Yeah Xeno,

this question is torturing me all the time - RP site is actually not really examined by us. I mean, sure, we know all the textes in the CesnAtron, but the switches are imho not really good analyzed. Well, perhaps there's nothing behind them, beside of those cool sound effects, but - who knows?

Re-reviewing the craigslist funeral notice

I've been going back over some of the things that we've discussed to death, but must confess that while I looked at the funeral/memorial notice in the background of the craigslist postings, I didn't pay that much attention to smaller details that at the time seemed inconsequential, but in reviewing the funeral/memorial notice (as to what is printed on it) what Super 8 wiki bruce, and Multi's Game Summary (which has been revised and is even easier to follow—good work, mate!) contain essentially the same thing:

??????
April 16th 2010
??????the Afternoon
??????ony Reprieve

If attending graveside ceremony
Please Follow with Lights and Flashers on

If you wish to contribute to the Minker Memorial fund
More details can be found at

1-800-7082151

But take a closer look at the partial word before "Reprieve." It is stated as being "??????ony." I don't know if it matters a great deal, but it does not look to me like an "o" before the "ny Reprieve." Magnify the view of the links below that contain the funeral/memorial notice, and look at the "o"s in "Afternoon" and compare them with the partial letter before the "ny."

I overlaid a thin sheet of paper over the expanded view to try and get a feel for how the words below "Afternoon" might be centered, and where (if it is one word or more) it might begin to the left of center on the notice. If it is one word before "Reprieve" (which contains 8 letters), and the first letter is larger and more stylized (as the "R" is in "Reprieve"), it looks like it could be a word also possessing 8 letters. I don't know what the word is, and what, if any, significance either, or both words might mean, but I came up with the word "Epiphany."

Perhaps some of you who are good with Photo Shop can figure out what the word(s) might be. The links for the pics are below:

Looks like "cny" to me rather than "ony" but I looked up words ending with "cny" and apparently there are none. I guess it could possibly be "eny" but it definitely doesn't look like an O to me. So according to www.morewords.com it leaves us with these possibilities:

astheny
autogeny
biogeny
cryogeny
cytogeny
deny
embryogeny
endogeny
epeirogeny
greeny
hegumeny
heterogeny
homogeny
isogeny
larceny
lineny
lysogeny
monogeny
neoteny
ontogeny
oogeny
orogeny
phylogeny
polyteny
progeny
redeny
sheeny
spleeny
sweeny
teeny
tweeny
weeny
xenogeny

Dunno if anyone can put anything together from that, that might make sense? Other than that I don't know,

New Theory

I was just looking over the chat transcript in STIES and something popped in my mind. Feel free to trout if this sounds stupid. What if Josh's father was abducted back in 1979 and is being held captive by aliens. Laughing Sounds dumb right, well here's some of my logic.

1. Could explain why Josh never new his father and why his mother never mentioned anything to him about what happened.

2. From this statement i think his father is still alive: <dialog>he needs your help</dialog>. If Josh's email is his birth year, making him in his late 40's. His mother had just passed away, not sure if i remember if her cause of death was ever disclosed, but if not sickness most likely old age. That is reason to believe his father would be up in age as well. Given men usually die at a younger age then women, i would think he would have passed on by now. Being abducted could account for this time lapse with out the aging.

3. Mysterio could possibly be someone that knows about this or even a rogue alien trying to help the human, E.T came home Smile. This could explain some of the emotionless responses and the calculated way Mysterio goes about things.

4. Could be "sequel" to Close Encounters of the Third Kind: Close Encounters of the Fourth Kind. Seems like something Spielberg would want to be a part of.

I'm sure this lag in the game is just making my imagination run wild. Trout away. Smile

DUD rock;

Welcome, and thanks for your input. I don't see the "o" their and I've tried different configurations, with no success yet, but if the line that contains that phrase ???ny Reprieve is centered (which I would think it would be) it would almost seem like there should be 8 spaces (including the "ny")

Whether it is one other word or two, I can't see what would fit with "Reprieve," but it may be a clue that we're missing that may fit now, or later.

I'm not sure if I follow you, if Josh's father was abducted in '79 they Josh would be in his teens when it happened (assuming email's correct). It would not explain why Josh never knew him.

God I hope not, it would be awful. Think of what would happen to CE3K if you added battles, it just would not work.

This got me thinking, some of the stuff we've been told about the film and what we've got from the ARG doesn't fit together

1) the film's about a group of teens who catch a alien of film (super 8 ) in 1979. Most filming so far has taken place in 70's sets.
2)The main character of the ARG (Josh) has the same name as a character of the audition list (I think that's what it's from)
3) If Josh's email references his birthday the he's in his 40's and would have been in his teens during the films time period
4) from his chat with mysterio he does not seem to recognise whatever's on the film
5) he was told by mysterio that the film is related to his father, not him.
6) to have not known his father he must have disappeared during the mid 60's
7) if the film's related to his father but was in his mother's possession then it would have had to have been shot before or slightly after for her to have it but for Josh to have never known him.

Can anyone see how this stuff fits together, or possibly could fit? Right now it makes less sense to me the more I think about it. Confused

Here's an elaborate web of connections based on the craigslist photos and some info from HLM, which has me questioning whether Josh Minker could be hanging out in Jamaica, leaving clues for someone to find him through the CL pics (which Mysterio has) and maybe even looking for a coelacanth. Each of these Josh/Jamaica connections seems to have an association with being rare, extinct, remote or in some way endangered.

MONKEY PIN ON HAT
Jamaican monkey - now extinct.

HORSE CLOCK
Famous horse named Jamaica who won the USEF Horse of the Year (you could say he was given a reprieve).

CACTUS COOKIE JAR
Cactus Nightclub once hottest nightclub in Jamaica - now closed.
http://www.jamaica-star.com/thestar/20051014/ent/ent5.html

SWAN
Swan River, Manchester, Jamaica (If you zoom in on the satellite map, you can see this is a remote little river or stream in central Jamaica. )

VINTAGE BOBSLED
Jamaican Bobsled Team (It's definitely rare to have a bobsled team in the Jamaican climate. Also there is a member named Clive, which is one of the coworker names Josh mentioned on HLM. This is a real person though so…)

DRESS
When looking closely at the second picture of the dress, I notice a green blob that (to me) looks like a rudimentary map of Jamaica.

Jamaica Map from wikimedia.org/wikipedia

One more thing…
??COELACANTH IN JAMAICA??
When searching for Coelacanth and Jamaica I came across this site. At the bottom of the page there's a hint at an unconfirmed coelacanth sighting in Jamaica.
