Ifsogirl81, being the all-time typo princess I just copy/pasted and it opens the next page. OK?

ETA: And, LOLZ, when we first got the blog info from O Waly (who seems to have vanished from twitter) tried "byzantiumandconstantinople" but like a good girl always used caps cuz Wiki uses caps.

So now we have three new pictures. One of a photofilm, one of Bosphorus bridge in istanbul and one of viewfinder of what perhaps is a rolleiflex.

Additionally google tells me there's an aerodrome in USA called Lindsbergh's landing.Could that be relevant?

HI pancito! Waiting for the other shoe to drop as it's linked there for a lil bit. Maybe we're meant to deduce the next page? Dunno

New blog post

Quote:
I have spent the last two weeks paralyzed with fear. Chester received a communication from his "organization" and believes he should contact someone there whom he trusts. I begged him to run away with me, go even deeper into hiding than we are now, where nobody will ever find us.

I showed him the piece of paper dropped by the man I followed. C. chastised me for being so reckless, but after studying the paper for awhile he folded it and put it in his wallet. We haven't spoken of it since.

A man we know here in Istanbul is making up some papers for us, passports and such, different from the fake ones we already have. This will make it even harder for us to be traced and followed.

We leave tomorrow, to where I cannot say. The place we go next is not our final destination, but only a jumping off point.

the game's afoot

new post at iwascharlottebronte as well...

seems like we all just joined the dead writers' club?

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
To Whom It May Concern:

They are in danger. In order to protect them, we must find them. All we know is that they are headed west.

Regardless of what has come before, everything has changed. We must bring him in, and he will be difficult, if not impossible, to catch. He is smarter than all of us. He already knows we are on to him, which makes this all the more difficult.

There are two facets to our mission. Number one, we must earn her trust and draw her away from him. I'm in the process of finding out as much as a I can about her, which will not be an easy task. I will share what I know when I know it. We will watch and wait, and when the time is right, we will approach her. But it must be done carefully, because if he finds out, it won't work.

Number two, we must figure out a way to trap him. This has never been done successfully before, so don't think it will be easy.

He has protected his identity with many layers, and while it's not important to know his true identity in order to catch him, you may end up finding out who he is. If this happens, you must stay focused on the mission. His ethos is very strong, and he is beloved to many people, but never forget that the purpose of this mission is to keep him safe. He has very powerful and dangerous enemies.

There is a lot to do, and you will not be able to do it alone. I encourage you to draw in people you trust. Refer to this as The Dead Writers Club, as all of your clues will come from beyond the grave, so to speak.

Your gatekeeper for this mission will be the fortune teller. Not only can she communicate with the dead, but she has many tools at her disposal. Listen to her carefully.

find the fortune teller?

*eta - the picture on the iwcb website is a combination of "The Library of Alexandria" and "The Orient Express".

Yeah, I got it too. So Paris and Istanbul were the most well-known end points for the Orient Express. Other possible stops included below

Quote:
Though the current service only runs from Strasbourg to Vienna, it is possible to retrace the entire original Orient Express route with four trains: Paris–Strasbourg, Strasbourg–Vienna, Vienna–Belgrade and Belgrade-Istanbul, each of which operate daily. Other routes from Paris to Istanbul also exist, such as Paris–Munich–Budapest–Bucharest–Istanbul, or Paris–Zurich–Belgrade–Istanbul, all of which have comparable travel times of approximately 60 hours without delays.

<ETA>
Alexandria, Romania is pretty much due west of Istanbul, with some Black Sea in the way...

just some musings on what we have so far...

it looks like the clues in the IWCB page are all we need to get a solve; presumably the destination of our two mystery fugitives.

the email prompt suggests we are not getting anything more material for now.

we know Mr & Mrs C are heading west, from Istanbul.

the pic suggests alexandria and the orient express - which if we take it at face value suggests a trip up into romania. the modern day orient express does stop, en route from budapest to istanbul, at a place called sinaia in romania, though it isn't that close to alexandria. so that gives us two possible locations to consider.

if we take the pic clue less literally, and more literaturely Rolling Eyes then the pointer might also be to egypt? west-ish of istanbul, and connected through alexandria and the agatha christie link to the orient express. just a possibility, but as we have a book based ARG, does our need to collect more members for The Dead Writers Club mean that each clue on the journey will be linked to an ex-author?

egypt is always a good destination for mysterious spies as well Smile

my only problem now is who or where do we 'solve' this - we have no site to try answers and no more places for passwords to go as far as i am aware. one thought tho - who sent the email which you both received? is that our point of contact for sending solves?

It's sad, but the IWCB has been edited with this:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
I Was Charlotte Bronte is over (for now)

When I completed Part One last year I was excited to design and execute Part Two, because I learned a lot, not only from this game and its players, but from other ARGs I was playing.

I originally designed Part Two to stand alone as its own ARG. What you saw was really just my attempt to transition everyone to the "new" ARG. It was really just the tip of the iceberg and doesn't really give you a sense of what I had planned.

However, I didn't want to come right out and tell you to make a new discussion thread on the Unforums. I saw so many ARGs that had multiple parts, each time the players creating a new thread, which got new players involved. It's my fault for being so cryptic.

Because interest in Part Two and player interaction was so low (another reason I was hoping for a new thread), it was very difficult to move the game forward at the pace it needed to. Many of the players who signed up for Part Two weren't sharing information, or even speculating on the story or the characters, which I found frustrating.

I don't blame anybody but myself, but since I have failed so miserably to move the game in the direction I wanted it to go, I'm ending it for now.

Rest assured that Lori's father is still alive and well and out there somewhere. Our characters in Istanbul are still laying low and have yet to be discovered. There is much of this story that I want to tell, but it will have to happen at another time.

I plan to rework and rethink this ARG, and I have every intention of executing it again. However, it will be more of a "spin-off" than a sequel. I ask that if you make connections between future games and this game, that you don't revive the old IWCB thread. There are too many pages there and way too much information to get new players interested.

Meanwhile, I have some fun plans for this website (which is paid for up through at least April) and The Dead Writers Club that have nothing to do with the IWCB ARG. I invite you to check back if you're curious.

Thank you SO MUCH to everyone who has played recently and in the past. This has been a very rewarding experience. I am deeply impressed with everyone's commitment and I sincerely apologize for letting you down.

Sincerely,
The PM of IWCB

So I guess it's back to waiting then.
