Okay, how do you explain the entire slenderman thing to people? i keep tripping overmyself, trying to explain from the SA post and then some.

also, it's hard to explain ARGs to someone who has no clue. They really have to be experienced

I can't help you with explaining ARGs.

But to explain Slender Man all you need to do is link them to here.

Now, i just need to figure out how to insert hotlinks into real life conversations.

(not meant as sarcastic as it sounds)

Well then basically you just print that out then hand it to him/her or read it to him/her.

I usually say, "It's like a choose your own adventure book, but YOU are the character, and it actually sort of effects the others in the adventure, and it happens IRL, but it's not REALLY irl, so it's like real life but more like a story or a really cool videogame but not."
XD

I usually say it's like an RPG game but IRL with actual people...

I usually explain the ARG I'm following at the time then try to answer any questions about the characters. I just explain that it's a type of game which uses clues and puzzles but uses reality as a platform, that there's various ways of following one such as blogs, youtube videos, twitter etc.

I generally say something cheesy about it just being a really in-depth, interactive series. (And then move onto say LARP meets action-adventure meets the Matrix.)

I tend to just explain the Mythos as "A series of collaborative online horror stories". Not entirely accurate, but it's easier than detailing everything. If they show interest, I'll tell them more, but usually I just leave it at that, or tell them to youtube marble hornets.

That's actually pretty good.

I'm terrible at explaining anything but the most simple things, because I always make things ten times more complex in my mind than they have to be. I've started just telling people that Slender Man is the culmination of man's greatest fears, in the form of a tall, faceless man in a business suit. With tentacles. ARGs, I describe as "real-life video games."

I tried to explain EMH to my best friend, but she just got frustrated at my poor job & started watching the videos herself... then promptly got even more confused.

I may just start explaining the whole thing as 'if confusion and creepiness had a kid, and that kid was your youtube penpal'

I may have to start using that, instead of, "Well, they were making a fitness series, and they had a fake Slendy, then the real Slendy showed up..."
Because I am inevitably cut off with, "But there IS NO real Slender Man."
Bitches don't even know.

That's when you laugh nervously, glance behind your back quickly, and say, "Yeah, there is no real Slender Man. He's all fake. That's what he is. Fake. I.... Um... I have to go."
And then you run.

I'd never explain that anyway.. i mean, it's early in the series for a plot twist, but it's one of the things that should be experienced rather then told.

@ das omega i'd say 'it's better if you think that'.. and just leave on that note.

I think anyone wanting to be introduced to Slender Man needs to see the original SA thread or Marble Hornets first.

EMH is really designed for those who are already familiar with Slendy IMO.

I actually did something similar last week. Minus the running away. But it lead to a full minute of stunned silence in a room with 6 other people.

@SiticHybrid - The only ones I've told about it are my closest friends, and they all think it's stupid, anyways. Not like I'm gonna ruin anything when they're not gonna watch it. Ever. Even at the height of boredom, my best friend only watched the first three videos.
