Guys, I watched the 6 part playthrough (just for the cutscenes), and I can tell you, that just by watching it, to AVOID IT.

Read TRON: Betrayal instead. This game is a movie game disguised as a standalone action/adventure.

Well, to be fair, I think they both interconnect with each other well. No need to bash the darn thing when it's not even out in the US yet. However, I DID notice one error in particular:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
In Evolution, the leader of the ISOs is named Radia, while in the Betrayal graphic novel she's apparantly called Ophelia (I'm pretty darn sure, since we see here show up dressed EXACTLY like "Radia" towards the end of the second part of the comic). Guess Marvel's kinda to blame for that mistake, since the guys who worked on Evolution were working a lot closer with Joseph Kosinski and company.

On the other hand, there's two things regarding both stories in relation to Legacy, one that I'm sure on and one that I'm not exactly sure on:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
* We now know that Abraxis, the villain in Evolution, was really a former ISO (don't recall his real name, which Radia/Ophelia mentions) corrupted by Clu somehow for Clu to use to turn the other, normal ISOs into a scapegoat for him to use in order to cover up his own misdeeds. However, could it be also possible that Clu managed to do this inadvertently through the poisoning of the Sea of Simulation at the end of Betrayal? After all, the SoS was poisioned by an isomorphic VIRUS. What do you guys think?

* Also, I am 100% sure that Tron did NOT die when he sacrificed himself to save Flynn from Clu's attempt to be rid of both of them. Why do I think this? Well, considering that Joseph Kosinski and the team behind Tron Legacy have confirmed that Tron himself WILL have a role in the new movie, I'm not too surprised that his appearance in Legacy will surprise all character involved, especially Clu, Quorra and Flynn (remember, they're the ones who believe Tron is dead, as of Evolution). However, there IS another reason. According to an insider source I know who has seen a good two-thirds of the movie, I can officially say that RINZLER AND TRON ARE DEFINITELY ONE AND THE SAME! I can't say the specifics how this is possible as it kinda spoils the fun in guessing it, but I can definitely say you'll figure it out easily enough....

Thoughts guys?

I knew Rinzler and Tron were the same way back when it was first discussed over in the "Is Rinzler Tron?" thread. It's quite obvious to mega Tron fans that no other program besides Tron has the "T' symbols on their chest. "Betrayal" just all the more confirmed that Tron was Rinzler, showing off the same suit designs and circuitry lighting for both characters. Also, the back of the Deluxe Rinzler action figure ties it all together with the short bio, saying that Rinzler is the best at the games and what not.

On another note, this game looks pretty frustrating and I only wanted to get it to watch the cut scenes. Now I don't have to thanks to the previous post. And I do agree with MOVIELORD101 about the character's names, but I also wanted to add that I think the story is missing something.
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Quorra says that she saw Clu and a black guard kill Flynn and Tron. We (as the player) never see this happen, yet Quorra says that both she and we witnessed it when speaking to Zuse and Radia/Ophelia. Then when we finally do see the "murders" it's not a full cutscene it's more like quick stillframe images that jump around and you never see what Quorra described.
I recommend avoiding this game as well. It doesn't bridge any gaps, "Betrayal" does a much better job. If they wanted to bridge the gap, the game would've picked up where Betrayal left off...

Thoughts from those who watched the play-through vids?

I could care less about the plot problems as long as the gameplay's good, and from what I've heard that is the case, so please chill guys. You can't just simply boycott a game just because the story has plotholes in it!

Sounds like there are definitely differing opinions about the game. I guess I'll know for sure on December 7th

Due to snow round our place I'm still waiting for my copy to arrive.

Is the gameplay really that frustrating? Tron 2.0 had its moments in gameplay especially one point where I'm meant to be protecting Ma3a from the ICP's forces and repeatedly failing to derez them sufficently.

I'm hoping Evolution will be fun to play.

No game is without it's challenges and trails. If you simple hate or refuse to play a game because you consider it hard you shouldn't be playing video games to begin with.

when I played it at SDCC a few months ago, the Anon combat was pretty good, not perfectly polished, but much better than that review. The light cycles seems a bit more kludgy, and I was hoping they would polish that more by now. Having tried that then, though (I spent maybe 10 minutes with it), I preordered the collector's edition. I'll be sure to put a full review up as soon as I start playing it on the 7th.

I'll look at the Wii edition.

For Kevin with the connection problems, you have to "forward ports" on your router. Go to portforward.com, look up your router, and it tells you how to configure it for xbox live.

Actually Eolith, after consulting the xbox live online help, all I needed to do was reset my router and BINGO!!

Haven't played anything online YET, but my gamertag is GOPHER0001. Will be wandering into GameStop to pre order (or see what kind of value I can get for a used PS2 and about 20 games)

There's a difference between a challenge and control problems.

Is fighting with the camera while trying to move exciting for you?
What about trying to always vault over things for health, or to run onto walls, where the preset camera makes it nearly impossible? That fun for you?
Trust me, if this game didn't have so many control problems with it, it would not be hard. It's a typical movie game, and I only needed to watch a walkthrough to change my mind from being optimistic.

I've played Tron Evolution over the weekend in which i'm about half way through the story mode.

I'm gonna chip in with my two pennith worth.

There does appear to be something conflicting between Evolution & Betrayal, but as I said, i'm only half way through the Evolution story mode so i'll let it ride until it's completed.

General gameplay does playout as quite an average generic run of the mill 3rd person game.
I think it's fair to say that if I were to take away all the 'Tron-ness' I probably wouldn't have gone for it.
Issues do exist with controls and camara angles IMOA, but it only rears it's head during particular battles (for me).

BUT, if your into Tron (why would you be here anyway Laughing ) you should really enjoy it.

Everything looks georgous! You deerezz dudes with discs! You drive lightcycles and tanks! It has the occasional wink and nod to the classic. And good music. What more do you want?

I'm not disapointed in spending my £40.

If your a Tron fanboy/girl give it a punt? and i'll see you on the grid?

Went ahead and ordered the collector's edition from TRU a few minutes ago. Today, if you go through TRU.com you save $10 off of $100 when you use your mastercard to pay...

I played Tron Evolution for a few hours tonight and im not disappointed.
The controls are not as smooth as id like them to be but it didnt stop me from enjoying the game.
I personally found the camera angles not a problem as i found myself manualy moving it around quite a bit to take in the look of the city.My opinion on the camera angles could change, but so far so good.
I was impressed by the level of detail to the city, you really had a feeling of being in there and light sourcing was good. I cant complain about the graphics at all,it all looked very crisp.
For people who are only slightly into Tron, they maybe better off looking for a better quality game with the massive choice that is out there, but if like me your really looking forward to the film, this game is worth a look. Rent the game if you arnt sure about getting it.
Im happy i purchased it Smile

Rather addictive and very impressive.

The gameplay puts me in mind of Mirror's Edge cause of the free-running and the action is very similar to the Force Unleashed.

It's not an impossible game. Missed jumps and been derezed frequently by from falling. The energy jumps and health strips are great for keeping rolling.

The jump puzzle to action to jump puzzle path might irritate people. The plot is fun any big Tron fan and it essentially follows on from the end of Betrayal.

I'm getting used to the jump dynamics and looking forward to seeing where the plot leads.
