Atlanta was barely 1/3 full. Waltzed in on standby, no problem. Got a poster and card, but no cup or lanyard. Enjoyed it highly.

@NWinTN that's crazy, dude. I can't believe they did that! Do you have a card saying you have a pacemaker or anything? Maybe you could make an official looking one?

I'm sure the guard was saying "Rectify" or "Games". My wife couldn't make it out either. I distinctly heard "rectify" each time, though.

There was also one other word they used besides "Rectify" and "Games"; I don't remember it right now.

And, yes, security entering the theater was higher than at the county courthouse. No cellphones allowed in the theater AT ALL, not even phones without cameras (such as mine). I had to go back to the parking lot to put my phone in my car.

However, to be honest, I'm not sure if Garrett Hedlund is a good pick for the lead role - he does tend to mumble his words a little and appeared a bit wooden.

Thats six people in this thread who have mentioned about Garretts acting being wooden. The scene where Sam is talking to Alan was a bit wooden but thats my only gripe with what i saw last night as the rest of the preview was excellent.

I didnt notice any security at the Empire in London Leicester square, no staff checking bags, just some slight queue control.

a lot of people had the same problem with Keanu Reeves' acting, and I never really found it a problem. A lot of people are more stoic, and less facially reactive, and I personally don't see it as a problem.

Ok, chiming in with my downtown Toronto experience...

Being on the VIP/Press list was beneficial, but ultimately it didn't make much of a difference (unless I missed something). I got to the theater almost exactly at 6pm, with another friend already in line. When I got in to find him, he was already at the front of the line now getting his wristband. The immediate benefit of vip was that I didn't have to wait in line, just got my wristband right there (which was identical to everyone else's), and told I could go straight in to the theater (skip to the front of the security line), but why? Decided to wait with friends in line - it was really small at this point anyway, around 6:15ish, with maybe 20 people ahead of us.

Security was frankly kind of weak this time. They were taking phones and cameras and whatnot in ziplocks, but I put all my stuff into my backpack to make it easier to store away and locate - unlike other similar events though, the reps wouldn't take it saying it was too messy there or something (tho there was one backpack on the floor behind the table, and empty otherwise) and insisted that my backpack be searched, because I had to take it in - essentially causing a minor scene because I had everything packed away neatly. I dug out my phone again to give the rep, left my camera in my backpack, and went in. No search. *shrug* whatever. (no I didn't use it =P)

In the theater people trickled in, and it felt like forever until 7:00pm rolled around. I think, as others have reported, the theater made it to about 1/3 full. The hoodie glowed nicely Smile

We joked and reminisced about the trailer preview night a while back, how one guy bought a huge bucket of popcorn, only to eat a handful by the time the trailer preview was done, yelling "THAT'S IT?!" with the full bucket still in his lap... Laughing tonight it looked like half the people came in with a fair quantity of snacks. Hope they were planning to see a full movie after this =)

It was odd seeing specially reserved press seats scattered around the theater almost randomly, when most of the place was empty.

Anyway, we had a Disney rep on hand as well to introduce the preview; he read from a sheet; wasn't very endearing either, like he was forced to be there or something.

The scripted IMAX welcome began, instructing people that once finished to leave to the right, and was promptly interrupted by a rep telling everyone to actually leave to the left at the end... and then courteously reminded everyone to turn off all cell phones and pagers. Um... A few humorous responses came from people, "you've got our phones!" "YOU turn it off!" etc. Ah, good times.

The 3D IMAX intro I think was updated since my last visit, because this time it seemed mind-blowingly 3D. A stark contrast to the 3D in Tron, which as also discussed earlier seems very low-key, but used well in appropriate scenes.

As for the actual preview content -- I am super glad it was actually mostly brand new footage. Some was already shown at other preview events and available online in varying capacities, but honestly - I didn't want it to end! I wanted to see the whole friggin movie right there Very Happy

It seemed like some audio editing was done though on scenes we've seen before - for eg, I didn't recall the female programs' voices to be so..digital. IIRC, they were originally much more clean, 'human'-like.

When the preview finished, someone tried to be funny and made the comment "That's it? That wasn't 20 minutes, that was like 3, tops!" Silence from the crowd... dude, not even close. It was great, people loved it, and it actually did feel as long as a standard 1/2 hour tv show (~23 minutes w/o commercials).

Swag was the Tron Night poster (Sam/Quorra) and the two promo cards, so nothing new here either. Didn't think of sticking around to grab more posters though.

A couple other guys had the Threadless TRON hoodie which was great Smile I managed to give out a few items of FL swag... but with a much smaller turnout than anticipated by the online hype, there weren't many people really at all who seemed connected with the Flynn Lives campaign. A couple of FL Tshirts were in the crowd, but I couldn't spot any real ARG swag.

I'm thinking that the midnight premiere will be more fun to attend over all... but the general sentiment on leaving this preview was much more positive than the previous trailer preview night which left many wanting and ranting.

I had a couple hours to kill before heading home so hung out with a friend for a while and grabbed a geocache before catching the last bus home at 11:30. Smile Overall, it was a decent day.

Our theater had an amazing assembly line system all set up, with stacks of paperbags already prepared with a claim ticket attached to each bag. They let you drop your phone into the bag, they handed you your half of the claim check and then stapled each bag shut while you watched. Afterwards, the claim line hummed smoothly, with an attendant to take your claim ticket and rip open the paper bag for you to reach in and take your phone out. I was impressed! (I'm easily impressed?) We were also "wanded" by a security guard at the door, and bags were subject to search, although my open purse did not get any real scrutiny. My keys did make the wand beep, but they didn't ask me to show them. *shrug* The real fun was the speech given about being observed by guards using night vision scopes.

did anyone get a Megamind preview before the Tron sequence? They left the lights on until right as the Tron trailer was starting. I even said out loud: "Lights!" a couple times.

I enjoyed the preview, and am thoroughly looking forward to the movie. But, the most memorable thing for me last night; the guy walking around Bridgeport Cinemas in a long trench coat with hood, and a very large meathook. Shocked

How was this figured out from the code on the cards?

I hope there is more to this site...
And something to come from Tron Night in the way of Flynn Lives

Anyways, I quite enjoyed this preview, and I am even more anxious not to see they whole thing. Razz

About 23:47 altogether.

Yeah, I've got a card that I carry and my very obvious Medic Alert necklace which I showed him. The people around me who heard me telling him about it looked at him like he was nuts when he was wanding me. Friggin moron. "wow, i guess you do have one." Shocked it still ticks me off.

I also thought the guard was saying "rectify" and "games".

the screening in orange ca was just like the rest posted, but the AMC where it was at gave all of us coupons as we left the theater. There were two coupons, one was good for any movie for $5 that night. and the other is good for a free combo (popcorn, candy, and drink) on your next visit.

so i saw jack@ss 3D for $5. not a bad deal, and a funny movie

Yeah, had to laugh at the $5 coupon for a movie considering that all movies are $5 Mon-Thurs at most AMC's. And the combo coupon wasn't even good that night.

And as far as the guard, he was definitely saying, "Rectify" and "Games". It was the same as the SDCC scene.
