I don't know if we can trust her folks. Seems like something is horribly wrong with her situation.

After her last email to me I sent her back few verses of "Hope Abides" of Sri Chinmoy to communicate to her that we are working on things.

The rest of my email was kind to Patrick in case he is monitoring her.

Here's her reply:

It seems you happen to enjoy poems. I do like to read all sorts myself as well. There are so many out there... one cannot almost find a poem for anything they feel, I think...

If a man says half himself in the light, adroit
Way a tune shakes into equilibrium,
Or approximates to a note that never comes

Ah, I apologize. Seems my thoughts have been drifting a bit as of late.

The poem she quotes this time is Betrayal by A. S. J. Tessimond.

So has someone betrayed her?

When in doubt, just ask Smile

It's funny...I have been totally absent during this last discussion and tried destegging it myself using a crap ton of passwords. I only thought this morning to ask Nigel his cat's name and it happened to be right along what you guys were wondering Laughing

Only problem is that "Sparky" is not the password. I tried it and then minutes later Nigel told me it wouldn't help in finding him. I feel bad. The poor PM is giving us hints but we're just not getting there. Nigel even said, "I wish I could tell you plainly because I think I can trust you" which to me translates to the PM tearing his/her hair out wanting us to figure it out without just handing it to us like he/she did with Shadow's email.

Anyway, Nigel also said we need to use a "tool" with the picture to find him. So either it does need to be destegged and we haven't figured out the password, or we need some program that can enhance the cat's eye.

okay...i think we are barking up the wrong tree with the stegging

remember how i noticed the image was called "efs"

but then later noticed that the link was called "gyefsp"?

i double checked, it's a yfrog thing

so that narrows it down; probably not stegging....maybe image manipulation?

ETA:

just rereading nigel's tweet:

Quote:
I keep thinking people are following me. I haven't left town yet. To find me you'll need a tool.

got me thinking of how could people be following him, if he hasn't gone anywhere....maybe an allusion to twitter? or his digital traces?

anyways went to his twitter list to see who's following him....a few unknown people including:

http://twitter.com/#!/advancesecurity which is creepy, ironic, but looks legit

http://www.catswebsite.co.uk/ weird and odd, no idea if it's in game or not -- i don't think so...but yeah, werd

thought worth mentioning though

AANNNND a search of the image on tin eye didn't come up with anything

ETA: aannnnnnnd trying to get the meta info from the image using exif readers did not work either

Limited image manipulation capacity here, but what little I have isn't coming up with much of anything in the eye. Can anyone make out something running roughly vertically across the brickwork at the lower left? Don't think it's a design on the wall. Could be letters, but all I can make out is a few X's or K's or something...

Just caught up on the thread. I'm a new player to ARGs but this one piqued my interest. I am also excited as I am a Welsh speaker, so if anyone wants me to translate any Welsh I will do so. I want to note, as well, that there are some differences between Northern and Southern Welsh, so online translators will have some trouble with that if there is no specification as to which translation to go for.

Also, may be nothing, but ages ago you mentioned that Logan's name meaning had significance. I also looked up her second name, and apparently it means 'Oak'. Hollow Oak? I don't know if that's a coinkydink or what. Patrick's name meaning is 'Noble'.

Regarding the first image we saw where it seems the house is being struck with lightning; didn't Logan allude to weather being unpredictable and a powerful force in the same email that had that image attached? Just musing out loud. Pardon if I'm making noob mistakes.

Edit; Played around with the image of the cat because someone mentioned there being an odd vertical line in some brickwork - turns out those are blinds, not bricks, and the vertical line is the string that threads them.

Edit II; Alright, I need to ask this. I just read the whole thread and I didn't see it being picked up on - granted its just gone 3am and I skipped over a few posts that seemed to just be chat, but I just wanted to ask; did anyone bring up/discuss that Logan was saying she was going away to 'meet someone' and then Nigel {who's Tweets I am reading just now} says that he has a meeting but when he turned up its revealed that no one from his company called him there and then he mysteriously bumps into Logan? Did she arrange this from the start? And now my head hurts, but I'll mention one more thing; did anyone make the connection between someone talking about colour-schemes in the background of a phonecall and Patrick talking about decorating a room? Maybe random, but eh.

