The whole thing about Jay and Jessica having adjoining rooms sorta squashes my theory a bit. If they knew, or if whoever put them there knew, that they couldn't meet again, then it was sort-of a bad choice to stay, or have them be placed, in adjoining rooms. I'm struggling to really explain the reasons/motives/details regarding how they got to the hotel.

That's why I think they checked in together before bad shit happened. I still also think that Jessica knows what's going on, and she's either intentionally lying to Jay or following a script that she and Jay agreed on beforehand.

The distortion and the holes parts of the theory were more-or-less tacked on at the end as I was writing it. Actually, I sorta came up with the whole thing as I wrote.

it's risky to assume how two people recollecting the same experience will react and bond depending on how well they know eachother.

How well they know each other doesn't determine how they would react and bond. How well they know each other determines the likelihood that they would talk again after the encounter. In Jay and Jessica's experience, they forgot they had ever known each other because they had met not long before the actual encounter itself (assuming there is going to be one). Tim and Brian were friends and next-door neighbors for who knows how long.
That wasn't initially clear to me from your first post. But you brought up my counter-argument.

I am too, which is why I suggest waiting for another entry with Jessica in it.

Anyone else notice the fact that Slendy has never killed anyone or made them disappear permanently? Slendy may have teleported the dead body, but Slendy didn't kill the guy. Alex did. This is also a great fact to support the theory that Alex is Slendy's instrument.

Slendy seems to be a pacifist of sorts. He can't do actual harm himself, but he can attach himself to a person (Alex) to carry out his wishes. Almost like a hypnotic intimidating parasite. He only intervenes if any harm comes to his host, or if it's feeding time.

I haven't posted in one of the official threads like this yet, so I figure I might as well share my own views about Alex.

Memory loss is a strong theme in the series, so it's my view that Alex is definitely not in full control of his actions, but it wasn't always that way. At the beginning of the Marble Hornets filming, he truly did not seem to know what was going on at first, and after a while it had him scared and running. Eventually, it had him frustrated and paranoid as well. But more importantly, things began to happen that he could not explain. He probably watched the tape from Entry 51 sometime after he had filmed it, and only at that time realized what had happened. He most likely did not remember the incident at all.

It is also my theory that he started filming himself after that moment. It was at that time that he realized things were happening to him without him remembering, and he started keeping a camera on himself at all times so that if it happened again, he could view the tape and see what occurred. Eventually, many things started happening during his own blackout periods, some of which he was probably shocked at himself for, which is eventually why he wanted to abandon the project altogether and move far away. He most likely kept that tape because it was the one he was most afraid of anyone else seeing. He probably also considered burning it several times (wasn't there a lighter in the drawer with it?), but couldn't bring himself to do so.

Eventually, when his past caught up with him, his first thought was to turn to Jay for help, but as things quickly escalated, he started falling under the Operator's influence more and more. It's difficult to say if the current "Alex" is even the same person anymore; he might now be in a perpetual "blackout" state and remember nothing of it once he emerges. But I definitely see that he has descended further into his Operator-induced darkness as the series progressed, and I don't believe at all that he started this way.

Makes the me think the Operator has kind of radioactive field. The radioactive field also makes people cough get sick or pass out. He could also make this field reflect light making himself invisible or phase by the walls or prehaps appear to move by teleporting. The Operator has telepathoc powers well he appears to have no mouth so how does he breath or talk or does he make his appearance by holo devices now.

I said something quite similar on the previous page. To be accurate, though, we can't say "never", because we just don't know one way or another. We're still missing Seth and Amy, and perhaps Sarah and Brian (if Brian isn't Hoody). It's quite possible that The Operator killed or permanently disappeared any or all of them. We don't know what The Operator did with Bruce's body; he may have caused that to permanently disappear, along with erasing all memory of Bruce's existence. All those loose ends make it impossible to determine what The Operator can and can't do.

Personally i think Alex IS the operator, and slendy is an object of his mind, or his other form. He doesn't realize this at first, that's why hes scared of slendy, but when he does, he starts to do these things without question and he's not scared of him anymore. The maskies all know this, and they are, i guess, trying to take him out. Jay would be someone they are trying to get on their side.

Also, alex being the operator could explain how when he killed the guy in the tunnel, he used slendy to clean up the mess Wink

Maskies/pack mentality

Sorry beforehand, this is on my phone.

So I finally had my fiancé watch MH and he had this really interesting theory I haven't seen on the forum yet...

The maskies have a pack mentality as they work under the Operator. Alex, obviously, is the new alpha, which is why he does not have to wear a mask. Something happens around 35 possibly, and the reason that Alex hurts Tim is a basic dominance squabble. This happens a lot in packs of dogs and even some lions: someone gets out of line and the higher up has to fight the challenger to restore order. Alex, obviously, won the fight. But Tim is now very upset with the leader for staying the leader (that part he wasn't very clear on). But what about 45 when they ran away after the screen tear, the Operator, the true alpha even above Alex, had to put EVERyONE in their place including Alex. Along the lines of "You all stop this right now, grow up!" was his example. However, since he clearly favors Alex, he didn't have to repmnd him as much.

I don't fully agree with this idea, but the Maskies ha e always seemed animalistic to me, so I can understand where this idea stems from.

Seth first appeared in Entry 9, I believe, as the cameraman. He returned briefly in Entry 22 as the cameraman while he and Alex explored the creepy basement, until they were set upon by the Operator. Alex listed him as "gone" in his little monologue there at the end, and while that's certainly no indication (Tim and Jay are still here, after all, and Alex listed them too) he's widely presumed to be dead or TTA.

I think that might be it. He wasn't a huge character, only made that one onscreen appearance.

Based on food's theory, maybe the tapes were put in both jay and jessica's rooms so they could find them, and remember everything by themselves...
