Checking in from Sandy, UT. I ditched a couple classes today to be able to see this, but I was definitely stressing out getting there, tons of construction on the freeway. god, I hate Utah construction. But after all the stress I got there and was able to get some pretty good seats.

There was a fairly good turn out, not a ton of people, but enough to give a satisfying applause at the end.

As for the clips
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
I thought they were excellent. I was worried about there being too many spoilery elements in the footage, but I was happy to see that they mostly expanded on what has been shown through the trailers. Seeing the Recognizer descend on Sam in the full IMAX aspect ratio was definitely a highlight. I also thought the use of 3D looks good so far, for example looking through the floor of the Recognizer onto the grid below was absolutely breath taking in 3D.

As for the acting, I think it looks decent so far. Remember people, these scenes were all given out of context, and an emotion heavy scene like the one at the end requires a certain level of build up in order to be most effective. It might be a tad wooden, but it's nothing that will ruin the film by any means, and by watching the movie in full I think the emotions will naturally play out better.

Now, for what everyone's interested in: swag. We were given the Rinzler variation of the Asus promo card, the TRON: Legacy Soundtrack promo card, the TRON Night wristbands, and the TRON Night posters. There doesn't appear to be any clues or event codes on anything (outside of the previously discovered Encom International link).

Anyway it was a good time, not quite worth all the stress I endured trying to get there on time, but certainly fun and I'm glad I got to go. I met up with a couple other Flynn Lives followers, saw some great footage, and got a cool poster out of the deal; I can't complain Wink

Cary, NC? I went to Concord Mills and I got a couple extra posters and will be out in Greensboro next month if you want to skip shipping.

ThI doubt I'd be able to come meet you anywhere in Greensboro, that would be a bit far for me. I'm all the way in Greenville, which is why I ended up not being able to go tonigh. Thanks for offering to meet me though, I'll definitely pay you to ship it, if you want! :)

Just came out of the Montreal showing. It was sold out, but the theater was only about a third full. Surprisingly, I was the only person with a encom badge and a Flynn Lives shirt.

Loved the footage and the four people I convinced to come with me are sold! They freaked out and are probably going to join me at the midnight showing.

They were giving out the Sam/Quorra poster and the Rinzler card. I couldn't get any extras, but in a day or so I'll ask the guys I went with if they want to keep them, they didn't seem to interested in the swag. If they don't want to keep them, I'll offer them up here to you guys.

The Irvine screening was great. Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz came out and talked but they really didn't "answer our TRON questions", they just gave away light up tron hats (which are super cool, my friend caught one) and they asked some trivia questions and gave out some posters signed by the writers.
I thought the footage was amazing, I'm really excited.

edit: Oh and only about half the theater was full. They said it seated 500 people and there was about 200-250 people there

AMC Village Crossing, Skokie, IL

I was at the Skokie/Chicago AMC showing this evening. The line started early (plenty of Threadless Tron hoodies), but the theater was only between 1/2 and 2/3 full. They were so crazy about recording devices, they made a guy check his GPS. At least they had a place to check things.

Footage was mostly what was shown at SDCC this year, with a few extra scenes. I was worried about the Flynn/Quorra scene when I saw it online earlier today, but it plays better in the scene.

We got the Rinzler card & the poster on the way out. No Daft Punk cards for us. Anyone have a scan of it yet?

Also...on the Encom/Asus site, "Be sure to drink your Ovaltine," anyone? I mean, I can understand a product tie in, but on an in game website? Really? I saw the symbols at dinner, and I immediately thought there'd be one code per card, and then that we had to collaborate again to open up a new phase of the game...but no. Again, the ARG teases.

extras.

I didn't want to be greedy but there were so many extras after the Arlington, TX screening.

the only thing I am glad I grabbed was two unused wristbands.

Checking in from Gilbert(Phoenix) AZ. Just like everybody else, not much of a turnout. Just maybe, a good 30 people at the max. Grabbed a lot of extra posters. Got a Rinzler ASUS card.

My reacation to the footage? Amazing. I loved everybit of it. I still think 3D as a gimmick, but it looked great in this movie. Better than Avatar I think.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
the part where kevin stands up and turns around to see sam, and you can see his "window" behind him. That made Kevin looked REALLY flat looking and bothered me. Anybody else notice that?

All in all. Thank you Disney. I'm even more excited for the film now.

The other cards seem to be an overseas exclusive. The guy who posted on Tron Sector was from Singapore. Said there was a bag of swag sitting on each seat when they got in the theater.

I have extra DP cards for the cost of shipping for anyone interested. Really looking to trade for some of those international cards or any of the SDCC postcards, though. Very Happy

Just got home from the TN showing, O...M.....G that was good. I like the subtle 3D that they used. As far as swag goes, we had ASUS coupons, Daft Punk Tron Soundtrack flyers and the Sam & Quorra posters. We didn't have a lot of people so there were a ton of posters left. Guess who got a box of 50 posters. Smile Met a few FLYNN LIVES members, one let me see the Neutral Bit he had gotten at the beginning of the game. Awesome. I like the nods they did to the original as well, very well done. I can't wait for this movie to come out. Rock On

*neutral bit guy here w/ horrible Username*

Yeah, Knoxville was barely attended. Probably 40-80 people. They had like 5 boxes of posters left over. I should have taken two boxes, but meh, got a stackload of both of the cards.

Worth skipping two classes and driving ~5 hours? Hell yeah.

Checking in from Orlando/Altamonte location.
No one there, even the reps knew about ARGs and asked to take photos of my Encom badge and pins.
Only one other person showed with a badge but He had been sent a link from a friend and knew nothing about the game. The Altamonte theater had been sold out holding 450 and we were lucky to have 75 people actually show up! Heavy security 5 guys, and we were metal detector wanded for recording devices twice.
Same swag as everyone else. Lets hope the ASUS code turns into something.

checking in from Citywalk

there was a kind of short line outside, but vips got in first, so the theatre was packed. the event was moderated by a local dj named manny from the show "manny in the mornings." an in-costume siren was on hand a la comic con '10. they gave out the rinzler asus card, the daft punk card, red and blue glowsticks, posters, a crapload of the spinmaster figures and die cast vehicles, and the previously mentioned TRON Legacy hats, which i wanted but did not get Sad

Steve Lisberger spoke before the reel was shown. The usual spiel (the 10-year olds had to grow up and make the movie/tron was my company's mickey mouse, etc.). and NO Q & A session with him. The film was shown and we were all given coupons for the amc on the way out. If you bought a soda they had coke zero/ tron evolution cups. also the amc employees got these sweet identity disc necklace/lanyard things (i was majorly jealous). Also they were filming us, taking pictures of us, and interviewing us on camera. My friend heard them say that the interviews will be shown nationally tomorrow afternoon/night and online (could have misunderstood, so dont take my word for it)

overall, very cool, the footage looks...out of this world. (and hey that dog is adorable) i do wish they had more of those hats though! :b