Again, sorry for noob ramblings and mistakes.

Welcome Eosphoros Hesperus,

Ah, we are excited you can speak Welsh as well!

Thanks for the tip on Logan's name. For some reason, that does strike me as significant. But I can't remember why. Sad

No worries on any other points. I'm impressed you were able to stitch together what you could with our mess of a thread with the two trailheads combined.

as to the colour schemes...yes it was mentioned by someone at some point, i think....-- i don't think we concluded anything by it other than to connect logan's audio file with nigel's meeting for sure.

as for the strange coinkydink--Nigel did (as you are probably reading now)...but I don't know if anyone has inquired to her about it or not? maybe an idea? (i'm not one of the ones who has a relationship with her)

Re Nigel's Twitter followers - catswebsite.co.uk is most definitely out of game. It's a site I run, and it looks like I accidentally followed Nigel with the wrong Twitter account Embarassed Move along, nothing to see there (except for my slight embarrassment!)

aahaha, myf...that is hilarious actually. What are the chances your website says "cats" and a major theme at the moment is a cat. Very Happy

p.s. just for clarification, i thought the connection was weird (theatre house following nigel that just happens to have a can icon), not the website itself Very Happy

it's all good!

Between the two different poems LD has referenced recently ("The Shadow" by Robert Lois Stevenson and "Betrayal" by A S J Tessimond) I am leaning more toward faeryqueen's theory that maybe Patrick is more to blame than LD herself. Whether it is really true or not, it seems like she wants us to think someone close to her is actually betraying her in some way.

technical question

Since I'm not that versed in the digital manipulation end of things I have a curious question. I have read that you guys have been making valiant attempts to "desteg" that cat photo using all manner of passwords, but to no avail as of yet. Having read up on the subject I get the idea of what destegging is now.

Maybe I just missed the post where someone did, but I am wondering whether anyone has tried to desteg an image using no password at all? Is that even possible? (sorry in advance if it is a newb question)

Yes to the question about destegging without a password (not a technically based answer: I mean, I tried it at least) -- and no need to apologize for any question Very Happy

I'm leaning towards image manipulation rather than steg, but not really sure what more I should try in that regards; Maybe someone else wants to give it a whirl; I know in one other puzzle (for another arg), I didn't have success in photoshop, but someone did in GIMP doing the exact same methods

i'll be away for the weekend folks, i hope you crack it by the time i get back on monday Very Happy

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, children of all ages, I do believe I managed to make a mistake. You may gasp in horror and shock now. Perhaps run around shouting "Dios mio, ayudame!" or something.

As I mentioned to someone last night, I screwed up. Our lover of cats and paranoid man, one Nigel Hemingway, was actually the second name on the list.

I've been looking through my mess for the first name. All I saw was Gable jotted, nothing else. Might be easy for her to get to him. No idea. But I'm going to be on the hunt again. No worries though, I'll be in contact. We have We have technology. Opensource, worldwide technology. Oh yeah.

Later people! Keep lover of cats safe! Adios!

Dios mio, ayudame! - My God, help me!
Adios! - Goodby!

Okay, I've been reading up on this one for the last couple of days as I have time. One thing that niggles at the back of my mind is the error in this. It seems to me that the error is pretty blatant. The first letter in each line is messed up? That seems more than coincidental to me...then you consider the fact that the correct letters are i,t,w,a,w,i,n,w...there's a www in there, could it be a hidden message pointing to a website?

Someone may've mentioned this already and I missed it in my catchup read, and if so, please feel free to trout me. I'm not sure if this helps with anything but it seems to me that there is a deliberateness there.

(my username is currently locked out to me from a stupid mistake on my part and I've emailed the site admins asking for help....I'm NOT the PM for this, all this is pure spec)

There are a couple of early emailed puzzles that we have hanging out there, that still are not solved - or rather they are half solved - the initial crypto was solved but not the secondary puzzles produced. If we had solved them we might have the intended shadow email rather than the "gimmie" email addy that used LordIllian's nickname for Shadow (even though that use makes Lord Illian happy that the PM is paying attention <g>)

Unfortunately I am not a puzzle person, I'm a contact and interaction sort of person. Wish Grumpyboy was around, these would have been solved in minutes of being mentioned....
