Well the above couplet is from Abdul Alhazred's Necronomicon. This is about Cthulthu stuck beneath the sea dreaming the aeons away. I've played Behind the Yellow Curtain which was very Lovecraft themed. Maybe the next chapter though probably not.

He talks about Shadows in his both of his vids which is technically are made up of air so perhaps the Air elemental Hastur the Unspeakable has some connection to his shadows.

I'll send him an email and ask.

I saw your videos on YouTube today and had a couple of questions that I was wondering if you could answer. Did you make the other two videos? If not, who did or how did you get a hold of them? Also, is your "video blog" only on YouTube or do you have a dedicated blog somewhere on the internet where you will be typing things that you will not be showing via videos?
Thank you very much for your time.

P.S. Don't know how to delete the "1", so pay no attention to it.

Thanks for writing! It is so easy to post your thoughts on the internet these days, but you never know if anyone is actually there. Strange you should ask about the other two videos as I really have no idea. I created this youtube account to use for my blogs and I don't remember anything about them. This doesn't surprise me as much as it should I guess - there are still gaps in my memories, although less and less. And sometimes I remember things that they tell me didn't even happen, or at least things that I didn't see myself. I guess that's a story by itself - maybe I should explain that in my next blog post.

I'm not very computer savy right now, although I'm trying to learn. At the moment this blog is the only place I'm posting but I'm sure that will change as I learn more.

Thanks again for the email, I don't know anyone yet down here so it's always nice to connect with people.

best wishes

Zach

Who are "they"?

'sometimes I remember things that they tell me didn't even happen'

Not for nothing, but if I am remembering things and people are telling me that they didn't happen my first thought would be to find out why I am remembering them if they didn't happen. Not to say that I don't trust the people who are around you (you know them better then I would), but at this point I have no reason not to consider that they don't want you to remember the things that you are remembering so they are telling you that they are not true.

In order to find out if they are or not, I would start writing down some dreams that you are having. If your dreams have anything to do with the things that you believe you are remembering then there might some truth in your thoughts.

Also, and this is only if you find out that there is some truth behind what you believe has happened in your past, you might want to consider not telling anyone (or maybe figure out a way to tell people without it making sense to the people who are currently telling you that these things did not happen). The reason why I say this is because if the things that you are remembering are true, and there are some people out there who may or may not want that information shared, they might stop at nothing to ensure that no one else knows what you think you know.

It's almost midnight so I am sort of rambling on here (and not making much sense, btw), but I think you get what I am saying.

Good luck. Keep in touch. I'll keep looking out for some vids.

P.S. If you need any help figuring out if the things that you remember may or may not be true, there are a bunch of people who are probably already contacting you that are willing to help that you could tell your thoughts to

Quote:
Thank you so much! I can't even begin to tell you how much it means to me to have someone believe in me. I don't know, maybe they are right sometimes, maybe it is all in my head. But how could it be? But they are doctors, and doctors must know what is right and what is wrong, right? Not meant to be a joke there - but people aren't supposed to be able to see things that others can't see, so therefor I must be the one who is wrong? I mean, it's just not logical, is it?

Or was it all a dream? Maybe it was all just in my head? I just want to live a normal life. No one can really see the things I saw - or thought I saw at least. I want to put that all behind me and just try to be...me?

Quote:
I read that you moved to Arkansas and used to live in New York City? So, what was with the Los Angeles hat? And what doctors? Are they doctors that you go see on a regular basis or just occasionally?

And what do doctors know anyway? I mean, you go there with an illness and they give you drugs until the drugs no longer work, so then they send you to a specialist? I mean, seriously, you went to school for how long and still don't know what is wrong? Sometimes I just feel like the money spent on health insurance is being wasted. Good thing I don't get anything serious that could kill me in a week. I'd be screwed.

Anyway, long story short because I still need my morning coffee, I wouldn't allow what they tell you to hold much weight on your mind. They pretty much just spew out bullpoop until some of it finally sticks to the wall.

