Another 'old timer' here. I got both emails but that's as far as I've gotten. Re-reading the thread now. I think they are both part of the same thing, simply because I haven't gotten a trailhead in over a year. The odds of two games starting the same day and both sending me trailheads is approaching nil. Nice to see so many familiar faces...

And hey! Secret Santa if you haven't...

I'm a newb, and got the music email. Just replied back.

Also, I was a little confused reading the thread. So, we checked out The Sound Guy's stuff, yes? Has anyone emailed LD asking if he knows or is familiar with TSG?

Also, new post on Process The Sounds: http://ptsmusic.blogspot.com/2010/11/some-good-news-and-another-little-set.html

Another audio for us to investigate.

Re: Black Iris Music--if they've been "inactive" since January, and suddenly come to life a few days ago, coinciding with an ARG that references them, I'd say it's just a bunch of post-dated blogs to make it look legit, and that this is an IG site.

L D isn't one of the brothers...he is one of the "toys"....he referred to himself as such in an earlier email....but I don't know how you are supposed to "take him and run"

it also makes for a stronger case for split personality....or at least this messenger at least READS L D's communications to you

So....Cyng....if you and me are the brothers....where the hell is mom?

Starting to lean towards the split personalities theory, but at this stage in the game, it's too early to tell, methinks.

I DO think seeing if the sound guy knows anything about this, though. For two trailheads to pop up so quickly is kinda new to me. The one thing I've learned from doing this is question every damn thing.

Holy mackerel, five pages? Hate when that happens.

He replies quick, so I'll check my email soon. Didn't get the music email but did get this:
Quote:
Why have so many people written to me with that odd subject? I don't know what it is or anything of that nature. Though it is nice of you to call me a friend. Your email says your name is Alice. And I suppose I could use an internet friend or two... or more, perhaps. My friends usually call me D, so I suppose you can too.

I would like to imagine you do know what that odd text in the subject bar is, though, seeing as you wrote in some odd thing yourself. Are you part of a club? There was another person that wrote to me with a poem. I will have to mention you to them if they reply back, if you don't mind. They may like to start a poetry club with you. I told them I would be willing to join in such a group so long as they stop the odd things that they're doing here. Unless they're not behind it, which would make me seem quite mad... which wouldn't be pleasant, would it?

What a day. The now-usual odd morning find, meetings and odd emails with gibberish and hollow men. I do hope your day is better than mine has been thus far.

I replied:
Quote:
Er...sorry...You sent me an email with some poetry in it, so I thought I would respond in kind. It's from a TS Eliot poem, I think? Something about Hollow Men, anyways. You should change your password-- maybe you've been hacked, that would kinda suck.

I'd love to be your friend. Maybe we could be pen pals Very Happy Haven't had one of those since like fifth grade or something. E-pen-pals!

You say someone's doing odd things at your house? Perhaps it was the same person who sent the Hollow Men email from your account? That sounds like something you should tell the police...What kind of things have they been doing?

On an related note, you should read the Hollow Men poem. I never read it until you sent part of it to me, and I found it to be lovely.
-Alice

ETA: I also got the music email but thought it was from someone in orchestra Laughing

From LD:
I've said to someone else today, and I suppose I'll have to say it once more: you must run with an interesting crowd.

I thought the odd things might be my friends. I'm not so sure now, but it surely wasn't "do I have enemies?" The only thing I can really think of is that perhaps PETA still hasn't forgiven my friends, and as an extension, myself, for that bacon incident... Er, sorry. My mind was drifting. I am a bit tired, and it's getting late. But I think I can assure you I have no enemies.

As for my location, I think it might be prudent to keep mum on the subject for now. I really don't know any of you quite well, though I am extremely grateful you're willing to help me find the person sending things on my name. It is a far cry from poetry, though...

The odd things are basically papers with phrases and the like. Rubbish, in my opinion--more annoying than menacing. But still bothersome, as I'm sure you can imagine.

Pretty sure the PETA quip is a throwaway line, but what do I know? Anyway, responded with this.

I got a similar email about PETA after asking him about having enemies, but it seems like a fair amount of your message is copy/pasted from mine.

Quote:
Classic? Dare I ask?

And I must admit, what did the number six do to you, that you would name it ROT? As for enemies, I would venture to say no, though I do have a few friends that can get quite rowdy with drinks in them. Perhaps PETA still hasn't forgiven them, and as an extension, myself, for that bacon incident... It is worth looking into, I suppose. Though the subtle aspects would be a bit much, don't you agree?

