Ok guys, here's the low down. The actual city of Lillian doesn't exist. It's named after jj Abrams mother or something. The actual map of the area they show is Dayton, oh which is actually in Montgomery county. I know because it's where I grew up. They mention Brookville which is actually a town outside Dayton and it is on the map they show. The rest is all fictional, and the movie was actually filmed in WV

Is Dayton- Miamisburg Ohio really Lilian Ohio from Super 8?

Ok I grew up in the Dayton area, and there was a train derailment in Miamsburg in the summer of 1986. It did cause the evacuation of thousands of people. Of course WPAFB is very secretive and I have heard claims of little green men for years. Even the local news anchor Carl Day of Channel 2 claimed they were there. Dayton and Miamisburg, the Mound, that is there have had lots of rumors floating around for years. Could there be aliens in the 20 + stories of the underground base at WPAFB? We will probably never know for sure.
