sled since that hasn't led us anywhere.

how about golden ratio ????
[I'm not in US, so i cannot call the number]
Edit 1: you can call the number from skype without credits
Just dial +118007082151
Edit 2: Golden ratio didn't work.

Interesting. FYI, the fibonacci sequence (112358) also doesn't work.
Thought - Is there any way of turning on the audio on the skype dialpad without having to call, or is there an identically toned one online to play with. Maybe if we match the notes to numbers it might work so for example 4 6 4 9 1 2 2 # (doesn't work, but gets the example across)

I don't think it is a good idea. This much like hacking into an FTP server. If you get the right password, all you would gain, is the ability to change the recorded message and ruin the game...

leaving a voicemail Technically, Josh's message is referred to as a "Greeting" that may be changed when needed on a voicemail account. This is very common for voicemail - especially for large accounts (like at a corporation or even a non-profit). The Evelyn Minker Fund could have been huge, or it could have been just to pay for her memorial services.
I agree with smartmart - accessing the password is not part of the game - but used to check messages and to change that greeting to give us clues.
I'd be more concerned with pressing 1 to leave a message. ^_^

But why have it as a voicemail? Wouldn't they just set it up as a prerecorded message? And why hide it? You don't even get the option to leave a message unless you press a button. It could be possible that once the password has been entered only one or two messages are played.
Regardless, I left a message. Maybe it'll be Rocket Poppeteers style and I'll get a phone call =D
Last night I tried
11:36:24
11:36
Nothing.

They may have plans for it later, i'm sure. Point is, we are supposed to contact Josh to find out what "other" charities Evelyn was interested in. I think that's where this clue leads us.

I think we could have some fun leaving funny voicemails to the guys operating the ARG....I least have the cracking up.
Like have a female call as if she is a girlfriend and how sad she is for him, but ask why he has to stand her up for a date to look for an f-ing fish hahaha

Use Caution..... While I believe this site is in game I would still advise caution. There is always the possibility that this is an actual person who died. Until I was 100% sure of the sites validity I wouldn't do anything that could cause a person further grief or hardship. Think of someone finding your phone number through an ARG and leaving you what they thought were "funny" messages. Just, Please, be responsible.

The phone number was on the paper in the Craigslist ad. It's definitely IG.

I agree it probably 100% is. To me, something just doesn't feel right.
