making an attempt at creativity(Slenderman arg yay or nay?) Thinking of writing a Slendy story should I? Ok first off I'm a long time lurker of Unfiction but This is my first post.
I've been fascinated by Alternate reality fiction for some time but end up always being late to the party and have wanted to do something creative for some time after discovering the Slender mythos a few months ago (again I'm always the last one to learn) I was really inspired by the stories spawned from so humble an orgin (two pics on SA? really?).
Now at first it just gave me an awesome idea for a halloween costume but now as I look at what started out as a thrown together get-up but quickly became a two hundred dollar project (it looks nice) I find myself getting inspired again.
I would like to make a Slendy arg.
Now I know what your thinking there are so many these days and I couldn't agree more which is why I'm making this thread.
I don't want to do the same marble hornets/Hybrid/Tribes thing that's their thing. and I have my own ideas but I need to also make it engaging to the audience and at least somewhat believable.
Having never made an arg before or hell even a blog before I would appreciate any advice or criticism that may be helpful.
I know there is an embargo on self-advertising your stories here so I won't go into any intimate details about my ideas in anything but the vaguest of sense.
But if there are any questions I try my best.
Thanks I look forward to working with you guys.

a brief explanation of concept As I said in my previous post I'm well aware that despite the youth of the Slenderman mythos it has already found itself several constant tropes.
It seems that all slendy stories fall it to the marble hornets mold of "guy starts out unaware of slendy, comes to notice, starts investigating, gets in too deep, disappears" Now while that was all well and good it gets cliche.
Another is that all stories in the universe that I'm aware of have Slendy appearing constantly usually after the protagonist becomes aware.
This strikes me like if a lovecraft inspired story had cthulu appearing every ten pages. it takes the mystery out of the paranormal.
Knowing these cliches I wish to create something that although with connections to the shared Slendy universe is mostly different in tone and plot.
One thing I see fit to do is never make my characters aware of Slendy or at the very least only aware in a very academic source (timmy knows what a ghost is but he dosn't believe they exist).
Also Slendy shall not be the actual focus of the story.
As some stories have allready showed us there is more to the Slenderman mythos than just the faceless dandy basketball player.
Marble hornets had the masked man
Tribes Twelve showed us the "gruberman" legend and that slendy has preexisting history in the mythological world
EverymanHybrid has recently introduced the rake to its plot.
and Seeking Truth had that serial killer.
My aim is to expand upon the prexisting universe with Slendy as more of a thing that every event revolves around without being in the spotlight.
I also have some ideas of how to use multiple naratives.

What hasn't been done? what should be done What do the people want? I would like to use this thread to also catalog what people would like to see in a SL story preferably things that don't step on the toes of already established stories but ideas that you guys would like to be explored.
also any other help.
...for now I'm going to bed.

Oh is that a no-no?
I just wanted to avoid a wall of text (I believe I failed)
plus a lot of stuff only occurred to me later.

I would think it through, write it down, and then decide if I could make, show, or tell anything that hasn't already been done.

WOW I had a lucky break OK so if anyone is reading this I recently have been trying to work out a plot and how I would make it seem realistic and while doing several google searches I made some amazing discoveries many events and places that I would need to exist to make my story belivable not only actually exist and near the setting of the story but they lend themselves to many ironic or funny connections to the greater slenderman mythos making a lot less work for me its funny this thing is almost writing itself I could literally jump for joy right now.
not to be an attention whore but I would still apreiciate any imput or support
as I'm not sure what I'm generally allowed to say and not say about my project here I'll need direct questions in order to answer them and since I need constructive criticism I need to say something.

part of the problem is that I'm not quite sure whats already been done but so far I've seen nothing resembling my ideas.
what would you guys say is a good site place to host my story? (it's going to be blog at least for now) and what is a subtle way to clue people in to it being a slender story?
as for writing down I've written down a rough draft of the story with rough ideas for every section/entry/episode what have you but the actual dialouge will be stream of conciousness I think it will seem more natural that way.
I have a few ideas for down the line that might be tough to do but I'll cross that bridge when I come to it.

The Meta section of the forum is your friend. The actual ARG section is supposed to be completely free from PMs - there's no reason to post this here.
And don't be so scared of the 'Edit' button, I promise it won't bite you and it sure will help to not make your threads look way too cluttered for no good reason.

Sorry I thought I saw some other threads and figured it was okay as long as you don't say details.
would it be ok if I just make a thread inquiring what people would like to see in a story? not just for me but all the people making stories?

The Slender Man section seems pretty lax as far as rules go compared to the rest of UnFiction, so a lot of stuff goes unnoticed here. As for a thread about what people would like to see, I don't see a problem with that as long as it wasn't pertaining to any particular ARG (concept or otherwise).
