There's handwriting around the map too if you look closely.

It looks like one "incident" took place right by my aunt and uncle's house. Right around west Vandalia. I also lived there for about a year. Pretty cool to think a movie will be set around a place I used to live in. I have also been to WPAFB many times, definitely some things going on in there that they aren't telling us.

vandalia and my hometown are sister cities. a few years ago i met some visitors from vandalia in a local pub. it was a lot of fun but they couldn`t handle our beer =)

Indeed!

I know this is not helpful at all but, I saw the trailer today and I could see my town of Dayton, Ohio on the map that the Sheriff was holding. I live right next to WPAFB (Wright-Patt Air Force Base). I can literally look out of my door and see the whole base. I think it is so interesting that a movie is taking place right in my backyard!! Figuratively speaking, of course. But, I noticed that Lillian, Ohio is about 20 miles from Dayton in the trailer.

I grew up on Circle Drive in Fairborn and could also see the base from my house. It is cool seeing this taking place so close to home.

Most of the dates I see is June.. of course.. 22 or 23 1979...Missing dates I am assuming?

Also, what intrigues me the most is it appears as if there are large dots, medium and small.

Whats does that mean?

I think they are just the locations the missing dogs were found as indicated in the trailer. I think if they made the dots all the same size they wouldn't stand out from the other printed dots on the map.

looks like J.J. Abrams has other maps than google! =) but won`t be the first time google is wrong =), or maybe back in 1979 there was a town named lillian and it was vanished by "it"

looks like the incidents concentrate around a greater area around lillian

What is even more interesting is that the ARG events take place near Fergus Falls, which is in entirely different location...
or maybe i'm wrong...

In relation to the hand writing..

They look to be dates.

Can sort of make out 6/12/79

Yes, they are dogs names and dates showing when and where they were found. So I assume anyway Smile

That's very compelling as it seems the dogs were running away from Lillian based on the map. Considering the comment on the trailer about seeing "it", I'm starting to wonder if the poster earlier was correct that something is making a noise only the dogs can hear or see.

Looks like all the incidents happen on the same day 6/22/79

I can see Lucy Lamb missing/found just outside Brookville. Lovely Hi-res image here:

I agree with everything with the exception of "when" they were found. The distance varies on the missing dogs, and they all seem to have the same date wrote down next to names.

I think what the date represents is when the dogs went missing, IMHO.

Agreed, all the dogs would unlikely be found on the same day, more likely it's the date they went missing. I think more importantly, it gives us a time frame for the movie - 3rd week of June, 1979.
