Hey all, it's the PM here popping in quickly to say that I've started a meta blog at:

http://blog.iwascharlottebronte.com

I am happy to answer questions and discuss IWCB meta issues over there.

And you're right, the game is NOT over.

I'm popping out now, and won't be posting here again.

If they ask for your address, you have to assume that they'll use whatever name you put as the recipient.

So, unless you can receive mail under the name "Leelzebub" without thoroughly confusing your mailman or concerning your parents, I'd suggest your real name. Wink

Bad news, ARGers... IWasCharlotteBronte.com is no longer a registered domain, same as http://blog.iwascharlottebronte.com

Looks like it is still registered to me:
Registrar: GODADDY.COM, INC.
Dates:
Created 03-oct-2010
Updated 23-dec-2010
Expires 03-oct-2011

but you are correct that it lands on a parked website, rather that the content you'd expect. Perhaps someone neglected to pay their monthly hosting bill?

oooh, good to know the difference. I hope the PM simply forgot to pay. S/he said it would start in January and I'm looking forward to it! Smile

I think we're back... All Charolette Bronte quotes...

It's a 'twin-lens reflex camera' with the name shopped out. Most distinguishing features are the bulls-eyes between the lenses and the three rivets around the non-logo'd top. Compare with the below. An f/1.4 lens would be a really fast lens for the time frame (I think...).

Have been rereading Lori Moore's Blog and surmise the camera represents her photo-journalist dad. Edward.

Glad we found out last time thru Alex, her step-dad, that he's still alive but he won't settle down as the PW. Smile

just quick,

noticed that the Istanbul 1.4 link seems to try to open /new_rome.html or that maybe the main page name, not 100% on my mobile atm. Constantinople or Byzantium was New Rome, and as I will always remember from that great song, Istanbul was Constantinople. TLR ( twin lens reflex ) was also an abbr used by some for the currency Turkish Lira... not sure if any of that serves any purpose or relevant, just sharing... Smile

ETA: and just to dig myself into a bigger hole, could link Jane Eyre to Constantinople with the character St John Rivers and St John Chrysostom (bishop of Constantinople) but even I think that may be a leap too far Smile

Tex...

Followed here as well, so there's no doubt it's a game. Real people don't follow me! Wink

This is the game I thought of first.

---

To reiterate what PC Tex said above... From wikipedia...

Quote:
"Nova Roma" is traditionally reported to be the Latin name given by emperor Constantine the Great to the new imperial capital he founded in 324 at the city on the European coast of the Bosporus strait, known as Byzantium until then and as Kōnstantinoúpolis (Constantinople) since then, until it was renamed Istanbul in modern times. The first appearance of the term 'New Rome' in connection to Constantinople in any kind of document was at the First Council of Constantinople (381), in the context of deciding that the relatively youthful church of Constantinople should have precedence over Alexandria and Antioch 'because it is the New Rome'. Even after this, this name was not used in official proclamations by the civil authority, as opposed to the Christian church.