Quote:
Good points about doctors. They make mistakes too, and even if they don[t make a mistake what is the current fad maybe turn out not to be so hot. It wasn't so long ago that they gave people lobotomies (sp?) to help with even mild forms of mental illness. Oops...turns out not to be such a good treatment after all - ended up with a bunch of zombies. But there are times when you can't help yourself. Like you have a tumor that you need an operation to get rid of. Or you get a little lost and don't know what's real anymore. Then, unfortunately, you need to place your trust in someone else and hope for the best. I will say that the shrinks that treated me after I had been committed did seem to help me focus. I still am not so sure that the shadows weren't actually real, but they kept me from dealing with life and real or not I needed to be able to control them or at least suppress them somehow.

Ah - my hat. Not a big story there. I was in LA a while back and forgot to bring a hat. It was sunny, and I bought a hat that said LA because I was, after all, in LA. I don't actually like LA all that much - kind of a crazy place. But...a hat is a hat.

That is all. Keeping in contact but really can not do more then that because of college.

I posted this in my website too:

Quote:

There is a Lovecraft's tale with title The Shadow Out of Time, here. From wikipedia:

Quote:
tells of the Great Race of Yith, an extraterrestrial species with the ability to travel through space and time. The Yithians accomplish this by switching bodies with hosts from the intended spatial or temporal destination. The story implies that the effect when seen from the outside is similar to spiritual possession. It is never revealed what they really look like. Their cone-shaped bodies they used on earth belonged to a species from a parallel line of life that had evolved alongside with other forms on the planet

Quote:
Ultimately the Yithians use their ability to escape the destruction of their planet in another galaxy by switching bodies with a race of cone-shaped cephalopod beings who lived 250 million years ago on Earth. The cone-shaped entities (now also known as the Great Race of Yith) lived in their vast library city in what would later become Australia's Great Sandy Desert

Also, in the story, the protagonist (who has also memory gaps from when he is "abducted"), says that:

Quote:

In 1909 I spent a month in the Himalayas, and in 1911 roused much attention through a camel trip into the unknown deserts of Arabia. What happened on those journeys I have never been able to learn.

So in 1910 (there would be a 10.10.10 too) he was apparently lost in the dessert and he cannot remember what happened.

He continues:
Quote:

There is tangible proof - in the form of marginal notes - that I went minutely through such things as the Comte d'Erlette's Cultes des Goules, Ludvig Prinn's De Vermis Mysteriis, the Unaussprechlichen Kulten of von Junzt, the surviving fragments of the puzzling Book of Eibon, and the dreaded Necronomicon of the mad Arab Abdul Alhazred. Then, too, it is undeniable that a fresh and evil wave of underground cult activity set in about the time of my odd mutation.

The quote in the video appeared twice in Lovecraft's stories. First, in one of his earliest stories, The nameless city, and then later in Myths of Cthulhu, said by Abdul Alhazred, also called the Mad Arab or the monk, who is the writer of the Necronomicon. In The nameless city is about an ancient ruin buried in the desert and inhabited by a weird species of reptile. In the story, the narrator says that this city was the one the Mad Arab dreamt of when he said that quote. .

Ideas? I wonder if he suddenly falls into more and more amnesia gaps and we have to trace what has happened to him, in order to help him go out of that state.

EDIT: Btw, is there any way to zoom into those glasses to see if we can figure out what he is looking at? I assume it will be the webcam, but maybe there is something else there. I have tried but my software gives me only huge pixels.. Sad

Maybe we are here to help him remember so we can help fight the shadows. His comms so far seem all about the past, he hasn't specifically said his past apart from when he was committed.

In the Call of Cthulhu people of creative and artistic nature were affected, some wrote poetry that would drive most people mad or painted canvases that would send a grown man screaming. Typical Lovecraft really such a great writer of his time, shame he died so young.

I've had no reply as yet, his first vid blog had a tall building outside the window I thought he was in the countryside?!? The states must have a different countryside to the UK Wink

Was quite a cool reflection on his glasses which I might point out looked like 3D Specs not real perscription lenses. Perhaps we should ask him how blind he is or is he seeing his shadows through 3D glasses? Maybe there is way to see the shadows?

