Well, perhaps you're right, and those are inicials, perhaps for a military project, and the TROGL-marked guy is the leader of that project?..

Just curious if you think I was on the right or wrong track with the Image ID analysis I posted. No one has commented and I really wanted to know if what I figured out was of any value.

Quite smart really, best shot so far!

Image ID Idea

simplicity-
The departments you found that correspond to the first two numbers in the image IDs make sense to me. I don't know if the idea about the rescue squadron is accurate, but pararescuemen are supposed to be among the top medical and rescue experts in the US military – so the 41 Health Service and 42 Biomedical departments tie in to this idea. I'm guessing this ARG is going to deal with some type of unconventional event, so the 07 Special Investigations department works. And the 23 Supply Office department goes with just about any kind of operation.

The middle three letters being initials also makes sense – unless that would be giving too much info away for a top security unit. As far as the number and letters in the last three spaces of the alphanumeric code go – I can't find anything that seems to fit. I'm still checking into it. Let us know if you come up with anything.

Whether or not the pararescuemen are involved in this ARG, they sure are fascinating. If anyone's interested, here's a link to the USAF website's pararescue fact sheet: http://www.af.mil/information/factsheets/factsheet.asp?id=177

.DAT files

Just an observation, to date we've been able to access every single DAT file except this new one:

EXPCNL.DAT

I've tried exec, print and reenter, no joy....

Still, is a bit odd...

Ruler

I'm really intrigued by the ruler. The cards line up with the mm increments perfectly, they're not just lying randomly between two numbers. Even the slightly rotated one (RSOF02) is lined up. The only minor exception is the one marked TROGL, which seems to be half way between the marks.

Maybe this is solely so that you can line then up easily. I'm guessing we'll get another clue as to how to use those numbers.

I'm new to all this, so I'm not sure how obscure the clues are, or how often the clues are given out. I've looked back at everything that's come out, but in retrospect I can't really get a good idea of how fast paced the game is.

I agree, gorbok -- these ruler numbers probably are meaningful. This is probably something we should be looking into more. The information on the ID tags isn't necessarily something that would easily be manipulated by mysterio. But if mysterio is the one who placed the tags on the ruler than he or she could very likely be using the arrangement to send some hidden message.

Re: Ruler

They could also control the Image ID, since that was hand written and part of the photo. The ruler measurements could relate to how to decipher the Image ID. And maybe "TROGL" is a clue as to how that deciphering works.

I'm offering a lot of questions and not a lot of answers here unfortunately. I also realise now that the ruler measurements can't be metric, because that would make the IDs 2.9cm wide.

I think it is metric cause that isn't 1/8ths - The IDs are small.

Gorbok;

Welcome, if I didn't already do so--just curious, are you from Europe, or England?

Regarding the placement of the ID badges, it just seems that if Mysterio is trying to convey some message to Josh via the placement of the badges on the ruler, he knows WAAAAY more about Josh's ability to decypher/decrypt clues than what we've seen about Count Coelacanth.

Josh has already let Mysterio know how he feels about games and cryptic messages; in his chat he states "I don't know who you are but I'm getting really tired of these games. If you actually know anything, come out and say it. Otherwise I'm not going to respond to your cryptic messages."

So, if Mysterio is behind STIES, and the position (as well as the content) of the badges is crucial and conveys some message, I'm not convinced that posting of the images on STIES was for Josh's benefit.

So, if not for Josh, then for whom were the badges posted? Does Mysterio have some colleague(s)/superior(s) that their posting was intended, and if so, how did he acquire them? Or vice versa, if we're looking at Mysterio's (if he has them, and is beholden to them) colleague('s)/superior('s) postings, what is the intent?

Too many questions, not enough answers... Confused

Thanks. I'm from New Zealand. Hence the assumption about the metric system, and the occasional 'u' that accompanies my o's.

That means I might get some clues ahead of time (if it is in any way related to time zone), so I might be able to give you a heads up.

[OFF TOPIC]

gorbok;

Actually I was curious because of the "s" in realise, and didn't think you were a yank.

I'd love to visit New Zealand one day--from the vids I've seen, it is such a unique place. Had some friends who came over to the states and she told me one of the greatest things she ever received from her hubby was a clothes dryer. I guess they lived in an area that was so rich in soil nutrients that it would grow nearly anything, and they had sheep, bu the biggest complaint was how long it would take for her clothes to dry.

Anyway, the states decades ago had some goal to go metric, and apart from the soda bottles coming in 2 liter increments, it seems like that's about as far as we've come! Shocked

How many of you remember ZORK? I know I'm showing my age but this is what this game is reminding me of. You get a clue and travel in the dark and hope you stumble on the answer. Kindda fun if you ask me.

TROGL I spaced it out on the alphabet as code T=1 R=2, etc. But no real pattern discernable. Like solving a cypher. Figure out the phrase by breaking down the numerical or letter value. I'm not having any luck.

Not sure how our Mystic Dude thought these 4 badges would help Josh out.. but it hasnt helped us out very much...

So far, nothing he has sent Josh seems to have made any sense to him.. and these 4 badges just add to the confusion..Just dont see how any of these files could help anyone figure out anything..

and a month between contacts sure dosent seem to get ol Josh fired up much..

yawn....

Hmmm...

Here is my thoughts on TROGL...

Trogl was a man, or...maybe he was a dragon man. Uh, maybe he was just a Dragon... But he was still TROGL!

Mysterio and STIES

If Mystery-O is indeed the one who posted the ID Tags, does that mean he also posted everything else involved with Braegen? The audio Files.. the newspaper.. the sound bytes..etc.. I have a hard time believing this for some reason. Granted the Chat was between the two, does that mean that they were both chatting via this system? If so, how are the two systems connected? they didnt have internet back then...

Sorry for all of the open endedness..
