Trailhead? It starts with the flu
What is this?

http://www.itstartswiththeflu.com/

I found a link to that website on another site. It has a count down for 9-08-10, and hidden text that when highlighted says Daniel 12; 1-13.

I'm just wondering if anyone can tell me what it is?

Got lots of info from a whois lookup:

And from my bible search, this is what the passage from Daniel says:

Daniel 12

The End Times

1 "At that time Michael, the great prince who protects your people, will arise. There will be a time of distress such as has not happened from the beginning of nations until then. But at that time your people—everyone whose name is found written in the book—will be delivered.

2 Multitudes who sleep in the dust of the earth will awake: some to everlasting life, others to shame and everlasting contempt.

3 Those who are wise [a] will shine like the brightness of the heavens, and those who lead many to righteousness, like the stars for ever and ever.

4 But you, Daniel, close up and seal the words of the scroll until the time of the end. Many will go here and there to increase knowledge."

5 Then I, Daniel, looked, and there before me stood two others, one on this bank of the river and one on the opposite bank.

6 One of them said to the man clothed in linen, who was above the waters of the river, "How long will it be before these astonishing things are fulfilled?"

7 The man clothed in linen, who was above the waters of the river, lifted his right hand and his left hand toward heaven, and I heard him swear by him who lives forever, saying, "It will be for a time, times and half a time. [b] When the power of the holy people has been finally broken, all these things will be completed."

8 I heard, but I did not understand. So I asked, "My lord, what will the outcome of all this be?"

9 He replied, "Go your way, Daniel, because the words are closed up and sealed until the time of the end.

10 Many will be purified, made spotless and refined, but the wicked will continue to be wicked. None of the wicked will understand, but those who are wise will understand.

11 "From the time that the daily sacrifice is abolished and the abomination that causes desolation is set up, there will be 1,290 days.

12 Blessed is the one who waits for and reaches the end of the 1,335 days.

13 "As for you, go your way till the end. You will rest, and then at the end of the days you will rise to receive your allotted inheritance."

Well, that's all the relevant stuff. Any thoughts? Sounds like some sort of weird Christian prophecy thing. If this guy is serious, I really wish people would stop this kind of thing. It makes all of us Christians look bad. Rolling Eyes

Yeah, I know, but I'm leaning toward ARG/viral hopefully, because I wouldn't know why one that was serious about trying to persuade people about the coming of the end times would hide the verse they are quoting in hidden text... seems counterproductive

EDIT:

speaking of zombies, someone mentioned on another site( http://caution-invaders-unexpectedproblems.blogspot.com/2009/04/new-arg.html ) that the World War Z movie comes out in 2010...maybe this is a start of viral for that, the book was great so I hope so.

Hmm... interesting hypothesis. Yeah, I hope it's a viral for something like that as well, 'cause if this guy is serious, I'm afraid he'll be dissapointed next year when Jesus doesn't show up at his front door. Wink

Whatever it may be, playing on the current flu situation is VERY bad form... I'm sure the people that may potentially die from it will appreciate it.

I know, I was going to say something about that, but forgot to. This guy really doesn't have a whole lotta tact, does he?

I don't think that's a fair call, considering we do not yet know what this is about. Maybe it's to draw attention to the new flu virus strain and educate people (which I doubt BTW). But nevertheless, it's a little too early to call foul.

Anyway, I think the whole swine flu thing is a little blown out of proportion considering the number of people that die from the normal strain of influenza every year. (around 36,000 according to the CDC)

Well, actually, I didn't notice the date (created March 1st, before recent events).

So, if anything, it's REALLY bad luck and bad timing on their part....

Never mind. Moving on.

Yes. I'm so glad that "fear" has been replaced with "hope" and "change".

are we really going to start tracking stuff more than a year in advance of a clearly stated time ?

I'm all for virus stories and zombies, but... is there any need to start a pre-game countdown ~500 days in advance ?! 0.o

They're giving us this much time so we can get our entirely irrelevant picture posts to hundreds of hundreds of pages. Trying to move in on OFL's schtick Wink

I'm betting this is the opening salvo in a promo for a movie version of Stephen King's "The Stand", of which there are rumours, Superflu and oldschool religion, it just has to be.