As for the cryptologists... I do believe you've managed to hurt my head. You expect me to believe that someone magically got into my account and sent a message of gibberish to a group of people that know it? And that none of these people think that getting a random email is strange?

I do believe you run with quite an interesting crowd if this is all normal for you.

Ah, the classic "Someone hacked into my account just to send a ROT-6 message to a randomly selected collective of cryptology enthusiasts." Alright sir/madame/other, I'm on the case. Do you have any enemies/rivals/mafia bosses you've recently pissed off/normal people you've recently pissed off/corporate executives unpleased with your work output/other who might both hold enough of a grudge against you and is enough of a total cloud coocoolander to harass you in such a manner as this?

And on that note... How come I never get any important info from characters? (Other than the fact that I refuse to be serious about anything. That doesn't count.) ;~; I want to be special, too!

Went over all the PTS stuff. God knows I can't re-mix sound, but I've got a theory (JUST A THEORY, no evidence).

Random things are happening. And now odd noises are coming over recording mediums from SG's 'mate' and his drum kit.

Now his bass line is all jacked up.

Going to try to find out if SG knows LD. And if LD plays drums.

As for the odd noises...come on, gang. We've seen Ghost Hunters. Granted, ghosts rarely sound like modems from the mid 90s, but you get my point. Emailing LD to see if he has any interest in music, and drums in particular. Open to ideas.

My email to LD -
Quote:

Just a random thought - do you know anyone who knows anything about sound mixing and the like? Also, do you play any instruments? I'm a bit of a drummer, myself.

We don't want to alarm you, but we have started receiving some pretty bizarre stuff via email. Weird mp3 files, vaguely threatening sounding stuff. We were just wondering if you had experienced anything out of the norm (you know, other than your run of the mill mass sending of coded emails to a bunch of random strangers type of stuff. Happens to the best of us.).

We're working on figuring out what the deal is with your situation, and any further information you could provide us would go miles (or kilometers, in the UK) towards helping us figure stuff out. Looking forward to hearing from you,

BC

Just got this from L D (subject: Th eroa dnot ta ken):
Quote:

Dúas estradas divergiam nun bosque amarela,
E desculpe, eu non podería viaxar tanto.

Whispers, not sounds or music. And tell the Other to stop crying... or they shall be next to travel.

...Ah, yes. No matter how hard you may hope, nobody shall guide them. Not even their Lord.

For remember... at five o' clock in the morning...

NEW EMAIL FROM LD!!! WOO HOOO!!!!

Galician (according to google translate).

First 2 lines translate to (again, according to google) =

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood, And sorry I could not travel both.

The last 5 lines translate to Welsh (again, according to google) =

Between the idea
And the reality
Between the motion
And in the act
Shadow Falls

This popped up right as I was sending LD an email inquiring about his musical interests, and any relationship to SG.

Looks like our split personality was sitting at the computer when I emailed LD.

Reply (literally 7 minutes after I sent it, and we got the newer email from LD)

Quote:
Do you think that you can catch me when one that lives here cannot?

Good luck.

My reply -
Quote:
I can promise you I am going to try. What should we call you?

My latin isn't the best, but I'm working on the translation. What are you after? Is there something you want?

At the very least, we have something to show LD if/when he shows up. Maybe around 5 am?

I'm exhausted, all. Calling it a night. Have a good one.

Closest I can get is "Retreat now, he who has not. They and which you progress with which (don't know exivit) in. For whom things down (?) thus."

Doesn't really make sense though.

A line from The Road Not Taken, by Robert Frost. Makes sense, given the subject heading.

Quote:

Between the idea
And the reality
Between the motion
And in the act
Shadow Falls

Another "Hollow Men" line.

I got the same email, fyi.
Apparently our split personality also speaks Portuguese and Latin.
I replied
Quote:
Uh, no offense dude, but do you have like multiple personality disorder or something? First you quote me a poem from TS Eliot, now you're quoting Robert Frost. (Yes, I do speak a little Portuguese, and a lot of Spanish.)

You have issues, Mr. Hacker. Or whoever you are. Do you want to talk about them? It's late at night but I'm stressed too. Sometimes talking helps.

I am more confussed than before as this response does NOT feel ARG to me.

I'm going to say this again -Sound Guy is, I believe, A different game (if game indeed) as we don't have anything to connect Sound Guy with Hollow Men (other than the fact that the lead came through email.

Two of the best analyses of TS Elliot's poem I've found so far for those interested (and I've read a lot of pretty awful ones since last night!)
