It's real, real nice of the sponsors to replace freight-damaged articles.
But the intent and custom is that there be only one of a certain number in existence and their replacement is out of the norm. Most numbered runs are completed up front and then the molds are struck or whatever duplication process used was disabled/destroyed and from that point on, all bets are off. If you get one damaged in transit and the sellers feel charitable or responsible, they may replace the item; But it'll be with one of a higher number. I applaud payote's destroying of poster #105 to preserve the intent of the artist (that there be only one "105/999" and not two "105/1029 or so").

This is coming from someone who pays real, actual money for signed, first-editions and numbered, limited items. I'm also one who feels that APs shouldn't be sold; Though I do own several Kinkade AP retouches (That I had Tom sign, personally, at his gallery).

It's not the item that is numbered, it the user who complete it. I don't see a value to those numbered items, except to the fact that it identify myself along the others. I could get a new ID cart with the same number if I damage it.

I'm #228 of #999, pleased to meet you.

Except that its totally not the case. These numbers weren't assigned to users, they don't apply to anything else, and bear no relationship other than when they completed the puzzle and IF they are going to get a poster. All other Flynn Lives members do not have such a 'number'.

Thus, there's no analogy.

My personal feelings about my poster are that I don't want a replacement. It's got some creases that are only noticeable in the lower black area. I can touch those up with a Sharpie and no one would ever know. I got my one poster and I would never trade it for anything. Posters that have major creases that mess up the picture or tears in them, I can see getting a replacement. Other than for that reason I don't think replacements should be done. This is of course my feelings about it and I'm not about to foist my opinion on anyone just to "prove a point" or come down on anyone. If you felt a replacement was necessary, okay. I think it should just be the 999 posters and any that were replaced should be made known as replaced. Either with a marking out of the number or something like that, destruction is up to the individual.

Anyone have the dimensions handy? Or the best known way of framing the poster? I know there was some discussion about this earlier.

36" W by 19.5" H. In other words, AWKWARD! (24x36 or 27x40 are standard poster sizes)

Deleted redundant answer. Don't know why the fora let me get it in without a warning.

Got My Poster

Didn't think I would get one the way things were running on the poster numbers but I got number 944 here in Texas. PERFECT CONDITION!

Thanks 42E and this forum for posting those answers that I was having trouble with.

You guys were having trouble with MYST but that was one of the first ones I got.

I had NO IDEA what Professor Layton was, that one was trouble.

I finished around 10:30 central standard time FYI.
