TN in Chula Vista...

Saw the footage at the Plaza Bonita AMC down here.... only had posters on hand there (no cards, wristbands, or anything like that). Not a large turnout there (only one line actually... no standbys!), but a fun time none the less. Thanks for the scans of the cards! Great seeing the stuff. That Citywalk showing must have been a fun one!

Re: Tron DAY Tickets
Burbank

Burbank was much the same as has already been reported. We had two local DJ hosts (from Power 106); they gave out the Rinzler postcards (top row, third from left); the preview included
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
scenes 20 (Sam and Alan in Sam's place, Sam in Flynn's Arcade), 27 (Recognizer captures Sam), 32 (Sam in disc battle), 52 (Quorra rescues Sam from Rinzler on light cycle), and 56 (Cora brings Sam to Kevin)...

...oh, and the theater wasn't very full, so at the end they said anyone who wanted extra posters could help themselves. I waited around to make sure that everyone else who wanted extras got 'em, and I still got a box. A whole [bleep]ing box. Mr. Green

So here's the deal: If you want a poster, send me a PM. I will give you my mailing address. You send me whatever packaging you want me to use (i.e., if you want it folded send an envelope, if you want it rolled up send a poster tube, etc.), bearing your address and enough postage to get it returned to you. I'll stick a poster in it and drop it back in the mail. I'm not terribly worried about running out, but just in case: First come, first served.

Edit: The posters are all the same "original tron logo remake (reaching up to the floating disc)."

Were there posters other than the original Tron logo remake? (reaching up to the floating disc) That's what I have 50 of. I know there were 7 others in that pic a few pages ago, but were any of them handed out?

The Portland theater was about 2/3 full, with most in the top 2/3 of the seating and a smattering in the lower 1/3. We could leave our electronics in an envelope and got a ticket for pickup. This had a fair bit to do with the relatively cutthroat parking at that location, and how spread out the parking is.

I think Portland had extras left over, but I was just thrilled to be able to get there. I wasn't able to get tickets, then I was offered a +1 seat but was scheduled to work (a really stupid short shift no less), but my coworker said she'd cover my shift since it was so short and she didn't need to be anywhere for the extra few hours. Fortune favored me, and I'm glad I took a chance by bringing my Flynn Lives shirt and Encom badge with me.
Very Happy

The reps in the Portland location asked for some feedback after the showing. Only a few took advantage. More than one person noticed my shirt and badge, and the reps took a picture of me - we'll see if it shows up somewhere. They seemed to know there was an ARG, but if they knew more about it than that they played dumb.

anyone from the LA back yet

BeefKiller said that one of the locations got a special coin or token.

Anyone get back with one of those yet.

so far this seems consistent, but exclusive exclusives... Cursing B.S. Crying or Very sad

in that order.

But those arcade aid mailers should be coming soon, and hopefully they make up for it... Rolling Eyes

After watching the preview I am almost entirely convinced that the plot will be very similar to the Tron 2.0 game that was released in 2003. (Good game)

back from the century amc 15 in century city, mod disc in hand.

free swag: poster, 2 postcards, a glow necklace loop thingy that will wear off in a few hours, tron night wristband. amc handed out coupons to see a movie for $5 the same night.

guest:
james frain was there and introduced the movie. he plays jarvis, and is also in the show true blood. he sat to my right, a few empty seats down, during the imax 3d screening.

the imax 3d is sharper and seems to have a better 3d than the one at disney electronica. but the electronica one has the light effects going for it.

edited to add there were some djs from star 98.7 giving some prizes(mostly candy) for trivia. it got to the point where they started quizzing the audience on songs by overplayed radio bands i could care less about.

ElecTRONica night had no ARG that I could spot. I saw one lady with an Encom badge there, so at least I wasn't the only one. There were 5 props from the film. 2 helmets, Flynn's robe, a concept art drawing of lightcycles, & the full size Sam outfit. I tried for pics but they aren't worth posting.

Swag was a one off meetup flynns arcade coin.

I missed out on the writers signing, so there might have been more there, but not sure.

It was a great time though. You couldn't even get to a game in Flynn's it was so popular! lol. Funny, Starcade in Tomorroland is empty, but Flynn's is packing them in!

