Was at the Riverside, CA Tyler IMAX. Line wasn't that large. Got there about 5:30 Didn't get to bring any of my stuff with me. Saw one guy with a ID Disc on his back, a few tron t-shirts, one or two Encom badges, etc etc...

No standby line was needed. Theater was about 1/2 full if lucky. The AMC rep had to read from a prepared script and in the middle of it, her walkie-talkie went off which drew a laugh from the crowd..... not sure what it was that came over, but still funny.

The IMAX countdown was in your face 3-D and pretty cool. I liked the subtlety of the movie 3D effects. Didn't deter from the experience one bit.

A lot of what they showed, I had seen from other sources, but it was awesome to see the new stuff. Disc wars was my favorite. "So that's how this is played" AWESOME!

100% certain it is "Rectify" & "Games"

I used my $5 coupon to see Red afterwards. Pretty cool movie. Action/comedy shoot-em-up. Definitely recommend.

Can't wait to see what's next for this..... I am seriously thinking about catching the midnight opening of this, even if I do have to work at 8am the next day.

Lol, that was me with the disc on my back. Wink

I also posted a shot of the 3D Oakley glasses, (and the entire display at EOL club):

They did not have on display the Oakley/Tron 3D glasses, but did anybody happen to see them?
I really don't see any value in having your own high end pair of 3D glasses, I'm just really curious to know what they look like.

And is any other city offering the exclusive Dec 15th showing?

I enjoyed the preview, and am thoroughly looking forward to the movie. But, the most memorable thing for me last night; the guy walking around Bridgeport Cinemas in a long trench coat with hood, and a very large meathook. Shocked

I think that was Spacely lurking around to freak you out.
Twisted Evil

Hedlund doesn't strike me as exactly 'wooden' so much as portraying the blase', jaded attitude of the 'orphan' child survivor. Of course, if I wanted to see another over-dramatic performance I'd just go see some Leo DiCrappyOh... I mean DiCaprio movie.
Very Happy

I've always had an impression of the Sam Flynn character as something of a male Paris Hilton, for some reason.

Sorry Eolith, I just re-read your post, those were the 3D glasses? The ones they had on display looked exactly like that but were the normal Oakley sunglasses.

I guess it just comes in 3D and non-3D form. Thanks for the pic.

Yep, those are (I forgot the specific model of oakleys) with tron branding and passive 3D lenses put in them.

The benefit is that you can always just replace them with some other ones if you want to use them outside of movie theaters since most 3D tvs use shutter glasses.

I want to see somebody do a pencil sketch of that... two beefy burly military types weapons ready wearing mickey ears flanking the movie projector.

My brother said I should submit the idea to teefury or woot...but I have to figure out how I suggest a design, as I have NO artist ability. I want to see one as well.

Well, you could find someone who regularly submits a ton of shirt designs to Woot and Teefury (and Threadless)... Wink

Well the real joke is that you won't even save any money with them. Theaters will charge you the premium for 3D movies whether or not you bring your own.

That...is the stupidest thing I've seen in a very long time. Aside from some of the crap my students come up with, of course.

Where to begin?

1. They don't look remotely Tron-ish. Not at all.
2. They look stupid.
3. You pay a hundred and fifty bucks plus tax for a pair of glasses you can only use in certain theatres for certain movies.
4. They are passive polarization glasses, and are more expensive than a pair of good quality active shutter glasses.

I just...I can't wrap my mind around it. I mean, Tron shaving cream would make more sense than this. Tron Hostess fruit pies would be more realistic (with real glowing cherry center!). Tron kitchen appliences I could get behind.

You know what? If they were Tron-inspired sunglasses, and looked actually Tron-ish (not just with a blue 0 on the side) then maybe I could understand. I would think it was kind of dumb, but I could see it being cool. Hell, I think that that Tron watch is pretty sexy. But you can't even use these as sunglasses. It's just so stupid!

Right, I'm going to stop before I have an aneurysm.

The only saving grace fro the glasses is that you can change out the lenses to normal ones afterwards, but that will cost extra money. The record for expensive useless tron branded stuff goes with those $800 stripper heels.
