Yeaaah, I'm not such a fan of the new CNS slenderman. I remember it looking way different when the series started, and wasn't run in the tinychat shit. TT does have a CG (I think?) slenderman, and it looks great. Why? Because it doesn't look like a fucking alien. The only reason TT has a CG slenderman is so that he can have realistic looking tentacles.

About the symbol stuff, I think you should have your own, but only if it applies somehow. For example. the Severance symbol represents that. So does the symbol in TheRiddleOfTheTreeman, it is a mark on the main character's arm, and he wants to find out what the hell it is.

For proxies, I think you do need a twist to make them interesting. For example, having a man in a mask isn't exactly creepy. However, OurGodEvil's ancient demigod in a gas mask is creepy, has super-strength, but is still loyal to slenderman, and will still do his bidding.

But TT does it right, that CGI actually looks like time was put into it and Slendy doesn't look like one of those grey generic aliens like you said.

When CNS didn't have the tinychat so involved, their slenderman was actually played by a person so it looked REAL, especially that one scene in that house where Caught is stuck in and he walks right the fuck by the door, and it looks really really good.

CNS used to be good, but after those last two videos it's pretty much dead to me due to the ungodly amount of CGI and side story bullshit that no one can follow except the neckbeards and 14 year old girls sitting in the tinychat for months at a time just waiting for someone to pop in and say like three things and leave.

It's ridiculous and I am sick of it.

Yes, it is very annoying...I remember finding one of the "student's," channels from ICANSEETHEGIANT, and other than that video, EVERY SINGLE THING was about the CNS tinychat. You would not believe how obsessed some people are with that. I don't see the appeal, I guess. I mean, it is completely random when they learn something, and so much waiting is involved. bleugh.

And yeah, I remember how awesome it looked when Caught was leaving the house through the random door in the woods, and he reached out to grab him. Maybe his slenderman actor quit on him :l

Right, so, in respect to both CGI & Slender Man, I believe that variety is the key. The first season of Marble Hornets is considered the scariest for several reasons, one of which is that Slender Man is genuinely unpredictable. Now they've fallen into too much of a pattern, which makes it more predictable & safe.

As for CGI, there are some situations where it's just the most appropriate technique, but it's never successful to use it as the only technique. Even things shot in complete CGI tend to use motion capture.

To give CNS a little credit, I rewatched Rule 7 and that first scene with Slendy in the hotel room is actually done well IMO. If you watch closely, he actually fucking changes shape and grows taller while turning towards the cameraman.

It's easy to miss if you aren't watching closely because it's kind of jammed in there but that was the only well executed CGI slendy in that vid in my opinion because of that variety. Otherwise, the rest of the slendys all looked the same like they were copy and pasted.

Here's something I want to see: a series that actually ends. I've lost count of the number of good series which have got bogged down with the ever-present "increasingly huge gaps between episodes" syndrome because people's life got busier and busier (as it tends to do at the age of most series creators) and scheduling time to create updates gets harder and harder.

I'd really like to see a series which was carefully planned from the start to be over and done in the space of about a year (which practically speaking means you'd probably have to plan on wrapping it up in the space of 6 months to give yourself a big fat buffer). There's several series I used to be very keen on that I just don't keep up with any more because they've dragged on for too long and don't have enough story development per video to maintain my interest any more and don't seem to be getting any closer to a resolution.

StanFrederickBTS actually did something similar to that. I think it ended in about a year?
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
The creator releases new things every now and then, but they are more of optional tidbits for the fans of the series.

Here are some finished series I can think of right now:

OriginFiles, SlenderHaunting (might not want to bother with this one...), TheBoneCreekStory, WalkingWithGiants (also don't bother), 5Zer02 (although the creator is making a movie to wrap up all other plots. The actual channel is done though), Parts of OurGodEvil, which is a weird, sometimes third person series split into different substories, which are only connected by the antagonists (Elysium and Archive are done, and I'm pretty sure ElderGods is too. I believe it is supposed to start again after a year long hiatus).

Those are the ones I can think of right now. Also, ICANSEETHEGIANT (really good series) is likely to end in the next video, so that kind of counts

Reading this thread makes me feel very hopeful for my series... Hopefully some of you will be satisfied with what I come up with.

Wait, so you have a problem with slendy not looking human enough and/or looking kinda alien? HE IS A FREAKING FACELESS MONSTER WITH TENTACLES THAT CAN CHANGE ITS SIZE AT WILL!
Honestly, sometimes i really am questioning the logic of some people in the verse.

That isn't exactly what we mean, I think. CNS new Slenderman looks like a very generic, not creepy at all alien. TT's slenderman looks completely horrifying and all, but still appears humanoid enough to be a slender"man." CNS's does not appear "man," enough to be creepy. Part of the scariness comes from the unknown; is it a human experiment, is it a demon, is it a multi-dimensional being? Generic alien does not come to mind when thinking about it.

Well, if he looks too human, then he just looks like a guy in a costume, & if he looks too alien, then he just looks obviously fake. Design is tricky like that.

I'm not really complaining about CGI. I don't even know what CNS is, & I don't watch Tribe Twelve. I just wanted to respond with a point that I think generally holds true for a good story across the board--variety is the spice of life.

I will arbitrarily choose to complain about things that make no sense at all.

You know what's worse? He used a camera to film things! So overrated!

CNS is Caught not Sleeping. And I suggest you watch TribeTwelve, even if the first season is rather mediocre. The current plot is very interesting, and looks very good as well.

I've sampled Tribe Twelve, including to follow this crossover, & I really just don't like it.
