hmmmm somehow......... i think........we have an "i am your father" situation Very Happy

Mysterio sounds a bit like a father that needs something from his son, but dont wants to get him into more danger

maybe he left his family for security reasons back in the late 70ies

Multipsychoapopheniosis,

What I meant was that if we hadn't figured out the hole stuff by that time we would have lost the thrill of watching the story happen live, and after some calm period I believe that everyone would want that, right?
Besides that I got say that the time zone is killing me, and the daylight saving is not making it better.

Multi;

You're right about being able to see the conversation on STIES...
for now (as you inferred may be the case).

Gramma,

Yeah, it's real hard to see the reasoning behind what Josh is offering up compared with what he is getting in return.

Notice the questions Josh asks, and Mysterio's non-response:
who are you?
how do you know him?
Is hein trouble or soemthing?
important how?
why?
buthow will i know it if i find it?

In fact, the last question is answered by Mysterio hanging up!

I feel this is dad talking to son unbeknownst.

Also, I STILL can't see the log... whatever.

Ok So, I guess Josh does mention that he didnt understand the other stuff Mysterioso sent him..

I take this to mean that Josh, like us, dosent know what to make of the two folders on the desktop Mysterioso placed there for him..

Also, when Mysterioso askes Josh what exactly he found he mentions 3 things only..the film strip, the picture and the metal cannister.. but none of these 3 things were on CL.. unless we missed them..Yet he makes no mention of the things he did post on CL..

Things to consider..

Melodyman;

I'm thinking that Mysterio already was aware of the craigslist items since he asked Joshio to take them down. [EDIT: Duh, I'm understanding what you're saying about those items, I think. Maybe Mysterio just doesn't see anything that stands out (yet) as the rest of us, and is looking for something tht makes sense. Only the "metal cyilinder with three dots on it" seems to warrant more attention from him. He doesn't ask Joshio to send him a copy of the photo, so maybe she/he's already aware of the photo, perhaps being in it?]

At the part of the transcript where it says:

"Host: tyell me exactly what they are
Guest1: that scrap of film from the canister
Guest1: a picture of some guys in front of a building, looks like a hangar?"

Do you suppose that the picture is the one found here that we tried to figure out:
http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=29773&start=345

Also, when Josh tells Mysterio "that scrap of film from the canister" he's referring to the the STIES film? And by saying "that scrap of film" can we infer that there are other persons (maybe the kids that were involved in the original filming) who are in possession of the other portions.

Obviously that "scrap," if it is the part that we originally saw on the STIES site, was recognizable to Mysterio, causing so much attention directed at Josh. It's just sad that Josh got "nada" compared with what he had to give up.

Xeno..
Yes. I am wondering why Josh only mentions those 3 items which we didnt find on CL and not the items we did see..Did we not find them on CL?

The scrap of film lets us know that Josh dosent have the entire Super 8 reel but only a scrap that has "Scariest thing I ever saw" written on it..

What would make Mysterioso believe there was something hidden in the cannister by Josh's dad that he needs to find?

Stay tuned..

I like how it is clear now:

Mystero is the Host of STIES,
Josh is guest. So everything we see at STIES is provided by Mystero.

Melodyman;

Yeah, with Mysterio's questioning the cylinder, it was almost as if he was expecting to find something in particular, and why would he expect that unless he had had some involvement, or assurance, that that is where the...dare I say it..."mystery" object would be? Confused

And personally, after this last question and "no-answer" chat session, I'm thinking that Mysterio's a cruel, manipulative person that I wouldn't trust with anything! Crying or Very sad

And why isn't Josh more firm with Mysterio? I'd tell Mysterio to put up, or shut up--don't give him/her/it the time of day unless he pony's up! Evil or Very Mad

Three dots

During the chat Guest 1 mentions the cylinder with three dots --

Guest1: and a metal cyilinder with three dots on it

During the movie shoot in Weirton there were military semi trucks with three dots on them. At first I thought they were just used to transport some of the other military vehicles used in the movie, but...

What does Josh really have of importance?

Melodyman;
I re-looked over your post that said, "The scrap of film lets us know that Josh dosent have the entire Super 8 reel" which I agree, but I think it might be just a stretch to infer that Josh has "but only a scrap that has "Scariest thing I ever saw" written on it.."

I'm not trying to be picky, but I got to thinking (which every now and then is a refreshing change for me Wink ) and recalled that on the Above Top Secret site Josh wrote, "Does anyone know the best way to authenticate something? Like old papers, photos, footage, etc? Are there experts for conspiracy related verifications?"

From that comment I would infer that Josh feels he's in possession of "conspiracy related" items including papers and footage. I'm thinking that he wouldn't have contacted the ATS site if he only had a couple of feet of footage that said STIES.

And what "conspiracy" did Josh think that the items in his possession were related to? He must have had some idea when he requested help.
So, what do we know that Josh has that might be related to this "conspiracy?"

We have the craigslist items:
1. swan
2. clock
3. sled
4. dress
5. pill-box hat and brooch
6. cactus cookie jar
and the items he mentioned to Mysterio as of late:
7. that scrap of film from the canister
8. a picture of some guys in front of a building [that] looks like a hangar
9. and a metal [empty] cyilinder with three dots on it
Mysterio doesn't seem to be that interested in the CL items. It was curious to me that he didn't seem more interested in having Josh unplug the clock, take off the back, and inspect the interior for messages.

What say you?

I don't know if this has any relevance. Searched and found it this morning, thought "well, just a dead end...", had a day of thinking about it and decided to just throw it up here.
The cylinder with three dots... makes him the most interested.
Google for "cylinder three dots" (in german google) brought up : this.
A babylonian/sumerian seal (probably similar to 17/18th century wax seal rings (didn't investigate any further)) having to do with a "moon-god Sin".
Well, moon, Sin, sin... you get my thinking?
The other thing which makes this a little interesting is the fact that the source is of the heritage of a J.P. Morgan. He was a real person. A very heavy capitalist. He'd have been Times' Man Of The Decade back then probably. Besides a lot of other investments he owned a real lot of the overall railroad system back in his days.
I don't say this is relevant but it is kinda intriguing in my opinion.
