Okay, I tried changing my uF email, it said it sent a reconfirmation email, but it hasn't come. Can anyone tell me what to do? XD Right now I'm locked out of my account.

I didn't GET the email. >.<

Like, it's been....6 hours now, and nothing. I checked spam and everything. And I know it's the right email, because when I tried to register, it ssaid it was already taken. :/

Sorry for the double post, but eh. It happens.

So I've been playing around with ideas for a Vince-centric fic, and I came up with this as the original lead-in. Since writing this piece, I've decided to make it gen and not slash, and am now going in a completely different direction but I thought you guys might like to see it and give some feedback on what y'all did and didn't like. The new version is completely different but it follows the same style and I need to know if it works or not.

Also, in regards to replica, I'm going to give myself a solid kick in the ass and aim for Friday night as posting day for Chapter 2.

So, yeah. My derpy little fic excerpt. (It used to be a break-up fic but then I realized how retarded that was. Its completely different now.)

There never was a "them," or an "us." Cute plurals never applied because there was never anything to apply them to. They were Evan and Vinnie or Vinnie and Evan and that was as far as it went and he was fine with that because at least they got to stay friends, and that's a better deal than a lot of people get.

It reminds him of why they (Evan and Vinnie, but not that kind of "they") started this up in the first place. Because they were both sick of being alone.

Or maybe it was just him, and Evan was obliging him or wanted to get off. It was a -- what did they call it? -- a fuck buddy deal. Something like that. He doesn't like thinking about it like that because it reduces Evan to an object, like a sick blow up doll, but it's true all the same.

It's not like they made promises.

That's what he consoles himself with when Evan ends it. We never made any promises. And he has to give credit where it's due: Evan doesn't tell him over the phone or in a text message, and he doesn't do it in front of Jeff (which is probably the biggest blessing in the whole thing, that Jeff never found out.) He just looks Vinnie in the eye and says, "I'm done."

Vinnie only blinks back at him, the question of whether Evan wants to come back to his place still fresh out of his mouth, and just replies "Sure, whatever."

He goes to sleep alone that night, wondering what he's going to do with the clothes that don't belong to him. They're sitting in a stack on the corner of his dresser, washed and folded, waiting to be worn.

He turns his back on them and dreams.

They're still there when he wakes up in the morning. Their presence feels inexplicable, because Evan isn't with him and Evan will not be with him again, not like that, and that's when he tells himself -- we never made promises.

The buzzing of his phone's alarm startles him before he can do anything stupid. He gets ready for work instead.

His mother asks him if he's alright when he comes downstairs. He hopes it doesn't become a theme.

He's honest enough to admit -- to himself -- that he's started avoiding Evan and Jeff both, just a little. It could be resentment and maybe it is in part, but the truth is more likely that he's a stubborn asshole that doesn't want to admit that he feels hurt. Or at least that's what Jeff says after a solid month of this behavior and corners him just as he's getting off work.

"That's bullshit," he says, looking around hoping that someone will save him from this conversation. Why the hell are they talking about his feelings, anyway?

"It's true," Jeff replies, folding his arms. "What did Evan do?"

Vince sees a potential escape route and takes it. It means leaving Jeff behind, but he doesn't feel remotely bad about that.

But it does bring him up against the avoidance issue, which he must admit was a bit of a dick move on his part. It's just that he doesn't know what to do about it, just like he doesn't know what to do with the clothes on his dresser. The correct path is obvious -- give the clothes back, stop being a dipshit and while you're at it get over yourself -- but he freezes up when he tries to call Jeff and Evan's clothes never make it to his car in spite of the many resolutions he makes to the contrary.

 		It is a gray, icy, vague and moody morning and so once again I force dated, moody music on the OT thread while struggling to meet my work deadline.

This is from 1989 and yes, it's a bit 80s, but it's also Kate Bush who was always ahead of the curve and still is, particularly in terms of production, content and subject matter. This creepy little ballad is not only eerily prescient of today's online society, but I think perhaps in some ways of the ARG symbiosis between creator/performer and user as well, which Jeff has referenced in the past. Anyway, the song always makes me think of things around here.

Accordingly, someone else sees it this way as well. "Deeper Understanding" is being updated and re-released as part of Kate Bush's next album soon.

Once again, Luipaard, I enjoy your style. It seemed a little different in style (but I only know of your style from Replica, so...) but it works pretty well. It may just be because it's a little excerpt, but I thought the scene (the first one, as I'm aware the second one is just cut off) was a little short. It could be fleshed out a little, in my opinion.

If I may ask, what pairing are you re-writing it as?

Blood is everywhere, warm and sticky and salty-metallic sweet. It coats everything. The light makes it shine a beautiful, ghastly red. HABIT grins, a startling white against the red everywhere. Laughter bubbles from his throat, hoarse and raucous and completely insane. It is dark and sharp, like shards of broken glass. And he loves it. He loves the smell of death that hung in the air and sound of air rushing from lungs one last time. It is fucking beautiful and he wouldn't trade it for the world.

He wipes the sweat from his forehead, leaving a streak of stickiness across his brow. This just makes him smile wider. Every death is unique and he likes having reminders, even if they are temporary. It wouldn't do to forget his hard work, after all.

Slowly, he licks the blood from his hand. It's sweet and warm and fucking perfect. He laughs again and gets back to work. There is so much to do before the moon sets.

 		@Cor, thanks! You are absolutely right, the first scene needs a lot of fleshing out. If I was really going to use it I would need to go over how Evan and Vince got together (but not too much detail because that was going to be the heart of the story -- how they got together and then what drove Evan to end everything) and I would spend more time on meaningful interaction between Vince and his mother.

If I may ask, what do you find stylistically different between this excerpt and replica? I'm taking a survey, very unofficial. Wink Thanks for your feedback!

Woah. Really short, but I like it. A lot. Definitely packs a punch, and it describes the perfect amount. Fantastic~
