[ABANDONED BLOG] Damnation of Memory
99% sure this is new Slender blog

Damnation of Memory

I found this the other day, posted it in the list thread, thought I'd give it a thread too. No specific mention of our slender friend yet, but I'm pretty sure it's headed that way. Doesn't look particularly exciting yet but might pick up.

Well if Chase from Stopping Lights is following, then it's likely.

Maybe they left an OOG comment and then thought better of it.

I'm trying to work out whether Empty Eyes is an annoying gamejack or just annoying in general. Mark's response to her about typing like a thirteen-year-old is pretty excellent.

I can't stop myself from repeating the thread title in a Russian-English accent.

Colour me easily amused. >.>

EmptyEyes jumps into almost every blog she can find with a creepy comment like that, followed in the next post by the claim that it was her alternate personality. Every bloody time. Rolling Eyes

So, am I alone in annoyance of how quickly this jumped into Slender Man territory?

Pff, oh man, that must get irritating fast. If I ever do a slenderblog, my biggest fear will be someone like her popping up three entries in and telling my characters dramatically exactly what's after them. Rolling Eyes

For someone who'd never heard any of the stories before, Mark sure is quick to accept the existence of a supernatural monster based on reading some people's blogs on the internet. I hope he deals with it in some unexpected way rather than saying "slenderman, huh? guess I'll grab my camera and head out to the woods".

Have to admit, though, I do enjoy his mid-sentence freakout. I'm a sucker for well done stream-of-consciousness writing.

I looked at her blog, it's an interesting premise (MPD, one personality hallowed the other not...has potential) but the writing is pretty uninspired.

Yeah I'd imagine as a writer that would be pretty annoying. You don't want to just ignore the comments, because you want to try and let people be involved, that's the point of the game. Buuuuuut that could be bothersome for sure.

Is being hallowed something to do with the Core Theory that gets mentioned now and then? D'you know where I can read about that? 'Cause I've tried Googling both concepts a few different ways, as well as White Elephants (if I'm right that that's the blog it originated in?), but I just get pointed back to references on these forums.

That may be an incredibly newbie-ass question, but I'm curious. XD

No, it's just a term for Masky/totheark style characters who are either Slender Man's mind control, or who willingly serve them. There are lots of other terms (Agents, Husks, Slenderproxies, etc.) but hallowed is the one that M coined.

Seems too obvious. For a while I really wanted to do a blog by a guy who moves states to live with his girlfriend, and he immediately gets all the Slendy symptoms. Like, within three blog posts he's kind of ill and coughing and he can't remember stuff and he's seen this man who's slender and wears a suit and has no face. And he's calling him Slendy. And some dude hacks his blog and is all 'HEISCOMINGRAWRHEISWATCHING'. And the blog guy has researched Slendy and he's saying 'I know he's this tentacled guy who takes kids, it's happened to a whole bunch of people, maybe he's following me'.
And then one day he's all 'I've seen him, he's out in the woods, I'm gonna go out with a baseball bat and cream him, update when I get back' like Ted's Caving Story or the Dionaea House.
Then the next day he'd update again after everyone in the comments has bitched him out for being too terrible and obvious, and complain that he was just trying to write a fun and interesting story, and that they're all killjoys. Then the 'real' fun would start. And it would become more subtle from there.

Then EMH ripped my mind off.

Point is, people are being too obvious. Also there's getting to be loads of average Slendyblogs. Seems kinda like overkill. But hey, if you're enjoying it, ot's all good.[/i]
