A couple of thoughts, although nothing solid;

"4D and 5O's last leg" could be referring to a relay, possibly some sort of charity race, I'm not sure about class names in the states but to me it sounds like 4D and 5O could be the names of classes at a school. So possibly meeting at the last leg of a school's charity run?

I agree unexpected title is probably the film, not 100% sure about it though...

The Foghorn was what really got me thinking. In the 50's Ray Bradbury wrote a short story called "The Fog Horn". The story is about a sea monster drawn to the sound of a lighthouse's fog horn because of the lonely sound it makes. The reason I thought of it was the sea monster is probably the last of it's kind and probably millions of years old, an ancient sea creature, ring any bells? It's probably nothing but to me this seems like a possible connection to the coelacanth.

I'm probably way off but worth a shot Smile

4D and 5O's last leg

Could it be that 4D and 5O are two streets and at the intersection the 5O continue just one more block, like a dead end street.Question

But i think, if that thought is at the right direction, and that is a big IF, the most important in the message are the foghorn and the unexpected title.

Could it be 4 Down and 5 Over?

I don't know where to go 4 down and 5 over, though. If you go 4 lines down and 5 words across on the newspaper print out you get the word 'wars' but that doesn't seem to make any sense.

If 4D & 5O are grid coordinates (4 Down & 5 Over) we have the perfect grid w/the Best Times to Spot Rare Fish Calendar.
"Last Leg" could refer to the later time of the day to spot the rare fish.

Depending on how we count 4 Down for October it's either the 21st at 11:09-11:46PM (a full moon BTW) or the 28th at 5:06-5:51PM.

And if there is a boat involved with spotting these rare fish then a fog horn makes sense.

Interesting interesting.
Is actually the model plane only a model plane, or does it have a normal prototype with the same name.

Because I'd say, if there is an usual size plane somewhere, it were reasonable to do a meet point at his last leg (even if the plane couldn't be so huge for not seeing people ot the first leg). I mean, the legs = landing gears.

Or perhaps it's something completely different.

P.S. If it isn't plane, but something like statue of an animal, like dinosaur or so, it has to be really huge and its legs should be kinda staying in a line - imagine dinos at catwalk.
P.P.S. Bring us DDDD OOOOO something, or is it nonsence?
P.P.P.S. Perhaps 4d => Cinema 4d => cinema theater
and 5o like, "fifth octopus at the facade of a local cinema theater, and meeting point is the last leg of this 5th octopus"
P.P.P.P.S. Sorry for this brain fu storming, I am just clueless, but pretend to have some ideas, lol.
P.P.P.P.P.S. Actually 4d5o is hexadecimal for "M". McDonalds ? But where are its legs?
UPDATE. OK, not really, actually only 4d is "m". 5o hasn't hexadecimal meaning.

If you read it as Four D and Five Zero, it spells MP, and would read MP's last leg....which doesn't really get me anywhere.

If the font is "Arial Unicode MS" I'd say that 5O, the O is the letter, not the number.

Foghorn

The two slang terms about foghorn:

meaning a crazy person (ex. Foghorn leghorn)

or british slang meaning one who talks loudly.

foghorn

Here's a quote from the wikipedia section on foghorns http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Foghorn .
Quote:

Fog signals have also been used on railway lines since the middle of the 19th century to indicate to the driver of a moving train that a broken down train, a working party or some other unforeseen hazard is on the line ahead. They are small explosive detonators or torpedoes which are placed on the track and detonated by the pressure of the wheels of the oncoming train. The loud report of the explosion provides the indication to the driver that in most cases requires the train to be stopped immediately. During World War II these devices were modified to detonate demolition charges during railroad sabotage operations.

Maybe there's some connection to the teaser train crash...

4D & 5O's last leg

It definitely has to be a reference point that Josh could figure out. Pretty sure we know Josh is in Beckley. Someone mentioned Josh's Yahoo profile says Beckley, WV as his location. So, 4Dand 5O's last leg must reference something in or near Beckley. Something on campus? State park trail? come to think of it, in Josh's CL postings there was a picture pinned to the wall with some rippling water. http://super8.wikibruce.com/File:CL_CactusCookieJar.jpg
It looks very woodsy wherever the pic was taken. perhaps this is a place Josh is familiar with and can figure out where 4D and 5O's last leg is.

The foghorn throws me off. When I think foghorn i just picture a canned one. Googling Foghorn brings up a ton of the cartoon character and some pretty big sized actual foghorns. Nothing that would fit in such a case seen in the CL listings.

If we cut the "expected" from "unexpected" and add the "title" part we get close to the name of the mp3 file at STIES "untitled.mp3". Just saying Rolling Eyes

While trying to decode this latest non-clue, its also about them turning off the PDP-11 so it dosent load past the 'press any key to continue' page.. so, nobody can access the printouts anymore..

Wonder why they would do this? WE all thought we would need to access those other files during the course of the ARG (like whats the 'device'??) .. maybe they will use it again down the line, but it seems intentional and the reasoning is interesting..
Strange game so far..
