Which MH season do you prefer?
A totally original post...

Ok, so hear me out here. I'm thinking of doing a slender vlog sometime in the near future. I have all the characters and plot lines thought out. Now I need to know which kind of style of vlog you prefer. I could ask this in pretty much any slender man thread out there, but since mh is the biggest vlog and their episodes are the most varied I'm posting it here.

All the seasons are very differently styled; season 1 - short videos, more narration, pretty basic video tearing; season 2 - more focus on the characters/story/proxies and less on slenderman; and season 3 - long, drawn-out episodes, barely any narration, HQ distortion. All I need to know is, which kind do you prefer and why?

I'm trying to make this slender vlog as amazing as possible, so all replies are greatly appreciated.

Thankyou

I really liked Season 1 for the quick choppy videos with the obviously lower quality camera. It really felt like 2006 in the videos. But I also enjoy the HQ distortions this season, they look fantastic.

I'd have said Season One or Two...

...right up until entry 65. That entry is the classic "wham episode" and suddenly propels the third season forward at the speed of light.

My 2 cents? Do what feels best and adapt as you see the results. And perhaps avoid long videos for the sake of long videos (I recently tried to watch the SlenderSim saga, but with the videos often up at 10, 11 minutes without good reason it feels like a chore).

[caveat: I've never run an ARG or a Slender Vlog nor am I likely to do so. When/if I make a contribution to the genre, it'll be written. But I've been an enthusiastic watcher of Slendervlogs since discovering Marble Hornets]

Can't wait to see your take on the Slenderverse!

Can't choose. Every single one is significantly different to the other, so choosing one, for me at least, would be choosen a season by parametres which do not apply to another.

All of them were great. But i must say i felt more scared watching S1, maybe because there werent much explanations and you couldn't know exactly what was going on; the unknown is a huge factor.

Season 1. The size of the videos meant they could be put out more irregularly. You could (conceivably) have several in a day, or a long one after a few weeks. It was also interesting to see the mystery unfold in puzzle pieces and, importantly, The Operator doing stuff, threatening stuff.

That said, it's a bit early to judge Season 3, and there are definitely some great aspects of the other season. In particular, showing what happened when Tim got Operator-napped was, hands down, the best moment in the series thus far.

I think a mix of season 1 and 2. The shorter, more mysterious videos of season 1 were really creepy but if they just kept doing that for all three seasons it would have gotten old and predictable after a while. I liked season 2's jump scares and more focus on story but I think it should also include narration when appropriate and not just leave slenderman out so much.

I'd say season 1 entries 1-14 was the best part of MH. It was fresh, new and mysterious. If the series had ended with the operator walking though the door and Alex bleeding I'd have been satisfied and terrified. What we've seen since then has been great, but I think the tone of MH has shifted a lot and some of the original appeal has been replaced with character development etc. I suppose it's almost impossible to keep the mystery going at the same time as developing the plot.

Season 1 of Marble Hornets was great because it was mysterious, the videos were short and came more frequently, and it was very creepy. I would say that's a good season to look at if you're trying to get people interested.

Some advice I would keep in mind:

- Try to make videos on the shorter side at first. Keeps people interested and is less overwhelming for you to make.

- Make it mysterious, creepy, eerie, etc.

- Try not to copy MH too much. Be original.

- Do not overcomplicate things.

Just a few guidelines. You already have the story written out with characters and all, so that's good.

As awesome and scary as hell as season 1 was, I enjoyed season 2 a bit more. I felt the Operator apperances were much better and I liked the introduction of Hoody, and not to mention the character development, which is why I've enjoyed season 3 like crazy so far.

season 1 really had a feeling that I don't know if anybody can really replicate. It had this solitary feeling, like there really wasn't much of anybody to turn to, everything is so unknown, and everything was just so subtle and creepy. Also being the first season, everybody was pretty new to the whole idea of the operator and slender man, so I don't think any series has been able to recapture the feeling you get when you did first watch a slendervlog of any kind.

I'd still have to say season 1 is my favorite.

This thread is bad. And you should feel bad.

But I like Season 2, as far as complete seasons go.

Calm down, dude. I'm just asking for advice from the internet. Nothing wrong with that, is there?

I can think of oodles of reasons why that's wrong.
