I just think nothing else is going to happen, ARG-wise, for Legacy. Too close to the movie launch.

If there is an ARG for future TRON movies, I don't think it'll be Flynn Lives.

hope im not being too straightforward when i say that this would be the lamest end to the game i could think of...very anti climactic. i think they have something big in store for us still, not just "oh hey sorry we had to cut it short, but here are these posters and pins."

i just checked, and i believe that the TDK ARG went until about 2 weeks before the release date.

I think that there will be something a little more obvious for the end of the "flynn lives" ARG, but I agree that we won't see it again after legacy.

42E did the whysoserious campaign right? If memory serves me correctly, their final puzzle was actually titled endgame. I'm not saying the game is over mind you, just stating the facts for discussion.

It did. Moreso, it lead to a game-wide puzzle in which each related webpage was defaced by the Joker and held clues. It ultimately lead to a giveaway of tickets to IMAX theaters about a week before release. If there's anything else coming our way, my guess would be tickets.

Pins

I already posted in the poster thread because I got poster #202, but I also got pins over the weekend. I got the Super Punch-Out and Blue Lightcyle pins...

I'm expecting at least ONE last puzzle or game that would lead to pre-screenings, but don't expect something overly involved and complicated.

Anyone else happen to notice the frontpage of Flynn Lives changed last week?

"Arcade Aid pins have been popping up everywhere – and more are on the way!
Looks like Zack is showing some love to everyone who finished the Challenging Stage, V2. Did you?

These are more than just pins - they're reminders of who we are, what we stand for. We are gamers and we'll wear these pins as a badge of honor. Kevin Flynn blazed a trail by creating the arcade classics that defined a generation... and we will follow his lead wherever it may take us."

Makes me think that if we're to expect more pins that there could be more points on the map to reference.

That was changed right when V2 went up (or shortly after). The 4 pins is all we are going to be receiving from that part of the game. I personally think we're done with the map and the posters are the final piece of this part of the ARG.

Here's my take...

These always end with something that clearly indicates endgame... I can't say whether there'll be special pre-screenings of TL, but AAV2 I'm certain isn't the last we'll see from Flynn Lives.

That said, I don't think there's a related continuation to AAV2 as if we haven't completed this task yet - however, I'm still very curious about why there are differences between the printed posters and the digital image they used in AAV2. That doesn't make sense to me. They have the raw graphic, and one would presume they would print the posters from that. Why are there differences? And not differences that would be simple crops or copy pastes and whatnot... just seems suspicious to me. And of course I have no inkling of what, if anything, it might reveal, but suffice to say my sherlock cap is on and waiting for closure on this little mystery =P

But I do fully expect a big climactic ending to this campaign before the movie is released (much like the defacing of all the in-game websites by the Joker in the WSS campaign as mentioned above)

Zack is really Clu? You heard it here first! Razz

Word missing?

Take a look at the stage 1 and stage 3 on one of the groups of buildings. The word stage is missing from the 2nd building.

Kind of weird to miss that as an artist, you ask me.

Ha! As an artist all I can say is the level of detail in this piece is amazing. I would be shocked to find there weren't minor mistakes in the image. It would boggle the minds of the players if folks knew how many man hours went into something like this. I just finished a graphic for my job that my employers thought should only take a week to draw and ink. It took me 154 hours. Sadly, I'm salary... Sad

Anyways, my point is, something this complex and layered is an incredible amount of work and I'm not surprised at all that there might be minor mistakes here and there.

As a guy who worked in print for 5 years all I can say is there are any number of issues that might have caused there to be a difference in the two. Everything from alternate files for print vs. web to someone accidentally taking an unfinished version to the printer by mistake. Heck, I have even had printers literally NOT print things that were in the actual files before.

I'm not saying it's not a clue, I just personally chalk it up to more of a production mistake than a new puzzle to be solved. Just my 2 cents...

just talked to my sister and she informed me of which pins I received. Count me in the club of Sentry Guard and Lightcycle pins. Amazed that I lucked out and got those two. When I get home Friday I'll post pics. No word yet on a poster, I didn't get to the map until the second day. I'm curious if they've reached their 999 limit, I would think so by now.

Oh I understand that, but it's not like this is a missing building, or a change in colour, or an added block or anything... this is text, lettering, details that are in the grand scheme insignificant... what would prompt their addition or removal at any stage of development? Why would they be added or removed?
There may be the argument that the board was incomplete when the posters went to print, before the game was released online... but then why'd they add text to a couple of buildings in that time?

Likewise, not saying this is most definitely a puzzle needing to be solved, it's just ... very curious ... is all. Confused