New vid is up. He went out and bought a bike. He mention places on his way back... do we have to guess where he lives?

EDIT: Little Rock has a base, but around the base and in the way to Little Rock there are too many Mexican restaurants. Not sure what to think. What's with the bike too? I am way confused. Anyone can zoom in the label he has got in the car? I haven't got any good software to do it, tried but can't see a thing. Sad

Hopefully this will pick up and not die...
Anybody consider the fact that an "umbra" is also a term used in describing eclipses/shadows? So "tempus umbra" might stand for "time of the beginning of the eclipse"?
I'm also keeping an eye on the New York references.

My first ARG (hopefully) BTW so... sorry if I make lame remarks. >.<

I know how you feel, it is going so slow that I am also wondering where it is going. But I guess it is only day 4, so you never know. Confused Welcome to the forums!

Sorry, double post for clarity and to let people know that something is new:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v47_iqmZmDA&playnext=1&videos=Mp9QiuswFsE&feature=mfu_in_order

New vid is up. This is the 6th. He goes to the forest and finds some kind of box made of concrete.

Noticed in previous vid that he mentioned a military base...wonder if that will become important at some stage.

Enjoying watching this thing unfold...the slowness is whetting my appetite nicely.

There's a 'light and shadow' thing emerging in the vids, too. Blogs 1, 3 & 4 feature a lot of light; blog 2 is almost entirely in darkness...he's even wearing black.

I noticed that too. He has worn black for all the vids but the last one.

Also, water and slime are main subjects in Lovecraft. I wonder if he is going to try to "see what is inside the concrete box" and that is how everything unfolds.

The main one I found with google is in Little Rock, I sent him another email asking about it, so I hope he replies soon. I want to start looking for things!!!! Lol

Any of you know of any program we could use to zoom in and magnify (with good quality):

a) The reflection on his glasses.
b) The sticker on his car
c) The bottom of the "concrete box"

My tools are so rudimentary (sniper tool and Photoshop) that all I get are big pixels Sad

EDIT: Received an email. I sent him a pic of a bike and asked him if that was his (it was the same model). His reply:

Quote:
Oh yes, that is it! Without the rack on the back, but I even have a water bottle in the same place. I like it - very sturdy but still light weight. Good on the street and good on trails. Not a real mountain bike, but good on paths. Thanks for the link - I'm going to post it on my blog.

I used to be an accountant. Please no jokes. We are not really as boring as people like to think. Look at me - I deal in facts and numbers and I ended up seeing things.

Interesting ideas about recording my dreams. I'm wondering if I should focus more on them, though, I'm trying to get myself more grounded and learn to push my "visions" out of my mind.

Yes, I'm actually not too far from Little Rock - how did you know? Not the closest town, but it's the local "big city" - even though just a small town by New York standards

So Little Rock, Arkansas.

Okay got a reply back

Quote:
Artistic? No - I wish! I enjoy other people's art, but have no real talent myself. I was an accountant back In New York.

Just a normal joe jumping at shadows. But then again a fair number of Lovecraft's characters started out as normal joes well maybe a little less normal.

Lovecraft's Collected Stories:

http://gutenberg.net.au/ebooks06/0600031h.html

Definitely saves me combing through my original copies.

Perhaps it is a hereditary thing, maybe we should be asking him about his parents.

Thanks much for the link to Lovecraft's stories--I was feeling a little bit out of the loop since I haven't read his works myself.

I'm sending him an email with a couple of questions just to see what happens. If I get anything interesting in response I'll be sure to let you guys know!

Also--I vaguely recall that some of the Lovecraft stuff had to do with numbers, right? Maybe? The fact that he was an accountant might come into play there. Seems pretty important to him since he keeps mentioning it.

New vid is up. He found an old installation, he will explore it tomorrow.

He mentions Bogart and two of his films (Casablanca, The African Queen).

There are warning signs around the perimeter of the place he found, one of them says something about restricted area and hazard something (I can't read it) Confused

EDIT: Do you think the titles are of any significance? Both Casablanca and The African Queen are based in Africa.
