yes, I remember that part. That was so cool. you felt like you were riding along side the light cycles.

how cool would it be if the viral lead to the opening of a new ride or something like that. but im sure we would have heard of one being built or something like that.

It would make sense for disney to do a Tron ride. Espically if what I have heard about them wanting to make 2 more movies after this one.

Back in82 Disney had intended to put in Tron in an upstairs section of Innoventions, sadly the project fell through due to some not-to-bright higher ups.

they are working on something from Tron for the parks...... like i said in this post on page 3. just sayin.....

I'm guessing you're talking about one of the buildings where Innoventions
currently resides since Innoventions didn't exist back then. Me just being nitpicky Smile

I serously doubt this will involve the ARG in any way and as of yet there has been no mention of any type of TRON themed "ride". I wouldn't hold my breath for a ride unless all three movies are released and do extremely well and probably not even then. I'm thinking at best, maybe a show of some type. Hey, maybe they'll do another TRON on ice!!!! - mattw3

Innoventions would have been "America Sings" at that time.
Here's a post on the D23 forums from someone who supposedly saw the actual plans in February 1982:

Right. NWinTN was talking about EPCOT's Innoventions which I think opened around '94. Disneyland's Innoventions didn't open until '98.

As for plans, I'm sure there are hundreds on hundreds of plans that don't go any farther. Years ago, there was an official announcement by the presedent of the resort that California Adventure was going to get Rockin' Rollercoaster... that was the last that was heard about it.

How about, after Captain EO is retired again, we have a 4D Tron show? Very Happy

As for EPCOT Center, before it was Innoventions, it was CommuniCore.

I first visited EPCOT when it hadn't been opened for more than 30 days, and I believe it hadn't been attended by more than 100k people, maybe considerably less by that point. It opened in the fall, which didn't help its attendance numbers at opening. Since it opened, it has always been my favorite Disney park.

ETA: Oh, and the entry sequence into the computer world was used as a part of another ride, but I can't recall exactly which it was. I'm pretty sure it was in the Magic Kingdom though.

In the Preview section of CommuniCore for a number of years there was a mention that the Tron Arcade would be coming soon to Epcot. I got so excited, never happened.

Closest we ever got was the sponsored Sega arcade.

Thank you Euchre! Part of Communicore is where the Tron stuff was supposed to be. Oh, and to the guest, I never said it would be a ride, I said it's undetermined right now what they'll be putting in. I did send a tweet about needing a Lightcycle ride though. I'll have to go back and listen to the podcast about the original Tron and theme park ties. I keep going back and forth about joining D23, one of my friends got an EPCOT Center badge thing with their recent copy of the D23 magazine.

Tron in Disney parks
Tron has been in Disney park

I grew up in Florida and Tron has always been one of my favorite movies. I spent quite a bit of time playing with both. Disney has had a Tron ride before, in a manner.

One of the Tomorrowland attractions (where Buzz Lightyear: Spaceranger Spin is now) had a variety of names - from If you had wings to Delta Dreamflight. All of it was about the wonder of passenger air travel. In the final iteration mentioned here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Delta_Dreamflight - Dreamflight - the room was 3-D projected with 'Computer generated imagery. It was the 25 seconds of Flynn being digitized and pulled onto the grid from the original film. They didn't treat it at all.

So, maybe the imagineers could just dust that off and call it a tron ride Wink

This might be a dumb question, but how do you know if an ARG is done by 42E or not?
I didn't see any mention of 42E on the Flynn Lives site, and no mention of FL on the 42E site. The only reason I know that they're doing this one is because the players mentioned it in these forums.

The reson I'm asking is because I want to make sure I get in an all further 42E games right from the start.

I signed up to their site back in Feb. hopefully that should be enough to get in from the get go, but I just want to be that at no point will I find myself on the outside looking in.

One of the major (and highly probable) rumors about a Tron-style attraction in a Disney Park points to something sooner rather than later.

At Disney California Adventure, Disney's Wonderful World of Color has debuted to spectacular crowds. To accommodate all of those who wish to see it, the park has set up "Glow Fest," a nighttime party in the Hollywood Pictures Backlot section of the park. It runs through August 22.

At this time, the entertainment at Glow Fest is being handled and performed by people outside of Disney, likely because no one thought Glow Fest would be the success that it is.

After August 22, the rumor is that Disney's Entertainment division is going to step in and have the Glow Fest themed to Tron: Legacy. Rumors also point to an End of Line club being built in a soundstage that formerly held Who Wants to Be a Millionaire: Play It!.

From Miceage (http://miceage.micechat.com/allutz/al080310a.htm)

Quote:
The new version of this nighttime street party, to be designed and staffed entirely in-house by the Entertainment Department, currently has the working title "ElecTRONica". The theme will play up the new TRON movie to be released this Christmas, and some of the same folks from the Studios who pulled off some of the TRON marketing stunts at recent ComicCon events down in San Diego have been consulted for the DCA version. Several elements of the popular Glow Fest will be re-used, like the street team dancers, the go-go girls, and the very successful cocktail bars set up in the middle of the street. ElecTRONica will also use the old Millionaire building in the back of the Hollywood section, to house a TRON themed video arcade. Disneyland's Entertainment Department is working feverishly on this one, as they want to ensure that their version of this street party is more successful than the outside contractor's version was, if only to convince the TDA executives to never again use an outside group to provide in-park entertainment. (And those divas have been busy online too, making sure everyone knows what they're doing.)

If this is successful (and if it actually happens), I'm almost certain that more Tron attractions will be appearing in the Tomorrowlands or in Epcot.

There's no definitive way to tell really - they don't label their work just for the sake of attention. However, there are signs that point to 42E until it's confirmed in some manner. They tend to have a common visual style, coding methodologies, gameplay mechanic... there may be hints before a campaign begins (for Tron their general sign up page on the site looked very Tron-like, for example), but my clincher is if there are live events then you'll tend to see 42E staff lurking around in the background. If you know them, you may be able to spot them =)

There are many many things that point to 42E in their campaigns, these days so much that it can be all but officially confirmed even near a major campaign's launch. Some people have presumed incorrectly though. But (I believe) it's still a point of theirs to make sure the IP gets the attention first, not the 42E name.
