So, you've all got me watching hellsing.

Not that i'm much one for anime, but.. nazi vampires? who can say no.

I'll figure out if i should thank or blame you later.

Ultimate or Regular Hellsing?

Uh. Regular.

First two episodes, now i'm going to watch flight of the living dead.

Because i haven't seen that movie in a while.

I can't decide on hellsing. And you're all about to tell me i'm watching the wrong one, probably.

Regular was okay, good way to get your teeth wet. However, ULTIMATE(the OVA) is way more awesome. And brutal.

agreed!!! i started watching the regular series, but it was moving too slowly for me so i decided to give the OVA a try. and hoo boy. i fell in love. hard. i am a hardcore alucard fangirl. and sir integra fangirl. gah, so amazing...

Pip will always be my favorite. Well, after Alucard, but it's hard not to love that crazy bastard

Gotta say, the only anime I really liked and still love is Samurai Champloo. That series is totally amazing.

Seconded, after a friend of mine had turned me over to is when it came out on Fuze (music channel), though I steal her box set from time to time, haha

What kind of music do you usually like? Let me take this chance to plug Daft Punk, one of my all time bands

No particular kind, which makes recommendations hard. I haven't listened to Daft Punk in ages, but maybe should try them again. I remember liking what I heard.

I loved Underworld's earlier stuff, like their more recent stuff OK enough. Was a big Rufus Wainwright fan but have kind of cooled on him, now mostly only listen to cuts from his first two albums. Love a lot of showtunes and the jazz standards, especially with female vocalists--I could listen to anything by Nina Simone all day. Devendra Banhart, Rilo Kiley, just...random stuff, lol.

Okay... three recommendations:
First, a soft-ball over the plate: Abbey Lincoln. Start with "Blue Monk."

Second, modern, great voice should be right in your wheelhouse: Brett Dennen. Start with "Heaven."

Third, classic, but challenging to those who aren't ready for her: Karen Dalton. Star with "Katie Cruel."

Thanks, Mira! Those were great.

Here's hoping Didz's new little growler is coming along nicely.

Are you psychic, or am I that transparent? I'd never heard of any of those three, just sampled them, and they're all perfect.

So, even though I didn't mention my love for Gillian Welch and Appalachian folk music, how'd you guess?