Sorry I missed you Tyler! The line was HUGE when I got there and doubled before they let us in.

No probs dude! Glad you made it in the end!

I really enjoyed the sneak peek! The cinema itself was HUGE!

The "Games" scenes were really cool, and the scene between Kevin and Sam Flynn was very touching. However, to be honest, I'm not sure if Garrett Hedlund is a good pick for the lead role - he does tend to mumble his words a little and appeared a bit wooden. Additionally, maybe it was me but I couldn't understand what some of the programs were saying, e.g. the guard who was assigning roles to the strays, saying "Games" and then something else that I couldn't figure out ("To The Fields"??).

However, IMO Olivia Wilde looks fantastic - and she seems to have nailed her character very well. It makes a welcome change to see her play someone that isn't as hard as her character in House.

I think he may have been saying "rectify", not sure though.

Olivia Wilde is stunning, and I think she'll be able to bring a wide-eyed innocence to her role as Quorra. I'm one of the few people I know who actually like her in House though, so I'm probably biased.

Yeah, Knoxville was barely attended. Probably 40-80 people. They had like 5 boxes of posters left over. I should have taken two boxes, but meh, got a stackload of both of the cards.

Worth skipping two classes and driving ~5 hours? Hell yeah.

What's up dude, it was good to meet you.

Quick Note- Only had one problem with the screening in Knoxville, TN and that was security. A guy went through the line wanding people for electronics, well I have a Pacemaker. Anyone knows anything about them, you're not supposed to go through metal detectors or be wanded and I DID warn the guy. I even showed him my Medic Alert necklace. He still proceeded to wand me and HELD THE THING OVER MY PACEMAKER. I wanted to freakin punch the guy!!! I had friends in line who saw it and the kept asking if I was ok, if I go to to doctor and something is wrong I'm freakin suing. I feel good, I'd notice if it went haywire. That's my only complaint about the night. Cursing He even said when it went off, "Oh, you do have one." Shocked WTFH?! GRRRRRRR

Sounds like everyone had a great time. I was unable to attend the event myself due to last minute issues that arose but I'm glad to hear the footage was awesome and that folks scored some cool stuff to boot... Cool

I went to the Phoenix (Westgate) IMAX (the one right near the Phoenix Cards stadium) as a guest of nichkname's here. BIG, MASSIVE props for an internet dude showing up and letting me get in as his guest!
I noticed a lot of older people waiting in the line. Here I am thinking this movie is a younger-generation's game, and I'm happy to see it's dug in with a lot of people! We had the same check-in-all-electronics-yes-even-your-ipod-shuffle-sir from the Disney security types, but it was orderly and made sense. Also, I talked with Justin who was the IMAX manager before the whole thing started. Very good people doing their job over there!

So, I've never seen an IMAX film. I had a conversation with my wife before heading over that went something like "I'm either going to hate that I did this, or I'm not going to shut up even more about Tron Legacy from now on" which prompted a "ugh, go do your nerd thing already!" When I saw the giant screen, I let out a loud YEAH! and sat down pretty close to the sweet spot, at least I hoped. The lights dimmed, we got a gimmicky IMAX OMG COUNTDOWN IN 3D!!!!!1! and then, the scenes started.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
I'm not going to break each one down. I was fuggin' sold when the Recognizer scene played, that shit was fooking epic. It was massive sick epic twisted! I couldn't even articulate what I had just saw, even after a 45min drive home, the effects and this movie were just made for each other. There was a scene where there's 3? red lightcycles that "flip" up with their trails on (coming from underneath the ground or something, they don't just "pop" up, they're already running full bore when the grid flips them to the other side) I was already having problems keeping my mouth shut-jaw kept hitting the floor-but they got the lightcyles down pat in this movie.

And Daft Punk is going to be bangin'!!!!!!!!1111111111!

Disney lucked out on this franchise Laughing

Sounds like it was a fun time and people got some cool stuff.

Not sure if I really need a poster or not, as I'm just as happy with an image on my computer. Takes up less space Smile

I'm just glad I didn't miss out on an achievement badge in the game, heh.
