Either way, the Operator never seemed to care much about Jay at all. He never actually stalks him as far as I can think -- someone (probably Tim) brings him to the house in Return and the Operator just flat out ignores him, and then even in Entry #23 he just tilts his head like "Whuh? Why are you here?"

This is a very good point. Wild speculation - there has been a lot of suggestion that much of the Operator's behaviour is down to it not understanding humans properly. I wonder if its almost like it doesn't recognise people as being people - except in a few instances, including Alex. Almost a two-way thing: most people that notice the Operator dismiss it, just another tree, just a tall guy by the road... Somehow Alex saw through that. Similarly, from O's perspective, suddenly there's this person amongst all those creatures that run around making funny noises who's looking straight at him - suddenly Alex is a sentient being, but the rest of us are still scenery.

Not entirely convinced by this, but it has a nice symmetry to it. Also, anyone who can phrase it better than me, please do!

On a different topic, it feels almost like MH is less a story about the Operator, and more about the people who have encountered it. I mean, look at what we're left with:

Jay, holed up miles from home with half of 2010 missing from his memory.
Alex, initially paranoid, now cold and agressive. Some have suggested he even made some sort of deal with the Operator.
Tim, hiding behind a mask with some agenda of his own or for this creature and now a lasting limp.
Brian, fate unknown but with his house trashed it doesn't look good.
Seth, equally unknown but unaccounted for after disappearing in the basement.
Amy, seemingly an innocent bystander drawn in.

Thats quite a list of destruction caused by a creature who seems to do very little other than watch and follow a few people. Whilst I'm sure we'll see him again, there's something fascinating about the human fallout from the supernatural events of 3-4 years ago, that are still being felt.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
The "powers that be" have declared this our off week from Marble Hornets. There's some planning and meetings that needs to be done before we shoot the next entry anyway, so I guess that's what we're doing this week.

Sad Aww...I guess it'll be a bit before the next one?

1) Look at the 3-week gap after Entry #23.
2) Weep at what torture these people are capable of.

Razz

I hope the season picks up after the meeting. I have gotten kind of bored with the Hotel stuff. I hope to see ToTheArk back in action or maybe a borrowed idea from E.H. and maybe bring in The Rake or a similar entity.

All I can think of for a response to this is: no.

I don't want to see that. At all. They've done a good job setting up and working on what they're doing now.

I hope you're trolling. Originality should always be prized.

You want to watch EverymanHYBRID, go watch EverymanHYBRID. Marble Hornets is a superior product, and should stay that way.

I'm not trolling and I don't troll. Personally, I like EMH better but I wouldn't say it was superior to any of them. And, while creativity is good, there is a level of cross pollination with the whole Slendy thing that I think is equally good and desirable.

A lot of people might bite your head off for this statement, so let me just pop in here real quick and try a bit of reason.

While it is true that the expansion of Slenderman across various blogs/vlogs into a semi-structured universe is pretty awesome, you have to remember that Marble Hornets has never been about that. They were the first, and they were created to stand alone, even going so far as to rename Slenderman "The Operator". They've also stated repeatedly that they simply aren't interested in collaborating, that they base everything off their own original concepts.

So that's the basic reason why most on here will totally disagree with you, because it doesn't match the spirit of Marble Hornets for them to do something like mix EMH in there. Hope that was helpful!

The Rake is a public domain creature just like the Slender Man. It could go in Marble Hornets without it being an EMH rip-off.

(I know it almost certainly won't, and I don't particularly want it to, but for what it's worth...)

If you think about it the rake doesn't really fit the MH story and in honesty adding more antagonists only convulates the story to the point of making the series loose its origins. MH already has slendy, masky and TTA(if you dont believe masky and TTA to be the same)

Precisely this.

EMH was able to have such a diverse cast of antagonists because, honestly, they set up for it (and even then, most of the negative comments on their series seem to focus on the story being hard to follow... so...).

Marble Hornets made a point to focus on their two/three main antagonists fairly early on (even though Masky/TTA were late additions, they fit in with the mythos they created). Adding in additional antagonists to follow would be a huge middle finger to the audience at this point considering how invested we all are in this story and how many questions still require answering. 'Oh, you're still confused about this mysterious eldritch horror? Well here's another confusing-as-hell creature to scare and baffle you for the next several entries! Very Happy '

Plus, we've already gotten one new character this season (two if you count ToThePark) who's now caused even more confusion than we thought she would. Speaking of which, wonder when we'll see Jessica again? Question

I am really not trying to stir things up. I just expressed an opinion and did not know that it would cause an issue. I am sorry for that.

I am pretty knew to this whole thing and am just trying to get a feel for it. I have only played one ARG before and it imploded due to hijacks by other players. It kinda turned me off of the whole thing until I discovered what I call the 'Slenderverse'.

No worries! Very Happy We're all entitled to opinions here, but I suppose just as equally we're entitled to having our opinions disagreed with. C'est la vie! ^_^''

Yes, the Slenderverse has some pretty awesome stuff going on in it. It has its fair share of hijackers, but the Big Three and quite a few of the other smaller/newer ARGs are pretty solid and well-maintained. Glad to have you around!

And don't worry - as long as you don't post comments that are mostly for trolling and argument-starting, there's no harm in sharing your thoughts on here. We're an opinionated bunch, and unless you purposely cow-tow to the popular opinion, you're usually guaranteed to find somebody who disagrees with you at some point. Makes for some fun (albeit 'colorful' sometimes) discussions. Smile

And kudos for posting in the right place for this type of thing instead of starting a new thread, too! Very Happy You'd be surprised how many people are guilty of making lots of new unneccessary threads Rolling Eyes Haha!

Thanks for the welcome! As for opinionated I have a forum background in several RPG (Table Top) forums. That bunch can be very opinionated. Wink

I also try to lurk a day or so before my first few posts so I can read guidelines and get a feel for how things operate. Right now, I have been trying to get caught up on a couple of the other games and stay refreshed on MH.
