Just got home from the TN showing, O...M.....G that was good. I like the subtle 3D that they used. As far as swag goes, we had ASUS coupons, Daft Punk Tron Soundtrack flyers and the Sam & Quorra posters. We didn't have a lot of people so there were a ton of posters left. Guess who got a box of 50 posters. Smile Met a few FLYNN LIVES members, one let me see the Neutral Bit he had gotten at the beginning of the game. Awesome. I like the nods they did to the original as well, very well done. I can't wait for this movie to come out. Rock On

Pretty Good

You are right, Sam had no expression at all...for a guy who just got sucked into a whole new world he didn't act like it was a big deal...even when he saw his dad I would be like "where the heck have you been all my life!" But besides his dull personality the picture was great, the light cycles and disc wars are awesome. and it was good too see Jeff Bridges back. Over all it looks like it's going to be great. Can't wait for Dec 17th to come around.....

Just came back from TRON Night at AMC Mississauga, ON. In terms of the IMAX 3D experience, this theatre was just recently retrofitted with pseudo-IMAX setup. You can look up Gizmodo for more information. Also, which was pretty interesting was the glasses they gave out. Instead of the typical 'RealD3D', they gave out AMC x IMAX glasses that are supposedly passive rather than active shutter glasses. Overall, there wasn't much difference than the two.

After the movie, we we're given TRON Legacy posters that specifically say limited edition collectors poster on them, and two postcards that were advertisements for TRON Soundtrack and ASUS. Some people apparently received CDs with TRON games on them. Unfortunately I didn't get to get one (If you have it, it would be much appreciated if you could post an .iso)

Lastly, I don't know if this applies to anyone else, but we had a Disney representative on site during the event. Boy, did she fake a smile. Her attitude was bitchy alright.

It was nice to see Olivia Wilde in a non-House character... But then again I'd watch a two hour movie of her staring at a potted plant, so maybe I'm a little biased.

As for the reshoots, what we saw got what seemed to be pretty much the whole CGI treatment, so it wouldn't make much sense to put that much effort into something that was re-shot.

Sam seemed wooden, but I think that's on purpose.

Movie spoiler, perhaps....

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
I found it amusing that one of the first things that you hear is Sam and Alan talking about the "yearly stunts" Sam does at corporate events, and Alan praises his last one. I don't know if his parachute jump will be in the movie, but considering that there is that one early scene in the first trailer of him standing on top of a building, that might be it.

Has anyone noticed that there appears to be a line of code on the edge of the Tron: Legacy cards from ASUS? If you look on the back of the card and on the right hand side, it looks like a line of symbols. Could it be a code? Since it looks like there are cards with different characters, maybe each line of code is different? Maybe it's nothing, but I thought I should mention it...

That was quite nice, at Cherry Hill NJ. Got 3 posters, and two postcards. Could have grabbed more posters, but I didn't want to be greedy.

There was one woman in a Flynn lives shirt, and a bunch of us with Encom badges. The guy checking our IDs and such took a bunch of pics of us, so maybe we'll end up on some promotional thing. They were pretty heavy handed with the security- no phones or other electronics, and they used the metal wands on us. But otherwise, a pretty happy crowd.

One note about the postcards- specifically the code on the side:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
On the right side, lists the words Encom International Dot Com Asus Innovation, which takes you to a website: http://www.encominternational.com/asusinnovation/. not much, but it's there

Just got back from London. Glad i went to the Leicester Square showing Smile
Met up with some cool Tron fans and everybody was really friendly.
Im pleased to say Tron Night didnt give much away in the way of spoilers,it was a good taster to get you even more in the mood for the film.
The 3D looked amazing and the sound was great. What really got to me the most was the Recognizers, on the big screen in 3D they looked so real and the sound...omg those Recognizers have got some guts Cool
I took a pic of part of the Leicester Square crowd, would have needed a super wide angle lens to fit them all in Wink
All in all a worth while trip but i think my wife was more excited about meeting Alice Cooper when we were waiting to go in Wink

Just returned from the Boston showing. SWAG include the poster below, the ASUS coupon and one other postcard. I too was able to score some extra posters and have 5 to give away to the first 4 people who pm me their addresses (the first goes to XombieKitty as promised Wink ). My quick review is available at my blog at http://www.2old2play.com/Blog/Waterborn.

Did anyone else notice the Coleco hand-held baseball game on the couch in the basement of Flynn's Arcade? I have one in my personal collection of games. Thought that was a great nod to the 80's.

The couch was identical to the original movie. Smile

Not to mention the two songs that played: Separate Ways (Worlds Apart) and Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This), both of which are from 1983, the year after the original Tron was released.

And I could pick out several well known video games when he flipped the switch (Donkey Kong was BLARING!).

I noticed that as well. Here is a pic of the characters in question from my card.

my thoughts

I met Master Luke tonight, him, my brother and I were the only people to show up with their Encom badges. When we showed it to the Disney rep he said, "What are those?!?, I wouldn't know I haven't watched Tron since 1981"

The Arlington, TX showing was dead, but hey Rangers are in the series so maybe that was it. Rolling Eyes

I think this film looks awesome, maybe they just showed us the best 20 minutes, but at first I thought this was going to be a case where they did a crap ton of advertising to mask the fact it was a terrible film.

I don't think that is the case, I still refuse to see it opening night, but I cannot wait to see this movie.

My brother and I agree that the director gave this whole movie a Blade Runner feel. It looks SICK!

I was at the Boston screening too! I wonder if we met...

But yeah, the graphics are amazing. The light cycles look fantastic. Acting...eh. Fingers crossed that it doesn't end up ruining the film.

I'm still crazy pumped for December though.

Just got back from the screening in Frisco, TX. Only about 50 people showed up and they had lots of the posters and cards left over that they let us grab extras, even though they almost forgot to give anyone 3-D glasses }:>.
I'm seeing the characters along the right edge of the ASUS card, still working on figuring that out.

Unrelated but got a kick out of the guys in front of us talking about bad TV shows representing High School kids in adult situations, and they didn't believe that I was old enough to remember the original 90210. Thanks for the compliment guys.

I was the bald guy with the Flynn Lives T-shirt, about 3/4 of the way up the seats.
